Will You Join Kim Davis On The Cross?

Every Sunday Christians across America are challenged by their ministers and priests to follow Jesus to the cross, but we wonder exactly how far many of those giving their “Amen” to that message would be willing to go to stand for their beliefs.

Kim DavisWrite a bigger check to the church? No problem.

Give more volunteer time to the church’s youth program? No problem.

Go on a mission trip? No problem.

Stand for the biblical message and confront the full power of the federal government? Definite Problem.

But that’s exactly what Rowan County, Kentucky’s elected county clerk Kim Davis has done and it has landed her in jail at the order of unelected U.S. District Judge David Bunning.

What Kim Davis did to land herself in jail – indefinitely we might add – is to break what our friend Matt Walsh of The Blaze called “an illegitimate, evil law.” And that would be the entirely judge-made law mandating that every jurisdiction in the United States grant same-sex “marriages.”

Gay “marriage” is itself nothing but the will of the elites says Matt Walsh and we couldn’t agree more.

Many people such as Marco Rubio and Jeb Bush have said, “Well, gay ‘marriage’ is the law of the land, so that’s that,” but what they mean is, “Well, five people in Washington support gay ‘marriage,’ so that’s that.”

It is as much a legal abomination as a moral one says Walsh.

And Walsh is right. It might be true that the Supreme Court has, over time, seized the power to write laws and reshape ancient human institutions according to their radical liberal ideologies, but that doesn’t make it law. It might be “law,” but it isn’t law. Just as gay “marriage” might be “marriage,” but it can never be a marriage according to God’s law.

So are we morally obligated to cooperate with the evil agendas and the rampant tyrannies of the federal government asks Matt Walsh?

Kim Davis says no.

But we wonder how many others will come to that same conclusion and stand for the teachings of the Bible and the laws of God against the evil and unjust laws of man?

And while same sex “marriage” may be the most egregious example, there are many other day-to-day challenges where believers are being challenged to stand for or abandon the teachings of the Bible.

The federal government has mandated that the “right” to an abortion is paramount over the right to life and the right of individual believers not to participate in the judicially mandated murder of an abortion.

Mat Staver, founder and chairman of Liberty Counsel, which is representing Davis, said in a statement, “Everyone is stunned at this development. Kim Davis is being treated as a criminal because she cannot violate her conscience. While she may be behind bars for now, Kim Davis is a free woman. Her conscience remains unshackled.”

Mat Staver is a good man, but we have to disagree slightly with his statement, because we are not “stunned” that the government has jailed Kim Davis for standing for her biblical beliefs and her conscience.

Many Americans look at what is happening to freedom of religion and freedom of conscience under Barack Obama’s unholy alliance with a far-Left majority on the Supreme Court and they fear that through this unapologetic breach of the Constitution they will be next.

Americans instinctively understand that government is the enemy of freedom.  They don’t have to have the truth of what Martin Niemoeller said about how tyranny gained the upper hand in Nazi Germany explained to them:

First they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak out - because I was not a Jew.  Then they came for the Communists, and I did not speak out because I was not a Communist.  Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out -because I was not a trade unionist.  Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak for me!

Those church leaders and believers of all faiths who thought Obama’s promise of change wouldn’t affect them should heed Pastor Niemoller’s call now, and get on the side of Constitutional government.  If they do, they will show Americans that they understand that the loss of freedom of conscience threatens all of our other freedoms, and they will find millions of Americans – believers and non-believers alike – on their side.  If they don’t they will have the distinction of being the next victims on the Left’s list.

Kim Davis is only the latest victim of government persecution of Christians to be put to the test, but she won’t be the last. As Obama’s plan to fundamentally change America gathers speed, the question each of us going to face in the near future is “how far will we go to stand for our faith and freedom of conscience?”

Luke 9:23 tells us “And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.” When that challenge comes will you join Kim Davis and follow Him?

no rights

Kim Davis is in jail with no bail because 5 misguided Supreme Court Lawyers did not uphold the Constitution. Not only that, the rights of the sovereign State of Kentucky and all its citizens have been infringed upon. Also the Freedom of Religion of every American Citizen has been violated. Five lawyers should be impeached.
