Richard A, Viguerie

Viguerie transformed American politics in the 1960s and 70s by pioneering the use of direct mail fundraising in the political and ideological spheres, which allowed conservatives to go around the liberal media blockage right into people’s homes. He used direct mail marketing/fundraising to help build the conservative movement, which then elected Ronald Reagan as the first conservative president of the modern era.

In the early 1960s, he learned how to use direct mail to build YOUNG AMERICANS FOR FREEDOM (YAF) into America's largest youth political organization in the country to counter the Left on college campuses.

Soon after his start at YAF, he worked on the 1964 Barry Goldwater campaign. After that, he launched the world's first conservative direct mail/marketing company in January 1965 – then called the Viguerie Company, now called AMERICAN TARGET ADVERTISING - that has mailed over 4.3 billion letters and raised more than $7.5 billion for conservative cause to help build conservative organizations and elect conservatives.

He is credited with pioneering conservative direct mail/marketing. His company uses direct mail and other direct marketing methods (the internet, including email and social media) to continue to build and grow today's conservative movement.

Many political historians say there never would have been a Ronald Reagan Presidency without the many new conservative organizations that were built using the direct marketing techniques he helped pioneer. The result is, time and again, conservatives, thanks in part to Virguerie’s leadership, has been able to shock the pollsters and pundits by producing conservative victory after conservative victory. The election of Donald J. Trump in 2016 was one of conservatives’ finest hours!

Viguerie is also Chairman of FedUp PAC, an independent expenditure political action committee that uses his 58 years of direct target marketing experience to BRAND the Democrats as unhinged, anti-God, violent, open borders, dangerous, elitist socialists. Additionally, he is also the publisher of a conservative website, ConservativeHQ.com.

Dr. Lee Edwards wrote in The Washington Times in 1999 that Viguerie was one of 13
“Conservatives of the Century.”

Mr. Viguerie and his wife, Elaine, are natives of Houston, Texas, and have been married for 57 years. They have three children and six grandchildren and live in the Virginia countryside on 230 acres of conservative-friendly environment.
