Assault on America, Day 8: Chuck & Nancy creep show falls flat before scared national onlookers

As amply demonstrated by Democrat leaders on Tuesday night they can’t even effectively convey their side of the argument, much less win on the merits. Regardless of how people feel about Trump they should separate fact from fiction on the border wall and the government shutdown.

Democrats keep proving how detached they are from reality

Michael Goodwin, New York Post

Never in modern times has there been such a disconnect between the opposition party and the realities of national life. The very talk of removing Trump, without evidence of an impeachable offense, is a stick in the eye to history and most Americans. To be clear, the disconnect is not the product of policy differences, though they exist too. This is instead a mass outbreak of Trump Derangement Syndrome that, for those infected, can be cured only by undoing the results of the 2016 election. And if by some lightning strike they succeed, then what? Impeach President Mike Pence, too?

Wrinkled, white, and wrong — this is the face of the Democratic party

Freddy Gray, The Spectator

Together, Pelosi's and Schumer's joint response to Trump’s speech was stilted and strange. And everybody knows they have both supported equally tough border security before, when it wasn’t put forward by Donald Trump. Say what you want about the Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, at least she hasn’t been in politics long enough to be such a glaring hypocrite. I once heard a senior Republican figure say that ‘every time Nancy Pelosi opens her mouth, I feel like cutting her a check.’ Now, Chuck & Nancy together are the greatest gift Team Trump could ever hope for.

A tear for the schoolmarm teaching civics to the House

Wesley Pruden, Washington Times

Nancy Pelosi can’t blame her kids for not knowing anything. The media has been celebrating their youth, their diversity and their ignorance since the recent election pushed them into positions of power. Nor can she credibly deny paternity, now that paternity is available to all 29 sexes. When she — and life in Washington — teaches them the facts of life the fog of disappointment will turn their enthusiasm into a thick soup of frustration. These are the progeny of the ‘60s, and they can blame that earlier generation that knew everything. How Nancy will keep order in her schoolroom will be entertaining for the rest of us. For Nancy, not so much.

Why Democrats oppose the wall

John Feehery, The Hill

Let’s say Mr. Trump, in a press conference in October of 2020, is able to point to a huge steel fence on the outskirts of Laredo, Texas, and say that he delivered on his No. 1 campaign promise and then announce that he has a secret agreement that Mexico will pay for it. Who cares if the Mexican government denies it? The Trump base will be pumped and the government shutdown will be long-forgotten. That’s the worse-case scenario for the Democrats: A Republican president who can point to a wall to prove he keeps his promises. And that’s why Nancy Pelosi won’t give Donald Trump his wall. It’s not about morality or cost. It’s all about the politics.

Is it Biden Time?

George Neumayr, The American Spectator

The press doesn’t appear too eager for Biden's presidential run. That the New York Times is already rehearsing the many objections to his candidacy should worry his advisers. A tired, geriatric air hangs about the two candidates who appear most committed to running, Elizabeth Warren and Joe Biden, and it doesn’t help that a candidate even older than those two looks fresher, Bernie Sanders. Biden should quit while he is ahead, but he won’t. His persistent vanity — a tendency to get “out ahead of his skis,” as Obama once put it — simply won’t let him and foreshadows his final fall.

Assault on America, Day 7: Style over substance is the way of the new Democrat House majority

As long as there’s a Democrat pretty face and an American establishment media to exploit it, expect more fawning and groveling over someone like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Style over substance or practicality is the way of the left -- the crazier the idea, the more they love it.

The Democratic Party: A Study in Terminal Lucidity

David Catron, The American Spectator

The current ascendency of the Democrats in the House of Representatives and a few state offices here and there constitutes little more than the party’s temporary state of terminal lucidity as death draws nigh. This end-of-life rally doesn’t signify any real change in the syndrome that has been slowly killing the Democratic Party — the lethal combination of identity politics, utopian socialist fantasies, and TDS. This disease doomed Hillary Clinton in 2016, and it can’t be cured by comediennes like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez or crazies like Rashida Tlaib.

The Coming Balkanization of the Democratic Party

Patrick J. Buchanan, The American Conservative

The Republican Party, even with the never-Trumpers gone, still seems more united than a Democratic Party where the differences are not only ideological but also racial, religious and tribal. Today, the Democratic Party celebrates same-sex marriage as social progress and regards abortion as a cherished constitutional right. A floor battle erupted at its 2012 Charlotte, North Carolina, convention over whether God should even be mentioned in the party platform. Yet Nancy Pelosi did last week denounce as "immoral" the idea of building a security wall along America's border with Mexico. No, this is not JFK's party anymore. That party is long dead.

Conservatives Hate Dancing, Strong Women So Much!

Kurt Schlichter, Townhall

As with everything the elite does to try and retake and hold power, it’s a lie and a scam. They plan to push an image, a vibe, a feel, and thereby distract us from the poisonous ideology they back. We can’t let them. Even as their coordinated propaganda push gets underway the truth still keeps slipping through. We can’t let them dance around it. Since we have zero cultural/media power, we have to fight them on substance. We have to make people see what these monsters would do given the chance.

Assault on America, Day 6: How long will voter ignorance fuel Dems in shutdown tug-of-war?

Both sides blame the other for perpetuating the government shutdown. Democrats continue relying on the ignorance of voters to make their arguments stick, a situation where eventually good common sense should prevail. Trump can take matters into his own hands…should he?

What, precisely, do Democrats want to impeach Trump for?

Byron York, Washington Examiner

Judging by the articles currently on the table, Democrats will have to raise their impeachment game if they choose to go forward with an attempt to remove the president. Democrats' recent remarks might direct attention to the lawmakers who are currently advocating impeachment, and the actual content of the articles they have filed. Is that what the party wants? Green, Sherman, Cohen, et al are on the fringes of the Democratic caucus. But at some point, the big Democratic guns will take over the impeachment effort, and the public will see how serious they are about removing the president.

A lot of noise before the storm

Wesley Pruden, Washington Times

The president is not likely to get serious opposition in the primaries, once bravado is exhausted and everybody gets down to a real campaign. The president’s Republican critics will remember what happens when a president is bitten by snakes within his own party. The memory of what happened to Jimmy Carter is fresh enough. Ted Kennedy, thought to be the giant killer, challenged the hapless Mr. Jimmy in the primaries. “I’ll whip his ass,” said the Georgia Sunday-school teacher, and he did, only to lose to Ronald Reagan. Lightning can strike twice, and sometimes does.

Some Good Fake News For A Change

Last week the internet was awash in articles claiming that former Secretary of the Navy and Democratic Senator James Webb was under consideration to be the next Secretary of Defense. This turned out to be fake news, which is the best fake news we’ve heard in a long time, because Webb would have made a terrible Secretary of Defense.

Senator Lindsey Graham Makes A Great Point

Sen. Lindsey Graham said Sunday, “We’ll have offers on the table when we find somebody that’s not crazy to deal with…” judging by what the Democrats’ leaders are saying it looks like it is going to be a long shutdown, if it can’t end until someone who is not crazy represents them at the negotiating table.

Assault on America, Day 5: Reaction to Romney op-ed tantrum shows RINOs on the run in DC

Joining with the enemy makes you a traitor and earns nothing but derision from decent people. If you don’t believe it ask (former) Senators Flake and Corker how they’re feeling these days. Mitt Romney will survive his latest brush with political death -- but he shouldn’t go tempting fate any longer.

How Democrats Teach Immigrants to Be Criminals

Roger L. Simon, PJ Media

A a subculture the size of New York is functioning among us outside the system with no real way of monitoring what they are doing or who they are. Apple and Google doubtless know more about our illegal alien population than our own government. They certainly have better access. And this ignores the hardened criminals, gang members, terrorists, cop killers, drug dealers and on and on. It is the definition of a culture of corruption and we are living in it.

Democrats Keep Their Promises

Much as we dislike the substance of the Democrats’ promises, as Republican Rep. Tom Reed’s flirtation with voting for the Democratic rules package demonstrates, it is hard to argue with the appeal of politicians who actually do what they say they will do, even if what they promise is a disaster waiting to happen.

Assault on America, Day 2: Democrats thumb nose at America by choosing Pelosi as Speaker

Don’t expect Americans to greet “new” Speaker Nancy Pelosi with smiles and embraces. Pelosi hasn’t changed from a decade ago when she was one of the most despised politicians in the country. Lovers of limited government should see her as a worthy antagonist -- and then oppose everything she does.

Romney Leads Walking Dead To Capitol Hill

Fans of the eponymous TV series The Walking Dead will immediately recognize Mitt Romney as the new leader of the Whisperers, the ultra-territorial group of defective humans who disguise themselves as walkers by wearing their skin. Romney, disguised in the skin of a conservative, has now staked-out Capitol Hill as his territory and has launched his first attack on President Donald Trump.
