Outsiders vs. Insiders: Why guilt-free liberals won’t let Hillary’s 2016 election loss pass away

It’s often said that guilt follows you everywhere, which is certainly true for most – at least those of us with a conscience and a soul. It doesn’t seem to bother Hillary Clinton, however, as the 2016 Democrat presidential nominee shamelessly refuses to fade away no matter how hard we’d all like to forget about her – and neither will the scandals and slime surrounding her name.

Like the first dandelions in spring Hillary crops up in places you don’t want her, spreading a similar foul kind of wispy seeds to the whims of the wind as the notorious weed. Only in Hillary’s case she can’t be vanquished Hillary Clintonwith a quick shot of Roundup.

Clinton has been in the news quite a bit recently, where she’s tried to explain away her election loss in a variety of ways, essentially blaming everyone but herself. One common theme emerged from her wailings: FBI Director James Comey is the reason why Donald Trump is president today instead of her. Perhaps that’s the reason why the 2016 election just won’t slip nicely into history for many people.

Matthew Continetti of National Review tries to explain it, writing, “…The shocks of deindustrialization and the financial crisis, of unchecked immigration, multiculturalism, and the transgender revolution, of digital and social media, of inconclusive decades-long wars, of rampant heroin addiction seem to have made large parts of the country unrecognizable to those of us living in coastal cities and their affluent suburbs. Is our country really this divided, our politics this polarized, and our culture this degraded? Was 2016 not a fluke but a warning? What of?

“No one wants to answer that last question; no one knows the answer. The question itself, though, may be an answer. Why can’t we let go of 2016? Because we’re too afraid of what might happen next.”

In his well-written and reasoned piece Continetti argues even Republicans and conservatives haven’t yet accepted Donald Trump as president and it’s largely due to Trump himself, that the president’s odd non-presidential behavior and interviews confound his supporters and detractors alike.

It’s an interesting point but I argue anyone who maintains Trump is frustrating people who supported and voted for him is only looking at the surface and neglecting to see what’s going on underneath the words and mannerisms of the president. Trump is who he is and it’s clear by now that some “get” him and others don’t. For the people who are still confused, they’re repulsed at Trump’s simple and direct tweets, trying to read hidden meanings into statements that would otherwise seem crystal clear.

Trump isn’t practicing some weird form of verbal voodoo on the American people. For the most part he says what he means and means what he says – at least at the moment he says it. Afterwards he may have a conversation with one of his advisors and his viewpoint changes. We’ve seen it happen dozens of times the past two years.

Hillary, on the other hand, can’t let the 2016 election go because she has the establishment media and tens of millions of blind followers telling her that she was robbed; that somehow a dark “rightwing conspiracy” convinced an Obama official (Comey) to sabotage the election.

These disgruntled folks won’t allow the election to pass. First they tried to fix the Electoral College and more recently they’re continuing to stir up trouble and pay for marches over stupid nebulous subjects such as “science” and women’s rights. And they’re ending their personal relationships over Trump too.

Hillary Clinton is the woman behind the curtain in all of this. Leftists and idiots may be out on the streets chanting slogans but they wouldn’t be there today if Hillary Clinton had been declared the winner on November 9. To them, if Hillary were in the Oval Office “science” would be safeguarded and women would enjoy equal pay and status and whatever else comes along with the warm feelings engendered by having a liberal as president.

These people appear to believe government can and will do anything they want – make everyone equal, change old traditional attitudes, suppress the role of Christianity in people’s lives and level the economic playing field. None of it is true, but if their figurehead is mouthing the words they’re content to passively observe and believe.

Another reason why the 2016 election is still around is because Hillary is organizing for action.

Gabriel Debenedetti of Politico reports, “The former secretary of state is building a new political group to fund organizations working on the resistance to President Donald Trump’s agenda, spending recent weeks in Washington, New York City, and Chappaqua, N.Y., meeting with donors and potential groups to invest in, and recruiting individuals for the group’s board of directors, multiple people close to the two-time White House hopeful and people familiar with the group’s planning told POLITICO.

“She is looking to launch the group, expected to be called Onward Together — a nod to her campaign slogan, Stronger Together — as soon as [this] week, they say.”

According to Debenedetti’s story, Hillary’s group will serve as a hub to funnel money into other leftist organizations. This basically means liberal donors can cut a check to Hillary and the Clintons will figure out where to spend it. Here’s thinking they’ll be scamming a slice off the top, too.

Anyone who intimates this isn’t laying the groundwork for another presidential run is willfully suspending disbelief. It’s all part of a grand scheme. First Hillary loses the election, tells people that she’s not going way, hides out for a while but then reappears in public as the “bigger person” who accepted defeat but the presidency was effectively stolen from her.

She starts up an activist non-profit, uses her donor lists to raise money and makes a down payment on future support for another presidential run by buttering up recipients of the laundered loot.

Meanwhile, supporters plant stories in the press about her pondering another campaign while Hillary continues to deny she’s doing anything other than enjoying her “retirement” and trying to help where she can in the resistance to Trump. At the appropriate time she’ll form an exploratory committee with her hordes of paid-for backers salivating at another chance to really stick it to Trump.

It’s relatively calm right now but it won’t take long for Democrat candidates to start their campaigns. Hillary already has the Clinton machine assembled over the course of four presidential campaigns. They’re going to ride the “stolen” theme to another nomination in 2020 (though they may have to elbow out Joe Biden for the crown).

Her supporters are keeping the dream alive too. They even got into a tiff over Hillary’s loss last week on The View. Sarah Taylor of The Blaze reports, “Things got heated on Wednesday’s airing of ‘The View’ when conservative co-host Jedediah Bila opined that Hillary Clinton lost the 2016 election simply because ‘she lied to people.’...

“’The reason why she lost was that her foreign policy at the State Department was a disaster,’ Bila said. ‘Her intervention in Libya led to terrorist havens and the infiltration of ISIS. She lost because she picked a bad vice presidential candidate. She didn’t do proper ground work in states like Wisconsin and states like Michigan and states like Pennsylvania. She lied to people!’”

Sounds like good common sense to me. Of course the liberal hags on the program (Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin) disagreed, citing the usual rationalizations for Hillary’s downfall – racism, sexism, the Russians and of course, James Comey.

The truth is the 2016 election won’t die because the liberals won’t let it go. It wouldn’t have mattered if Trump won the popular vote in addition to the Electoral College, liberals would have found some other justification for discontent.

There is no fault on their part. Guilt may follow us everywhere but Democrats are immune to it.
