Outsiders vs. Insiders: Sleazy Dems and hapless R’s give America worst case of déjà vu ever

Déjà vu. It’s French and means, “literally, ‘already seen.’ Those who have experienced the feeling describe it as an overwhelming sense of familiarity with something that shouldn't be familiar at all.”

You’re forgiven if today’s Democrats give you a sense of déjà vu – they’re simplistic and repetitive to the point of being annoying and “familiar” to anyone paying attention. Those who managed to sit through all four days of Joe BidenJudge Brett Kavanaugh’s formal Senate Judiciary Committee hearings a few weeks ago, for example, must’ve experienced déjà vu over and over as minority party senators kept hammering the same stuff time and again, searching for weaknesses in Kavanaugh’s philosophies and beliefs to assail and exploit.

They didn’t find any so they brought forth the now infamous leftist “Me Too” accuser who can’t remember anything yet Democrats still insist her fantastic rendition be believed. It’s their last-ditch effort to damage Kavanaugh’s otherwise sterling reputation. Suffice to say senate Republicans are finally showing a little backbone by moving the process forward regardless of Democrat cries of treachery.

Many a Democrat’s criticized Kavanaugh’s senate Republican supporters as evil and complicit in overlooking the ague of sexual harassment in America. The label didn’t stick to their GOP counterparts but Democrats kept up with it nonetheless. Sad! We’ve seen it before and we’ll see it again. Déjà vu!

Perhaps an even more troubling trend is a few prominent Democrats’ increasing usage of harsh markers to depict President Trump’s “forgotten Americans” backers and voters. A little over two years ago Hillary Clinton infamously suggested half of Trump’s people were from the “basket of deplorables.” Now another notorious Obama-era Democrat mucky muck got down into the slime to chastise Trump voters too.

Jessica Chasmar reported at The Washington Times, “[Former Vice President Joe] Biden told an enthusiastic crowd of LGBTQ rights advocates [at the annual Human Rights Campaign dinner in Washington last week] that social conservatives at home and abroad who used religion or culture as a ‘license to discriminate’ were committing a ‘crime’ of prejudice.

“’Despite losing in the courts and in the court of public opinion, these forces of intolerance remain determined to undermine and roll back the progress you all have made,’ he argued. ‘This time they — not you — have an ally in the White House.

“’They’re a small percentage of the American people, virulent people,’ he continued. ‘Some of them the dregs of society. And instead of using the full might of the executive branch to secure justice, dignity [and] safety for all, the president uses the White House as a literal, literal bully pulpit, callously exerting his power over those who have little or none.’”

That’s right, Joe. All conservatives and Republicans who chose Trump over Hillary did so because we’re racists, sexists, misogynists, bigots, xenophobics and anti-homosexual. It wasn’t that we believed in American exceptionalism, the rule of law, a sane immigration system, a strong ISIS-annihilating military or fair international trade practices. Likewise, they’d have everyone thinking we barred Muslims (from a token few world terrorism hot spots) from traveling to this country because Trump supporters despise all religious observance that isn’t Christian or Jewish (or at least that which would get us killed).

Nope, we did all that stuff because we figured Trump hates minorities, opposes women’s rights, wants to “fix” homosexuals and transgenders and to deny everyone but white males like him the opportunity to advance, right? Because nearly half of America is from Biden’s “dredges of society” we’ll definitely need to wear an identifier going forward should Democrats ever retake Congress and the White House. One can only imagine what kind of symbol they’ll devise for us semi-normal folks since all the good ones (you know, hoods, swastikas, burning crosses, hammer & sickle, etc…) are already in common use by the crazies on both ends of the spectrum.

More’s the pity. If Democrats like Biden and Hillary have it all figured out then why do they keep restating their opinions? It doesn’t show a whole lot of gumption or bravery for the former VP (or Democrat presidential nominee) to preach such things to a crowd full of homosexual activists in the DC swamp. Shouldn’t “Uncle Joe” head back to his boyhood home of Scranton, Pennsylvania and tell the people there they’re part of the “dredges of society” if they voted for Trump?

Perhaps it’s a signal Biden isn’t planning to run again for president since he’d need a lot of those working-class white “deplorables” from the “dredges of society” to compete with Trump and rebuild the “blue wall” the GOP blew to smithereens in 2016. Or maybe it’s a sign Biden is planning a run because he’s laying the groundwork to try and curry favor with the most radicalized leftist elements of the Democrat primary electorate.

That’s it! – Biden is pining hard for the Antifa vote! It all makes sense now!

Seriously, what’s with Democrats going before friendly leftist audiences and spouting this nonsense about “deplorables” and “dredges of society” when they’re hoping to win national elections? Should conservative and Republican candidates take a page from Democrats’ strategy playbooks and go to tea party rallies and bash Democrat constituencies as brainless amnesty-loving and “free stuff” seeking morons who hate America?

At least Trump’s most pointed barbs were aimed at people who aren’t even citizens of this country – you can get away with calling illegal aliens rapists and murderers if they can’t vote…but of course under liberal governance some “undocumenteds” likely do anyway (especially in California). Liberals think requiring someone to possess and display a valid state-issued photo ID is too much to ask on Election Day but they sure do take issue with authenticated citizen “deplorables” who voted for Trump.

Someone’s gotta pull Biden and Hillary and Bernie and Chuck and Nancy and…well, all Democrats -- to the side and whisper in their ears that they’re ruining every last vestige of American “unity” and perhaps even laying the groundwork for civil war.

Think it couldn’t happen? Victor Davis Hanson wrote at The Washington Times, “Tribalism is the new American norm. Gender, sexual orientation, religion, race and ethnicity are now essential, not incidental, to who we are. Americans scramble to divide into victimized blocs. Hyphenated and newly accented names serve as advertisements that particular groups have unique affiliations beyond their shared Americanism.

“America is often the target of unrealistic criticism — as if it is suddenly toxic because it is not perfect. Few appreciate that the far worse alternatives abroad are rife with racism, sexism, civil strife, corruption and poverty unimaginable in the United States.

“The last few elections added to the growing abyss. The old Democratic Party of John F. Kennedy and Bill Clinton is now trending into a radical democratic socialist party. Meanwhile, the old Republican Party is mostly gone, replaced by tea party movements and the new Donald Trump base.”

In the case of the Republican Party it’s a welcome evolution since the “old” GOP didn’t do much to slow down much less stop the slide towards cultural disintegration our country has suffered through the past several decades. Republican establishment leaders stood by idly as Democrats wrested the narrative away from traditionalists and constitutionalists who promoted freedom to live and worship as they please without fear of being shamed for refusing to say human beings with male parts deserve to call themselves women if they feel like it.

In my elementary school days students learned the words and melodies to all the patriotic songs and proudly sang with hands over our hearts. Absorbing “You’re a Grand Old Flag” is a lot better than being told it’s okay to take a knee during the national anthem at a football game to “raise awareness” of some nebulous leftist cause completely unrelated to the event itself.

Nowadays a quick perusal of the news typically includes some transgender’s triumphant story of winning a sports competition in the opposite sex’s division or the sad tale of another Democrat-controlled urban public school district bowing to pressure from the LGBTQ lobby to abolish boy/girl bathrooms to further “tolerance” and “diversity.” Teaching values and basics takes a backseat to political correctness too often – no wonder the circus surrounding Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation process was treated so cavalierly by Democrats and the establishment media.

It's sick, but par for the course in post Obama’s America. If things don’t change, get used to it.

Unfortunately, whenever talk turns to Republicans and the federal budget, GOP congressional leaders provide their own nauseating sense of déjà vu for conservatives. Niv Elis reported at The Hill last week, “Weeks before the midterm elections, conservatives in the House are gaining little traction on fiscal issues as Congress passed one spending bill after another in bipartisan votes.

“It's a significant shift from the last few years, when the House Freedom Caucus often threw a wrench into appropriations plans with demands to cut mandatory spending and advance other conservative priorities…

“’I don’t know that conservatives have a whole lot of leverage here, so I haven’t given it as much thought as I have given to other things, because most of the Democrats will vote for this and smile very big,’ said Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.), the chairman of the House Freedom Caucus.”

Why shouldn’t Democrats smile? They’re the ones who always promise to bring home massive amounts of Uncle Sam’s premium pork-stuffed bacon and when Republican leaders give them practically everything they ask for without a conflict, what’s not to like?

In his article Elis further reported, “some Republican Study Committee members may vote against a package of spending bills the House is due to consider when it returns to session. The package includes defense and labor appropriations and a continuing resolution to keep the parts of the government not yet funded by spending bills running past Oct. 1.”

Hence the specter of another government shutdown giving Republican leaders painful stomach cramps, motivating them to fold like a cheap lounge chair instead of taking principled and politically adventurous stances in favor of cutting spending ahead of the election. If the Boy Scouts passed out merit badges to Congress, Speaker Paul Ryan wouldn’t earn any for courage. That’s for sure. How much fortitude does it take to join with Democrats to feed the federal beast another 365 days?

Answer: Zero.

This is all so unnecessary too. With a decent-sized Republican majority the House could at the minimum pass spending bills with party votes alone. Then, through reconciliation with the senate’s version, win at least a handful of concessions on spending reductions. But the current GOP junta never gets anything accomplished on the budgetary front. Last year they cobbled together votes for the tax cut bill (where were Democrats then?) but whenever it comes to cutting program x or eliminating redundant program y they freeze and run to the other side of the aisle seeking support to pass a budget and avoid a shutdown.

Ryan and co. always dangle a bunch of big government carrots in front of Nancy Pelosi, agree not to haggle over anything controversial and bingo! Everyone gets their whopping slice of federal largesse. Talk about déjà vu – we see this every year, except this time it comes a couple weeks before the end of the fiscal year instead of at 11:59 p.m. on September 30.

This latest fiasco is yet another reminder of the intense need for new party leadership. Jim Jordan is waiting, conservatives, it’s time to rally around him before November’s elections – show the voters we’re serious about cutting the budget next time around.

Ryan and the gutless current GOP leadership fools didn’t even fight for border wall funding like they’d promised. Understandably, the president was not happy about another surrender without a skirmish. Gabriella Muñoz reported at The Washington Times, “President Trump called the latest spending bill ‘ridiculous’ while complaining about border wall funding Thursday morning and demanded Republicans ‘finally get tough.’

“Mr. Trump demanded to know why border wall and security funds were left out of the newest bill, and how Congress planned on paying for it after the midterms. He also accused Democrats of ‘obstructing law enforcement and border security.’”

Trump tweeted, “I want to know, where is the money for Border Security and the WALL in this ridiculous Spending Bill, and where will it come from after the Midterms? Dems are obstructing Law Enforcement and Border Security. REPUBLICANS MUST FINALLY GET TOUGH!”

One thing is clear -- Democrats' smear campaign on Brett Kavanaugh has had the effect of taking attention off of Trump and placing it on a bad way. If Republicans don’t take advantage of this political opportunity they’ll have no one to blame but themselves. Voters don’t reward politicians for not taking tough stances to satisfy their previous campaign promises, something GOP leaders never seem to grasp.

For all those tired of déjà vu in American government it’s time to band together to force changes. The freak show surrounding Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation has tarnished the reputations of our political institutions. Isn’t it time to say we’re not going to sit by and take it any longer?
