McConnell Caves To Conservatives Stops Opposing Judge Moore

In a stunning reversal of his anti-constitutional attempt to be the one who decides who does and does not get to serve in the United States Senate, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell reversed his calls for conservative Judge Roy Moore to step aside after allegations of sexual misconduct, telling George Stephanopoulos on Sunday that “I’m going to let the people of Alabama make the call.”

“We’re going to let the people of Alabama decide, a week from Tuesday, who they want to send to the Senate, Mitch McConnelland then will address the matter appropriately,” McConnell, told Stephanopoulos on ABC's "This Week."

McConnell was later asked whether Moore should be referred to the Senate ethics committee if he wins the upcoming special election in Alabama; "I have already said in the past that I thought this was a matter that would have to be considered by the committee," he said. "Ultimately, it would be up to them to make that decision. And they'll make it, depending upon whether Judge Moore ends up coming to the Senate."

Referring to the committee, the Kentucky Republican added: "I'm confident they'll come up with the right conclusion."

“This election’s been going on a long time — there’s been a lot of discussion about. They’re going to make the decision a week from Tuesday,” McConnell told Stephanopoulos.

“The ethics committee will have to consider the matters that have been litigated in the campaign should that particular candidate win,” he said.

As NBC's Daniella Silva pointed out, McConnell's reaction was a far cry from last month, when McConnell told reporters he thinks Moore should “step aside” after the report that he had sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl.

At the time, McConnell also said he believes the women who came forward with accusations against Moore.

So, what’s changed?

Well, for one thing, good investigative journalism, especially by Breitbart’s team coverage in Alabama has revealed a host of conflicts of interest and axes to grind among Judge Moore’s accusers.

Moore’s accusers have lost cases before him when he was a judge, had relatives incarcerated by him and in some case been proven to be serial liars by the testimony of their own families.

Perhaps most importantly, the “yearbook evidence” that seemed so conclusive when it first surfaced, has been demonstrated to be a complete fraud and liberal activist attorney Gloria Allred, facing ethics problems of her own, has refused to turn over the yearbook for a conclusive analysis by an independent investigator as Judge Moore has demanded.

Our friend Matthew Boyle, writing for Breitbart summed-up the state of play in Alabama this way:

McConnell’s retreat comes as the Senate Majority Leader has been slowly but surely losing power and prestige. Moore has been beating him up repeatedly and consistently on the campaign trail, saying in response to McConnell’s original calls for him to “step aside” that McConnell is the one who should step aside.

Moore has also detailed how he believes the frivolous allegations against him, which have not held up during the course of the campaign, are part of an effort by McConnell to “steal” the election from Alabama.

“This is an effort by Mitch McConnell and his cronies to steal this election from the people of Alabama,” Moore said at a pre-Thanksgiving press conference while still fighting off the allegations.

Although it is the right conclusion, “We’re going to let the people of Alabama decide” remains a stunning example of McConnell’s arrogance in claiming for himself the right to exclude a duly elected Senator from representing his state.

The most powerful slogan in American politics is the simple phrase, “Send them a message.” As the Alabama Senate election approaches conservatives can send the Republican establishment and the DC swamp an unmistakable message by supporting and voting for Judge Roy Moore for Senate.

To “send them a message” is one reason why we urge all CHQ readers in Alabama to vote for Roy Moore in the December 12 Senate election – and if you don’t live in Alabama and can’t vote for Judge Moore you can still send Mitch McConnell, Rob Portman and the rest of the DC swamp a message by donating directly to Judge Moore’s campaign through this link.

Moore is Less

Roy Moore is a statutory rapist/child molester. There's nothing Conservative about that. Have our values crumbled so much as we allowed a lifelong immoral and serial lying Democrat to take over the GOP?

Disgraceful.

And you believe this why? Do you believe that if a bunch of leftists make an accusation it must be true? Wake up!

McConnell vs Moore

Clearly the fix is in with the Senate Ethics (oxymoron) committee to remove Moore if he is elected. McConnell is simply trying to protect his image, such as it is.

Roy Moore

A very good man that would make an outstanding improvement in the the US senate!
