"Bomb Obamacare" Rockets Palin to #1 Again

Sarah Palin Wants to Bomb Obamacare
Governor Sarah Palin’s ability to capture the feelings and aspirations of grassroots America continues to keep her at the top of our CHQ 2016 Republican presidential straw poll.

This week it was her memorable “Bomb Obamacare,” not Syria that rocketed her back to the top of the balloting and 56 percent of the votes cast.

Sarah Palin’s ability to turn a “tweetworthy” phrase is of course a great asset and probably the key to her continued domination of our poll, but it is worth noting that all of the top contenders in the poll are heavily invested in the effort to defund and repeal Obamacare.

Senators Ted Cruz and Rand Paul, along with Utah’s Senator Mike Lee, are the leaders of the effort in the Senate and Col. Allen West and Dr. Ben Carson are also articulate opponents of Obamacare.

Senators Cruz and Mike Lee have been out on the road tirelessly pushing the effort to defund Obamacare, but have been largely blown-off the evening news by Obama’s efforts to drag Republicans into ratifying his adventure into Syria.

Now that the conservative grassroots have (at least temporarily) defeated that folly, its “wag the dog” effect of masking the push to defund Obamacare should abate and domestic policy, where Cruz and Rand Paul each have a strong constituency, will return to the front pages, thus improving their visibility and likely also improving their standing in our poll.

Palin is popular with the grassroots in large measure because she defies the pseudo-intellectual conventions of inside-the-Beltway political conversation – or what most people outside-the-Beltway call double talk or B.S.

But attributing her lead in the CHQ straw poll or popularity at the grassroots strictly to her sometimes colorful speeches is much too shallow an analysis to explain Palin’s enduring popularity.

Establishment Republican Party leaders and their sometime abettors in the establishment media would like to forget that the Tea Party rebellion of 2009 and 2010 was presaged by the outpouring of grassroots support for Sarah Palin in the 2008 presidential campaign.

The Tea Party rebellion was as much a rebellion against the entrenched GOP leadership as it was a rebellion against Barack Obama and his liberal agenda.

It is important that grassroots conservatives and Tea Partiers not forget that the establishment Republican “leadership” on Capitol Hill supported Obama’s planned war in the Middle East, until it was overwhelmed in an outpouring of opposition from the grassroots, and they also oppose the efforts of Lee, Cruz and Paul to defund Obamacare.

Governor Palin’s words succinctly brought together those two grassroots demands and are what once again propelled her to the top of our 2016 straw poll.

Why Sarah Palin?

I vote for Sarah Palin in the CHQ Straw Poll because she inspires trust, she inspires confidence that there is no hidden agenda with her, and one feels confident that she will always do what is right for America.

In my opinion, Sarah Palin is more like Ronald Reagan than any of the other possible candidates.

Furthermore, those ineligible candidates who are not "natural born citizens" as required by the Constitution (Ted Cruz, Rick Santorum, Marco Rubio, Nikki Haley, and Bobby Jindal) are diminished by their failure to come out publicly and acknowledge their constitutional infirmity. Their inclusion in the polling and in the national debate over a conservative candidate renders a disservice to the American people and distorts the political process.

Richard Viguerie - shame on you for including these ineligible candidates in the CHQ straw poll.

Obamacare

The reason we have "Obamacare" is that the current system is broken and running out of control. When Obamacare was Romneycare the conservatives liked it. Healthcare has been managed allot more efficiently and effectively than ours in many, many ways in lots of other countries. We can probably do even better. Instead come up with some proposals.
