Assault on America, Day 544: Yes, Obama, we cling to guns, religion and conservative media

Barack Obama blames (credits?) Fox News and Rush Limbaugh for American attitudes

Anyone who’s paid attention to Donald Trump’s five-year-plus political career knows the longtime real estate developer and celebrity isn’t fond of the media. Since day one -- literally -- establishment journalists, reporters and pundits have griped, complained, whined, protested, carped, nitpicked and criticized the Republican candidate-turned-president’s every word and deed.

To some extent, every politician receives a run-through from the media, of course -- negativity sells a lot better than touting positive developments -- but there’s never been a greater example of a public figure being relentlessly attacked and mangled at the hands of the keepers of the Fourth Estate than Trump. The slings and arrows have come from all directions, including from within the so-called “intelligence community”. Years of constant investigation and character assassination didn’t stop Trump, however.

Trump labeled it “fake news.” By and large the description is accurate.

Incredulously, prominent Democrat party figures are objecting to the few elements of media that defend Trump. Emily Larsen reported at The Washington Examiner last week, “Barack Obama had harsh words for Fox News, radio host Rush Limbaugh, and conservative media during a virtual fundraiser in support of Joe Biden's presidential campaign. The former president began with soft references to media and commentators friendly to President Trump, saying that there is ‘a media structure’ that supports the Trump White House.

“’What we have seen over the last couple of years is a White House enabled by Republicans in Congress and a media structure that supports them and has not just differed in terms of policy, but has gone to the very foundations of who we are and who we should be,’ Obama said.

“Later, Obama said that Trump ‘exploits divisions’ among people, particularly by feeding anxieties about economic uncertainty, what Obama thinks is a main driver of backlash to social movements such as Black Lives Matter and gay and transgender rights. ‘And it's amplified — there's a whole megaphone of conservative media that has ramped that up,’ Obama said.”

Why don’t you come right out and say it, Barry -- this is Crooked Hillary’s “Vast rightwing conspiracy” repackaged as a slap at Trump and his backers, all to defeat the protesters! To Obama, us uncultured backwards rubes are still “clinging to guns and religion,” aren’t we?

(Here’s a link to Obama’s full remarks at the fundraiser. Talk about division.)

Everyone knows this is how Obama thinks, but it’s still semi-surprising to see him admit it so candidly. Maybe three-plus years out of power and the fact his policy legacy has been all-but dismantled by the current administration has raised the big “O’s” frustration level to the point where he feels a need to lash out. But it’s all nonsense spouted for people who think with their hearts instead of their brains. Don’t believe it? Simply substitute the word “Obama” for “Trump” and “liberal” for “conservative” in the quote above and the same could just as easily -- and correctly -- be argued about Democrats and the dominant establishment media. I’ll help with the translation:

(Copied from above) “Later, [Trump] said that [Obama] ‘exploits divisions’ among people, particularly by feeding anxieties about economic uncertainty, what [Trump] thinks is a main driver of backlash to social movements such as [freedom of worship, traditional values, free speech and the pro-life cause]. ‘And it's amplified — there's a whole megaphone of [liberal, fake news] media that has ramped that up,’ [Trump] said.”

It’s almost as though the events of the past month haven’t yet registered in Obama’s graying noggin. The disgruntled malcontents who’re out on the streets chanting, waving signs and demonstrating their “woke” bona fides have largely been cheer-led by enablers at the New York Times, Washington Post, CNN, MSNBC and the major network news. Conservative media provides an alternative view to the destructive cultural trends, but it’s not as though the statue vandals are influenced by what Rush Limbaugh says. Or Tucker Carlson, Laura Ingraham and Sean Hannity on Fox News. Or those of us here at ConservativeHQ.com. It’s like voices crying in the wilderness.

Larsen additionally reported that Obama said it was up to the Democrat grassroots (he was speaking to small donors) to change minds, suggesting if they knew of a relative or friend who dared to tune to Fox or listen to talk radio’s most successful and enduring pioneer -- Limbaugh -- that they should speak up and attempt to steer the misguided un-woke traditionalist down a more righteous leftist pathway. Judging by the violent nature of the leftist hordes of late, it’s tacit permission to bludgeon anyone who refuses to sport a “Black Lives Matter” t-shirt and join them for a street session where silent statues are defaced and pulled down from their timeless pedestals.

Maybe if Grampa Joe Biden defeats Trump this year that Democrats will send every Republican to a media-conducted reeducation camp where they’ll be forcibly drilled on leftist social movements like Black Lives Matter and gay and transgender “rights.” Don’t we have it already?

One can’t help but surmise Obama sees what’s going on and is envious that this type of nationwide Marxist rebellion wasn’t initiated and prosecuted on his watch. It would’ve given him an opportunity to expand on his “The police acted stupidly” remark as well as provided him the opening to personally take part in the re-writing of history and, by logical extension, destruction of monuments.

Obama (supposedly) authored a couple books, but he wrote the manual on how to stir up and spread racial hatred.

Remember when Obama fanned the flames of division after George Zimmerman’s acquittal (of the murder of Florida thug Trayvon Martin) by saying, “You know, when Trayvon Martin was first shot I said that this could have been my son.  Another way of saying that is Trayvon Martin could have been me 35 years ago.  And when you think about why, in the African American community at least, there’s a lot of pain around what happened here, I think it’s important to recognize that the African American community is looking at this issue through a set of experiences and a history that doesn’t go away...

“[I]n families and churches and workplaces, there's the possibility that people are a little bit more honest, and at least you ask yourself your own questions about, am I wringing as much bias out of myself as I can?  Am I judging people as much as I can, based on not the color of their skin, but the content of their character?  That would, I think, be an appropriate exercise in the wake of this tragedy.”

Obama’s full remarks on that day are certainly worth revisiting -- this was just about seven years ago (on July 19, 2013). Aren’t the media and Democrat politicians still saying the same basic things today? And they claim Trump is divisive? The president treats all racial groups equally -- isn’t that what Martin Luther King wanted? Has everyone within earshot wrung the “bias” out of themselves today?

Who knows, if trends continue the way they are, Obama will have statues erected in his honor in every major city and the already leftist-to-the-core education establishment will coin the two-term Democrat the new “woke” Father of his country. It’s a well-known fact that Obama admires Abraham Lincoln, but the latest round of contemporary rabble-rousing purges certainly includes the sixteenth president. Maybe the brainless vermin who attacked all the monuments discovered quotes from Lincoln indicating he wouldn’t have touched slavery if the southern secessionist states would’ve agreed to come back to the Union peacefully before the battle of Antietam.

That’s right. Lincoln was definitely “against” slavery but he was first and foremost a political pragmatist who believed the union could not be severed. Like most men of the day -- including on the southern side, Robert E. Lee, among others -- Abraham figured the institution would eventually die out, especially if its expansion were blocked by a proclamation of Congress. We’ll never know how the story would’ve played out if Confederate hot-heads had capitulated prior to the Emancipation Proclamation (which was announced almost two years into the conflict), but here’s thinking slavery would’ve been gone within a decade anyway.

It should also be noted the slaveholding Founding Fathers were no defenders of the institution themselves. Thomas Jefferson wrote a condemnation of legally enforced servitude into the Declaration of Independence only to have the passages removed by a committee to appease the slavery dependent deep south states. George Washington freed all of his slaves upon his death. The list goes on and on. Eli Whitney’s invention of the cotton gin changed attitudes on human bondage. But it’s not as though the nation’s founders championed the practice.

But facts and historical interpretation don’t mean much to people like Obama, Biden, Hillary Clinton and (insert any Democrat’s name here). If they really wanted to accomplish something meaningful, they would call for a new emphasis on historical study along with police reform and then stop tolerating lawless behavior. Simple, ain’t it?

In the meantime, it’s much easier to blame Fox News and Rush Limbaugh for why Democrats can’t get their way. And what about the people who consume conservative media? You know, the infamous “deplorables”?

Who are we and who should we be? And who determines it?

In his above referenced remarks Obama mentioned that there’s a “[conservative] media structure that supports them and has not just differed in terms of policy, but has gone to the very foundations of who we are and who we should be.”

The “them”, of course, is anyone who doesn’t toe the liberal burn-it-all-down line and favor starting again as a share the wealth socialist nation under the dictates and philosophies of Big O, his Democrat party and their pals in the establishment media. But it also begs the question, “Who are we?” and, “Who should we be?”

These are dangerous questions considering not everyone neatly fits into the ruling elites’ conception of “we”. For a party that supposedly values “diversity” above everything else, are Democrats seriously suggesting there aren’t a vast collection of “we’s” who come together under the singular title of “Americans”? Whatever happened to E pluribus unum, which translates to, “out of many, one”?

If Trump doesn’t represent “who we are” and “who we should be,” doesn’t it mean his supporters reside outside Obama’s exclusive sub-group (circle of trust)? Who’s trying to divide us here? Trump includes all Americans in his discourse.

The Founding Fathers created a republic made up of many self-governing states so as to solve the riddle right there. The states could all individually determine who they were and what they should be. We’ve already witnessed what happens when the mob defines the terms and then forces everyone into a single mindset lest they suffer the wrath. How many have already lost livelihoods or relationships from bucking the politically correct line?

We are Americans. And that’s who we should be.

Senator Tim Scott receives media-inspired death threats from daring to be black and a Republican

There’s no doubt about it, some of the most courageous people in all of America are African-American conservatives and Republicans. The hate they endure simply because of their skin color and party affiliation is disgraceful -- and racist. South Carolina Senator Tim Scott recently received the brunt of the left’s fury and exposed the hypocrisy of the liberal media for all to hear.

Emma Colton reported at The Washington Examiner, “Scott revealed to his Republican colleagues at a luncheon … that he has received various voicemails in which his life was threatened and that he was called ‘Uncle Tim,’ the New York Times reported. One message recommended that he ‘take your one-way ticket straight to hell,’ while another caller said he wanted to put the only black Republican senator ‘in his crosshairs.’ Other threats also mentioned Scott's family.

“’It’s interesting that we are on the right side of the police reform conversation, yet we’re on the wrong side according to the people, based on the way that we are characterized in the national press,’ Scott told the newspaper after playing two of the calls he received.”

This isn’t to say there aren’t racist kooks who threaten Democrats too, but Scott’s is a special case. He's a self-made man with his own experiences and opinions, which obviously doesn’t earn him much respect from his opposition. Isn’t Tim Scott “who we are” and “who we should be”? Do you think Scott doesn’t believe “All lives matter”?

Democrats blaming conservative media figures for the way things are in the U.S. today isn’t new. Bill Clinton all-but pinned 1995’s Oklahoma City bombing on his conservative critics. Then Hillary coined it “The vast rightwing conspiracy.” President Trump is no fan of the “fake news” media either. The battle for the news narrative will continue.

Clinging to Religion and Guns

I think it's interesting that the horribly haughty democrats (yes, small "d") blame the conservative media for our 'conservatism.' Do they not think that many of us conservatives, who are educated but don't have degrees in the "social sciences," have been as we are before "news channels" began to be used as political agenda tools? My conservatism was born with my upbringing. My father was in the Army during WWII and attained the rank of Major. After the war, he married my mother, who he met in the Philippines. I was born in Manila. We came to the United States in 1949 where my father built a fishing resort on the south end Whidbey Island. He owned and ran that resort until 1964. He closed it, cut the property up into lots and sold off all the cabins and provided shares in the 'community' boat house. He became interested in real estate and became a broker with his own small office, and became a member of the Island County Planning Commission. So Obama was smug, overreaching and just plain WRONG when he said, "You didn't build that, we did." "We" did NOT build that. My father and my mother built that!

My mother returned to school (interrupted by the war) at the University of Washington, got her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Education, was a Phi Beta Kappa, and became a teacher. I got my work ethic from them, as well as my belief in God and Jesus. My grandfather was a fisherman and hunter, and taught me how to fish when I was three, and firearm safety when I was six. He gave me his .22 rifle when I was six, and it was my job to 'patrol' grandma's 3/4 acre garden for rabbits. I learned how to clean and gut fish and rabbits before I was 7 years old. Yes, we ate the rabbits. When I was twelve, I attended an NRA Pistol Shooting and Safety class. I was the best marksman in my class and won top honors. My father gave me his .22 revolver. . .the one he shot a pheasant out of the air with. I saw him do it when I was 8 or 9. I still have those guns, and they still work well. And I have not committed any crimes with either of of those guns because I was taught the value of human life.

My brother and I were raised believe that we are responsible for our lives and livelihoods, and that we cannot and should not depend on anyone else or the government, state or local, for our success and well-being. We were also raised to be accepting of people no matter what race, creed or color they were. Long before Dr. Martin Luther King's speech about not judging a man by the color of his skin, but by the content of his character, we were living that...even though I was bullied when I began school because I was smaller than most boys and was a bit 'browner' than everyone else, being half Filipino. It took me until the third grade to fight my way to equality, but I did it...literally.

Though I only graduated from a community college with an Associates Degree in Arts and Sciences, and attended the University of Washington College of Architecture, I left school before I graduated because I was offered a good job as a space planner and project manager for a large bank. Each job I had added to my experience and I was continually offered better, and better-paying, jobs. I am now retired and living comfortably in my own home. Yes, I live on my Social Security, to which I am ENTITLED to because I paid into it for years, thanks to 'emperor' FDR. It is my 'forced' savings account that congress should keep their hands off it, and repay every cent they pirated from it for their pet projects and giveaways WITH INTEREST. Illegals should NOT garner one penny from it for any reason. I have left my retirement accounts untouched except as mandated by law, drawing the minimum only once a year. I am also a Vietnam veteran.

I am proud to say that I have four sons who have never been arrested, who have good jobs, own their own homes, have beautiful families, and have friends of all races, too.

I'm just an average guy, a baby-boomer, and I believe millions of others believe as I do: Conservatives who are educated, who know our U.S. History (and who believe that the laws of this land, based on the U.S. Constitution, were written for EVERYONE regardless of race, creed, color, or sexual orientation, and that no one or group should have 'special' laws written for them), people with work ethics, with beliefs in God, hunters or gun enthusiasts who have been trained in firearm safety and usage, people who believe in self-sufficiency without relying on the evermore-intrusive government to care for every facet of their lives, people who value human life but will protect their friends and families from those who do NOT, people who willingly donate to charities without being mandated to take care of the have-nots or will-nots, people with humane values, and people who are not prejudicial against others because of race, creed or color, but rather by the content of their character, are NOT this way because we are swayed by whatever 'news media' we wish to watch, or not watch, whether it be Fake or Factual.

This seems to run contrary to what democrats believe. Is this because they cannot think for themselves and must be told by the media how to think? It appears that the lemmings are swayed by the well-paid leaders of the BLM, Antifa, and the DNC.

This is what I believe.
