More Fake News From CNN

Yesterday, Kris Kobach, Kansas Secretary of State and Vice Chair of the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity issued a statement knocking down yet another fake news story from CNN.

Truth killed by CNNThe failing cable news network had, under blaring headlines, breathlessly reported that some 44 states were refusing to cooperate with President Trump’s recently announced election integrity commission.

Here is Kobach’s statement in its entirety:

On June 28, the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity issued a letter requesting that states provide publicly available voter data as permitted under their state laws. At present, 20 states have agreed to provide the publicly available information requested by the Commission and another 16 states are reviewing which information can be released under their state laws. In all, 36 states have either agreed or are considering participating with the Commission's work to ensure the integrity of the American electoral system.

While there are news reports that 44 states have "refused" to provide voter information to the Commission, these reports are patently false, more "fake news". At present, only 14 states and the District of Columbia have refused the Commission's request for publicly available voter information. Despite media distortions and obstruction by a handful of state politicians, this bipartisan commission on election integrity will continue its work to gather the facts through public records requests to ensure the integrity of each American's vote because the public has a right to know. Kobach’s statement comes on the heels of a series of fake news scandals at the legacy cable news network that prompted the firing of several CNN staffers over their phony agenda-driven reporting.

But the patently false reporting and headlines aren’t the end of the story.

Partisan Democrats and their allies in the media are aggressively attempting to delegitimize President Donald Trump’s Election Integrity Commission, in part by smearing one of its most prominent members, Secretary of State Ken Blackwell, as a vote suppressor.

President Trump signed Executive Order 13799 on May 11, 2017, creating the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity. Its mission is to identify better ways to protect the ballot box against voter fraud and other illegal acts that undermine the integrity of the democratic process on Election Day. President Trump appointed Vice President Mike Pence as its chairman, Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach as vice chairman, and Ambassador Blackwell as one of its first members.

According to Breitbart’s Ken Klukowski, liberal activist groups funded by ultra-left billionaire George Soros are using tactics from Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals to attack the commission, including singling out a couple individuals as the names and faces representing the organization. While many of the attacks are being directed at Kobach, even more seem to be aimed at Blackwell.

Ken Blackwell has a 30-year history on these issues. Born into modest circumstances in Cincinnati, he became a public servant who—aside from his many private-sector credentials and public-interest work—served as Mayor of Cincinnati in the city hall five blocks from the public housing where he grew up.

He later served as an Under Secretary at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Human Rights Commission, Ohio Secretary of State, and domestic policy advisor to President Trump’s transition team.

As an elected public official in Ohio, Ken Blackwell went from public housing, to being the first black man elected as a statewide constitutional officer when elected Treasurer of Ohio, to currently serving as Chairman of the International Foundation for Electoral Systems.

But according to the fake news media he and other election integrity advocates, such as Heritage Foundation policy expert Hans von Spakovsky, are radical rightwing “vote suppressors.”

It’s time for conservatives to ask CNN and the partisan Democrats they are shilling for if there’s no election fraud, why won’t you cooperate with the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity and help prove it?

The Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity

For reasons of privacy and States' rights, the federal government has no Constitutional right to the personal information, especially their voting records and party affiliation. Given the results of the study showing that there have been only thirty (30) cases of voter fraud out of 30B votes cast over the past decade or so, yielding a rate of occurrence at about 0.00003%,there is virtually no significant threat. CNN got it right, and the legitimate news media has validated that fact.

Election Integrity

If the Presidential Advisory Commission is requesting, as you write, "publicly available voter data," why is it necessary to request the states to provide it?

Election Integrity

Voter lists is a state issue. There is no legitimate reason for the federal government to have any of this information, unless it is to be used for some nefarious - illegal - purpose, like voter suppression or some other infringement on our rights and privacy.
