When the left can't come to grips with losing power

Victor Davis Hanson, Washington Times

To progressives, Mr. Trump became not an opponent to be beaten with a better agenda, but an evil to be destroyed. Moderate Democrats were written off as dense; left-wing fringe elements were praised as clever. Voters in 2016 bristled at redistribution, open borders, bigger government and higher taxes, but progressives are now promising those voters even more of what they didn’t want. Furious over the sudden and unexpected loss of power, enraged progressives have so far done almost everything to lose even more of it.

A Fascist Right -- or a Hysterical Left?

Patrick J. Buchanan, The American Conservative

The left, to the point of irrationality, despises a triumphant Trumpian right and believes that to equate it with fascists is not only legitimate, but a sign that the accusers are the real moral, righteous and courageous dissenters in these terrible times. Historians are calling the outbursts of hate unprecedented. They are not. When it comes to the rhetoric of hate, the cursing of politicians, the shouting down of speakers, the right is not innocent, but the left is infinitely more guilty. It was to the Donald Trump rallies, not the Bernie Sanders rallies, that the provocateurs came to start the fights.

Why the Left Is Having a Nervous Breakdown

Roger L. Simon, PJ Media

Trump is what the shrinks call the "presenting complaint." The real problem, as is often the case in psychotherapy, is something entirely different. And it is this: The left is dead. It's not only dead, it's decomposed with no there there or anywhere. The left has nothing to say, only most of them don't quite realize it yet. But this blockage, this reluctance and even inability to deal with what is actually happening shuts down the brain and emerges as anger, the hamster wheel of constant rage against Trump.

Liberals’ Hatred Will Inevitably Turn Into Violence

Kurt Schlichter, Townhall

Only liberals can choose not to go down the road to widespread, systematic violence. But if they choose poorly, Normals are ready, willing, and able stop them. Last month, Normal Americans bought over two million new guns. They’ve got 400 million already. Normals are sitting on a towering mountain of lead-launching freedom. But we’d prefer the option the liberals have ignored – a return to a society where disputes are resolved via the processes outlined in the Constitution and the individual rights set forth within it are respected.

Fear of the Left: The Most Powerful Force in America Today

Dennis Prager, American Greatness

Leftism—in its incarnations, such as Marxism, communism and socialism; expressed through egalitarianism, environmentalism and feminism; in its denigration of capitalism and Western civilization, especially America and Israel; in its supplanting of Christianity and Judaism; through its influence on Christianity and Judaism; in its celebration of race; and in its replacing of reason with romanticism—has almost completely taken over the news and entertainment media and institutions of education. There is a largely (though not entirely) nonviolent reign of ideological terror in America. In almost every area of life, people fear antagonizing the Left.

The New Left Trumps the Old Right

Victor Davis Hanson, National Review

Progressives are not much upset about the notion of foreigners meddling and warping U.S. politics. They indeed seem to approve of the idea that an American campaign would hire a British subject who, colluding with Russians, could help their candidate, Hillary Clinton, derail Donald Trump. And Russians aiding American greens to shut down fracking? Progressives shrug. A major Mexican politician moves to the U.S. to help Clinton organize Mexican-Americans voters to stop Trump — more shrugging.

Trump Syndromes

Victor Davis Hanson, National Review

Is it still sustainable to suggest that Trump is not a conservative but a dangerous liberal or demagogic wolf in conservative sheep’s clothing? The doctrinaire conservative Heritage Foundation now claims that two-thirds of its proverbial 334 conservative agenda items have been already met by Trump — and at a pace far faster than that achieved even by former president Reagan.

The Democrats ponder a second McGovern fling

Wesley Pruden, Washington Times

With so many Democrats having heard the voice of the people buzzing in their ears, every candidate will be tripping over each other to prove that he’s more liberal than thou. When the party sobers up it will be too late. The Democrats are making the mistake they made once before, when they allowed the late George McGovern, a good but wrong-headed man, and his peaceniks to pull the party so far to the left that it fell off the side of the mountain. Years went by before the damage was repaired. The left is once more making all the noise in the party, raising most of the money, and intimidating the serious and the plausible.

They Don’t Hate The NRA. They Hate You.

Kurt Schlichter, Townhall

Understand that the left doesn’t hate the NRA. The NRA stuff is a distraction. Leftists are dumb, but they understand the power of the NRA is really the power of millions of Normal Americans coming together to defend their right to protect themselves, their families, their communities and their Constitution. That’s why they fear it. That’s why they can’t abide it. They want your voices silenced.

Are we watching a movement or just group therapy for Trump haters?

Jen Kerns, Fox News

While the Women’s March last year certainly served as an outlet for liberals to gather and share their “election depression,” there was no real call to action. There was no plan for attendees to return to their respective hometowns, run for office, nor do anything differently than they had done before the 2016 election. Quite frankly, without that kind of action the Women’s March risks becoming nothing more than annual group therapy.

Violencing Politics, Speech, and Religion

The Constitution creates a system of regular and non-violent transition of political power. However, in the view of the anti-constitutional left it seems violence is a justifiable response to losing political power.

Left-wing education cheats children

Newt Gingrich, Fox News

The sudden decline in performance in the Edina (Minnesota) school system is what happens when educators think it is their job to impose their political views on students. Every American, in every state should make sure their elected school officials are focused on education – not political indoctrination.

Why Conservative Scott Pruitt Is Trump’s Best Cabinet Secretary

Choosing conservative Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt as his EPA Administrator was one of President Trump’s more inspired choices. Through one brief memo Pruitt has made it clear the days of the government kowtowing to the environmental lobby are over.

Leftist Artists Show Hate for Houston Victims

L. Brent Bozell III and Tim Graham, CNS News

To liberal elites, all Texans are somehow bigoted white Christian males. Even a hurricane can't restrain their rage about their satirical targets having any power in America. Cartoons like these strongly underline why so many Americans find that the secular-progressive media are either tone-deaf or blatantly hostile toward what (and Who) they hold dear.

Democrats Welcome Chairman Mao To America

Republicans and conservatives must force themselves to recognize that the violence perpetrated in Charlottesville, Philadelphia and Berkeley was just the probing movements of a coming hardcore Leftist revolution that intends through violence and intimidation to destroy constitutional liberty.

Will Democrats Bet That Their Party Can Fly with Only a Left Wing?

John Fund, National Review

Democrats are delusional if they now think that moving to the left will improve their prospects. It’s their left-wing tilt that voters revolted against throughout the Obama years. Putting all their bets on a Trump tailspin is precisely the kind of wishful wager that an old casino operator like Trump was always glad to see foolish gamblers make at his tables.

Shakespeare for Dummies

Ron Maxwell, The American Spectator

In their mindless bloodthirsty revels at the Public Theater in Central Park, what critics and audiences are really saying is that John Wilkes Booth and Lee Harvey Oswald were right. If your anger is genuine, if your rage is justified, it’s more than OK to take the law into your own hands. It is, in fact, your duty. Try as they will, Central Park’s silly thespians will not succeed in shrinking the Bard to fit neatly into their own petty political box. He cannot be reduced to a bumper sticker for their anti-democratic “resistance.”

A long history of leftist hatred

Patrick J. Buchanan, The American Conservative

James Hodgkinson was a Trump-hating left-wing terrorist. And those who incite sick minds with images of a bloodstained decapitated head of the president, and cheer Central Park productions of “Julius Caesar” with the assassinated Roman Consul made up to look like the president, cannot evade moral culpability.

The Left's Flirtation With Trumpicide

George Neumayr, The American Spectator

The left’s radicals marched through the institutions, stayed long enough to booby-trap the exits, and now find themselves back where they started, out of power and clawing for a return to it. Sitting in Upper West Side cafes dreaming of revolution, they wait for the next analgesic thrill of seeing Julius Trump stabbed to death in Central Park and keep far from their minds that other park where another assassin came close to turning that fiction into fact.

#Resist, They Said, And So Resist He Did

Melissa MacKenzie, The American Spectator

The media and the left have been exceedingly flippant about what the endgame of their exploitation and inflamed rhetoric. They’ve been callous about the violence perpetrated in their name. Should a reckoning come, they’ll be shocked and horrified and repelled by the “climate of hate” that they created. But they don’t see what they’ve done. They never do.
