Conservative Leader Brent Bozell Joins Right on Crime Movement

Our friends at Right on Crime announced the addition of a long time conservative leader committed to conservative criminal justice reform as outlined in its Statement of Principles.  The newest signatory to this movement is L. Brent Bozell, chairman of ForAmerica.

Right on Crime is a national campaign of the Texas Public Policy Foundation, in partnership with the American Conservative Union Foundation and Justice Fellowship that supports fighting crime, prioritizing victims, and protecting taxpayers.  The movement to reform underperforming and wasteful criminal justice programs had its Brent Bozellorigins in Texas in 2005.  Its success has been duplicated and continues to serve as a model for effective policies around the country.

“Criminal justice reform is critically important to who we are as conservatives.  Brent’s leadership will be a tremendous help in taking it to the next level,” said Ken Cuccinelli, former Attorney General of Virginia.

“Brent Bozell is one of the leading conservative voices in America, and we are honored to have him join,” said Richard A. Viguerie, Chairman of ConservativeHQ.com and a Right on Crime signatory.  “Having Brent join this effort is further evidence of national conservative leaders acknowledging that America's criminal justice system is seriously broken and in need of major reform."

“I look forward to working with this esteemed group of friends and colleagues in advancing policies that rightly  belong to conservatives—public safety and fiscal responsibility,” said Mr. Bozell.

Mr. Bozell joins more than 60 prominent conservative leaders who have endorsed the principles of conservative criminal justice reform, including former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, former U.S. Attorney General Edwin Meese, former New Mexico Attorney General Hal Stratton and former U.S. Congressman J.C. Watts, former Ohio Attorney General Jim Petro, former Florida Attorney General Richard Doran, and Americans for Tax Reform President Grover Norquist.

L. Brent Bozell serves as chairman of ForAmerica.  In 1987, he founded the Media Research Center and serves as its chairman. He also writes a weekly syndicated column, and is a widely sought after media commentator.  He has served on numerous organization boards and has written several books.
