TO AMERICAN CARDINALS AND OTHER MEMBERS OF THE U.S. CONFERENCE OF CATHOLIC BISHOPS:

WHEREAS, each November, Catholic bishops make an appeal to raise funds for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD); and

WHEREAS, contributors to the CCHD are led to believe that their contributions will be used to finance soup kitchens, homeless shelters, and other efforts to provide assistance to the poor; and

WHEREAS, it appears that almost none of money distributed by CCHD goes to charity, but rather to organizations that engage in “community organizing” for political causes; and

WHEREAS, CCHD has funneled countless millions of dollars in charitable contributions to such corrupt, extremist organizations as ACORN; and

WHEREAS, CCHD continues to funnel money to organizations that promote policies that hurt the poor; and

WHEREAS, CCHD continues to funnel money to organizations that promote policies most Catholics find abhorrent, such as abortion-on-demand at taxpayers’ expense until (and beyond) the moment of birth; and

WHEREAS, CCHD funnels money to organizations founded on the dishonest, anti-democratic values of ACORN and of the late Marxist atheist Saul Alinsky; therefore

WE THE UNDERSIGNED will not to contribute to the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, unless and until the bishops –
  • Cease all funding to left-wing organizations,
  • Ensure that every penny collected by the bishops’ appeal and CCHD in the future goes directly to aid for the poor, not to left-wing political groups, and
  • Provide a complete accounting of the bishops’ and CCHD’s past support for ideological and political campaigns, causes, and groups, such as ACORN and its allies.

FURTHERMORE, we will spread the word to our friends, family members, neighbors, co-workers, and fellow church members about the CCHD’s involvement with radical left wing organizations and abuse of trust.
