The Real Importance of the Sotomayor Fight
Written by Richard Viguerie on June 18, 2009, 09:11 AM
I thought you might like to read my article titled "The Real Importance of the Sotomayor Fight" regarding the confirmation fight over Judge Sonia Sotomayor, which appeared in the American Thinker on June 18, 2009.

In the article, I wrote:

Senator Sessions will need the help of his colleagues, but given their numerical status, their performance will need to be exceptional.  Grassroots conservatives must therefore remind them daily what's at stake, which is a long and bleak minority status for Republicans, and a change for the worse in our entire system of government.

The quality, intelligence and competence of how Senate Republicans deal with the Obama view of the judiciary and the Constitution itself can only be effective if they show passion, resolve and principle.  How they perform will determine whether they are testaments to our heritage, or its goats.

If Senate Republicans fail to understand what's at stake, not only might the next election be the last for many of them, history will point a mercilessly unforgiving finger at them.  Conservatives at the national, state and local levels therefore need to emphasize those consequences.  We cannot wait for, nor depend on, Senate Republicans to define President Obama.  We must do that.

HELLO, THEY ARE NOT LISTENING....It is a wrong approach that so-called Conservatives are continuing to take, to try to reverse our slide to destruction by putting pressure on our elected officials, pressure that is ineffectual in the extreme in any case. These puppets we send up to Washington, cannot be pressured by Conservative media chatter. They pay no attention to it at all. They don't need to, because Conservative "leaders" are basically toothless, as they have no way to punish OR reward these office holders, so why should they listen to people who cannot hurt or help them. Conservatives will not be listened to until they take back the Precinct good ground. Lincoln was elected President without making one single speech. Why? Because he didn't have to. Republican troops were so well mobilized and drilled that by election day their precinct leaders simply marched them to the polls and the election was a done deal. That is what Grassroots organizing, (or Community Organizing for that matter) is all about. Obama used the same tactics and look where it got him. We have to have a plan for Victory, which presently does not exist anywhere, and a plan to work the plan, which doesn't exist anywhere also. The Contract with America succeeded because it was a plan, and there was a commitment to work the plan. The Grassroots were mobilized and the rest is history, but those instances are few and far between. And they fade into history if they are not followed up on and pursued. By trying to put pressure on, or lecture to Republicans in Congress, you are beating a dead horse. The question is, why are Conservative leaders uninterested in any Plans for Victory, or Precinct organization? Answer is, because they are just bloviating to aggrandize themselves personally, and could care less about what actually happens. Bravo! I fully agree with the comments made by Robert Founder. Without a precinct grass roots organization it will be impossible to ever get a solid Conservative elected to any political office. Even as a Canadian I can see that without committed grass roots involvement the Conservative movement is doomed to die, and so are all our traditional God given family values and freedoms we hold so dear! We must realize we are involved in a gigantic struggle for our very freedom and way of life. The ultra left wing Obama whitehouse is radically changing American policies. Americans have let them selves be fooled by Mr. Obama when they voted him in as president. This man is extremely dangerous and a grave threat to American National as well as domestic security. This is of great concern to Canada as well as to all of the Western World. It is of utmost importance that the powers of this President and Government are curtailed in every possible legal way.
