Endorsement: Nick Freitas For U.S. Senator From Virginia

Virginia Delegate Nick Freitas is the conservative choice for the Republican nomination to take on Virginia’s incumbent Far Left Democrat Senator Tim Kaine, a former Chairman of the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton’s running mate in the 2016 presidential election.

Nick FreitasWhen Nick Freitas stood on the floor of Virginia’s House of Delegates and passionately defended the Second Amendment Democrats got up and walked out in mass – a sure sign that Freitas had hit the mark:

“I just want to remind everyone of something very quickly. It was not our party that supported slavery, that fought women’s suffrage, that rounded up tens of thousands of Asian Americans and put them in concentration camps, that supported Jim Crow, that supported segregation or supported mass resistance. That wasn’t our party. That was the Democrat party,” said Freitas.

Nick Freitas’ ability as a debater and as a passionate defender of liberty are great qualifications for any conservative seeking public office, but, much like Newt Gingrich when he was leading the House conservatives, it is Freitas’ unerring ability to take the battle directly to the Democrats’ weak spots that sets him apart from the average Republican politician.

Where establishment Republicans tiptoe around the historical record of Democrats and allow themselves to be punching bags for every scurrilous charge leveled by the Left, Freitas zeros-in with facts, and a steadfast refusal to allow the Democrats to get away with demonizing Republicans for sins that are more correctly attributable to them.

In the Virginia Legislature, Nick Freitas has worked to lower barriers to opportunity by promoting regulatory reform, educational choice, and occupational licensing reform. He is a strong advocate for a government limited to its core functions, for the U.S. Constitution and the rule of law, for fiscal responsibility and economic freedom, and for a non-interventionist foreign policy.  He is strongly pro-life and an effective voice for the Second Amendment, and he has been endorsed by U.S. Senators Mike Lee and Rand Paul.

And Nick Freitas has a compelling personal story to go with his record in the House of Delegates.

After high school Freitas joined the U.S. Army.  Then, after the terrorist attacks of September 11, he volunteered to join the U.S. Special Forces (Green Berets), serving two tours in Iraq.

Returning to service in the United States, he moved to Culpeper, where he and his wife Tina are raising and homeschooling their three children.  Local leaders in Culpeper recruited him to run for the Virginia Legislature in 2015, when he was first elected and then re-elected last year.

Incumbent Democrat Senator Tim Kaine’s voting record in Congress is, as The Washington Post put it, “mostly progressive.” For example, he voted against the confirmation of Neil Gorsuch to the U.S. Supreme Court, and he has voted against most of President Trump’s nominees for the courts or for key personnel positions.  Most recently he voted against Mike Pompeo to be Secretary of State.

Kaine is very vulnerable, having been Chairman of the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton’s running mate he owns the Obama – Clinton agenda.

But none of that matters in a state as closely divided as Virginia is, if we don’t nominate a smart, articulate candidate who will take the fight to Tim Kaine, or worse yet, regularly put his foot in his mouth as some of Nick Freitas’ primary opponents have done.

Nick Freitas is a positive and forward-looking candidate, in the best tradition of Ronald Reagan.  And his personal story makes him a powerful advocate for our shared principles. Watch his latest ad through this link.

I believe Nick Freitas is an outstanding candidate for the Republican nomination for Senator from Virginia – he’s a breath of fresh air and one of the more impressive conservative candidates who has stood for public office in Virginia a long time. We have a candidate in Nick Freitas who represents a path forward for our future in Virginia.  And quite frankly, the other alternative options just do not.

Having Nick Freitas as our conservative U.S. Senate nominee in Virginia this fall against Tim Kaine will, I believe, establish a strong contrast between competing visions for our nation’s future – a choice between the power of the individual and the power of the state.

This primary election is too important to leave any potential vote for Nick Freitas sitting out Tuesday’s June 12, Virginia Republican Primary Election.

I urge CHQ readers and friends in Virginia to not just vote for Nick Freitas for U.S. Senate in tomorrow’s Virginia Republican primary, but to forward this email to your family, friends, fellow church and club members – send it to anyone whom you know who can vote in tomorrow’s Virginia Republican primary election. Even if you don’t live in Virginia, but know potential voters in the Virginia Republican primary, you can help by forwarding this message to them and urging them to vote for Nick Freitas for U.S. Senator from Virginia.
