Assault on America, Day 57: Democrats’ views on climate & abortion expose contempt for kids

AOC as Super Hero
It’s always troublesome to break a vow, but in this instance, it was absolutely necessary.

Freshman New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (more commonly known these days simply as “AOC”) has dominated American political discourse ever since she defeated establishment incumbent Rep. Joe Crowley in her district’s Democrat primary last year. The media’s fevered reaction to her stunning upset was largely fueled by the 29-year-old’s camera-friendly good looks, talent for exploiting social media and penchant for supplying over-the-top quotes.

From the start the Bernie Sanders-emulating AOC displayed a fondness for jabbing at both parties’ leaders for their supposed ignorance and reluctance to get with the times as well as her heartfelt advocacy for all things collectivism. Ocasio-Cortez makes socialism sound like the greatest invention since sliced bread, an ironic position since if her noxious and obviously destructive policies ever saw the light of realization there’d be no bread left for anyone to cut.

Naturally, the airy American popular culture’s taken to the former bartender and community rabble rouser, labeling her the face of a (Millennial) generation and predicting she’ll be president someday. Because of this excessive adulation and AOC’s near-universal presence in media, I vowed to stay away from writing about her this week. But when the Bronx neophyte suggested we humans shouldn’t reproduce because of climate change the other day, it begged a rejoinder.

Daniel Chaitin reported at The Washington Examiner, “While cooking chili and addressing supporters during an Instagram live stream Sunday evening, Ocasio-Cortez took aim at Feinstein's viral rebuttal to a group of kids urging her to support the freshman congresswoman's environmental resolution....

“’[T]here are a lot of people that have been doing this work for decades that have proposed ambitious solutions for years and have not been listened to,’ she added. ‘So it's not just, 'I've been doing this for 30 years,' so we need to listen to them because frankly people have been failing at the same things for 30 or 40 years. What we need to do is say, 'What solutions have not been tried yet? And what ambitious scale have we not shot at yet.' And let's do it.’

“During the live stream, Ocasio-Cortez also questioned whether people should still have children because of climate change and further warned that ‘we have one shot’ as ‘thousands’ of people are dying due to its onslaught. The 29-year-old Democratic Socialist said ‘climate delayers are the new climate deniers’ and politicians who seek to ‘fix’ climate change with a carbon tax alone are ‘part of the problem,’ arguing a real solution has to match the magnitude of the problem.”

Wow. The stunning stupidity of AOC’s anti-child rant even generated voices in my head. (John Lennon singing his haunting anthem Imagine (but with new words) …) “Imagine there’s no children… it isn’t hard to do. No need for hospital maternity wings… and no federal daycare centers too…”

Yes, it’s true. AOC and her merry band of leftist followers apparently believe surplus carbon burning humans are ruining the planet, and like all good totalitarian-loving despots they’re willing to impose draconian measures to “fix” the overpopulation problem. Thankfully Ocasio-Cortez isn’t advocating gas chambers or reeducation camps -- yet -- but she appears more than okay with sending signals to her millions of social media devotees that having relationships, nuclear families and reproducing is a bad thing.

Put the magnitude of what AOC’s advocating in a historical context. In the years after the Allies vanquished the Axis powers in World War II, the world (or at least here in America) went on a population explosion to replenish the earth’s humanity. Leftist (and yes, this includes Hitler) monsters had willingly destroyed tens of millions of human lives in the previous decade and no doubt most people experienced grave doubts about the motivations of world leaders.

In the United States the breeding craze was known as the “baby boom” and it lasted for nearly twenty years.

This rapidly procreating citizenry had just survived the greatest global threat to civilization that the world ever experienced, with ideology acting as the impetus to extinguish entire populations of people. The Nazis hated the Jews, Gypsies and other ethnicities their ruling elites deemed inferiors. The Japanese viewed practically every foreigner as ripe for extermination. The post-war communists targeted political opponents and began the century’s greatest purges.

Life was fragile; people understood it. Back then, no one considered intentionally refraining from having children as beneficial for the earth. Did 70 years really make that much difference in worldview? AOC talked about “thousands” dying from the effects of climate change (exactly how, she didn’t elaborate) and somehow climate “delayers” are now as dangerous as climate “deniers.”

But what she’s saying has no connection to reality. While the true effects of “climate change” are still hotly debated in scientific circles, the rapid-transformation advocating leftist political class pushes for acting now, thinking later. AOC took archaic old liberal crone Feinstein to task for bragging about working on the “problem” for 30 years -- about the same amount of time AOC has drawn breath here on this big ‘ol rotating ball o’ gas in space -- yet it’s evident the young lawmaker doesn’t have a clue what she’s talking about.

Neither did the children who badgered the California Senator, though it was amusing watching the octogenarian getting all snappy and irritated at the young kids’ brash and rude behavior:

“UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: The government is supposed to be for the people and by the people and all for the people.

“SENATOR DIANE FEINSTEIN, (D) CALIFORNIA: You know what's interesting about this group is I've been doing this for 30 years. I know what I'm doing. You come in here, and you say it has to be my way or the highway. I don't respond to that.”

Never thought I’d say this -- but I actually agreed with some of what DiFi said. Here was Feinstein, patiently explaining the political and fiscal realities of the situation to this gaggle of immature idiots invading her office (question: who paid to send these kids to Washington?), and instead of deference and respect for elders the mouthy little brats lectured her on how the earth was destined to die within ten years if Congress didn’t get behind AOC and the “Green New Deal” immediately.

That’s the attitude the left fosters, using children as props to engender sympathy for their twisted causes. But none of it’s surprising considering Democrats’ assessment of life in general is rather perverse. Take their rejection of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act this week.

Quin Hillyer wrote at The Washington Examiner, “All but three Democrats in the Senate voted against the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which would simply require that doctors ‘exercise the same degree of professional skill, care, and diligence to preserve the life and health of’ children who survive attempted abortions as they would for any other infants after ordinary live births…

“This isn’t about abortion. The bill would stop not a single abortion. This is about infanticide, or, to put it bluntly, murder. It protects children from being murdered. Yet, 44 Senate Democrats voted against it, claiming that it somehow would ‘threaten the health of women’ (undeniably a flat-out lie) or somehow interfere with legitimate consultations ‘between women and their trusted doctors.’”

Hillyer minces few words in denouncing the Democrats’ anti-living, breathing baby stance. Taken together with AOC’s “maybe we shouldn’t have any more children” contention and it’s clear the “evil” party no longer attempts to sell folks on the idea they love humanity and everyone deserves an equal shot at justice and a happy life.

As days go by it’s increasingly evident Democrats willingly deny common sense to further their designs on climate and partial birth abortion. It’s all part of the radicalization of their agenda and shines a bright spotlight on President Trump’s mission to return America to a sense of sanity.
