Democrats Have Nothing Left But Violence And Chaos To Defeat Brett Kavanaugh

There is nothing that explains the bad faith – if not outright fraud – of the allegations against Judge Brett Kavanaugh than the way the Democrats have behaved in their attempt to defeat his nomination to the Supreme Court.

CHQ readers will need no reminding of the spectacle of the disruption of the initial hearings orchestrated by the Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee and Far Left activists. These outrages included giving cash to people to disrupt the hearings, sending people to harass Judge Kavanaugh, disclosing confidential committee Trump on Court showdowndocuments to the media and browbeating him for hours with hostile and disingenuous questions about his legal record and actions as a special counsel attorney and Staff Secretary at the George W. Bush White House.

And of course, sitting for months on the anonymous 36-year old allegations of sexual misconduct when he was a high school student.

The despicable attack on the character of this good man follows a well-rehearsed Democrat playbook, first written for the Clarence Thomas hearings and honed by attacks on conservative politicians, nominees and public figures ever since.

First, an anonymous allegation is leaked.

Next, the supposed credibility of the victim is established, as she reluctantly comes forward “She’s a university professor…” in a tell-all interview with a Leftwing publication or TV show, in this case The Washington Post.

Then, the whole lurid story is revealed as the heretofore reluctant “victim” comes forth armed with an activist Democrat lawyer and the full force of the Democratic Party’s spin machine behind her to demand the right to “be heard” whether there is any proof of her allegations or not.

Finally, and only after the damage to the target has been done, do the holes in the story, the conflicts in in the alleged victim’s story and the potential motivations beyond the face of the allegations – in this case revenge for Kavanaugh’s mother ruling against her parents in a foreclosure case – become known.

And in this case, as with so many others, there is no evidence, let alone proof, but there is plenty of potential motivation beyond the face of the allegation.

The only other named witness, beside Judge Kavanaugh, directly and incontrovertibly denies that the alleged event took place, saying in a statement released through his lawyer, “I never saw Brett [Kavanaugh] act in the manner Dr. Ford describes.”

As our friend Andy McCarthy recent wrote for National Review Online:

This has all the hallmarks of a set-up. If the Democrats had raised the allegation in a timely manner, its weakness would have been palpable, it would have been used for what little it’s worth in examining Kavanagh during his days of testimony, it would be put to rest as unverifiable, and we’d be on to a confirmation vote. Instead, we’re on to a delay — precisely the Democrats’ objective. They want to slow-walk Kavanaugh’s confirmation vote until after the midterms, in the hopes that they swing the Senate in their favor and have the numbers to defeat the nomination…

…If Democrats get away with what they are trying to do to Kavanaugh, the only decent people in politics will be decent progressives; people who reflect the broader range of opinion and civility in the country will not participate in or pay much mind to our politics because it is too savage. The cut-throat operators who do not believe in the Constitution, pluralism, and civility will be running the country, until they inevitably push too far and provoke ugly pushback.

That’s what our politics is supposed to prevent. But you can’t go on forever under circumstances in which only one side of our politics gets the benefit of decorum and the presumption of good faith and rectitude. We can’t continually have judicial nominees — and everyone else — treated under different sets of rules depending on whether they’re Democrats or Republicans.

From our perspective Andy McCarthy has hit a key point, and what we think is the Far Left’s larger goal in this despicable charade; driving good people, especially conservatives, out of the process.

Democrats, by their tactics in opposing Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination, have gone way beyond what has been, even for them, considered to be the base level of savagery and ruthlessness established in the Robert Bork and Clarence Thomas hearings. After this, there is nothing left but violence and chaos to enforce their will upon a country that rejected them at the ballot box.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) yesterday announced that the Committee will hold a public hearing with Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh and Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, if she chooses to attend now that her unverifiable allegations have had the desired effect of delaying Judge Kavanaugh’s confirmation and destroying his reputation for rectitude built over a lifetime.

“As I said earlier, anyone who comes forward as Dr. Ford has done deserves to be heard.  My staff has reached out to Dr. Ford to hear her account, and they held a follow-up call with Judge Kavanaugh this afternoon.  Unfortunately, committee Democrats have refused to join us in this effort.  However, to provide ample transparency, we will hold a public hearing Monday to give these recent allegations a full airing,” said Senator Grassley in a formal announcement of the hearing.

We urge CHQ readers and friends to call Senators to urge Judge Kavanaugh’s prompt confirmation, starting with four Republicans who need shoring up. RESPECTFULLY urge them to vote to confirm Judge Kavanaugh:  Senators Lisa Murkowski of Alaska (202-224-6665) and Susan Collins of Maine (202-224-2523) are known to be leaning YES but could use a RESPECTFUL call of encouragement to do so. Likewise, while Republican Senators Jeff Flake of Arizona (202-224-4521) and Ben Sasse of Nebraska (202-224-4224).

After those four phone calls we urge you to work your way through the remaining Republican Senators urging them not to be taken in by this “high-tech lynching.”
