Nancy Pelosi

Democrats Keep Their Promises

Much as we dislike the substance of the Democrats’ promises, as Republican Rep. Tom Reed’s flirtation with voting for the Democratic rules package demonstrates, it is hard to argue with the appeal of politicians who actually do what they say they will do, even if what they promise is a disaster waiting to happen.

House Republicans First Mistake – Playing On The Democrats’ Field

The House Republicans first day in the minority got off to an inauspicious start via Rep. Liz Cheney’s nomination of Kevin McCarthy as Speaker of the House. Our recommendation is that Rep. Liz Cheney fire whoever wrote the McCarthy nomination speech for her because there was certainly nothing in what she said yesterday that would drive any news cycle.

Romney Leads Walking Dead To Capitol Hill

Fans of the eponymous TV series The Walking Dead will immediately recognize Mitt Romney as the new leader of the Whisperers, the ultra-territorial group of defective humans who disguise themselves as walkers by wearing their skin. Romney, disguised in the skin of a conservative, has now staked-out Capitol Hill as his territory and has launched his first attack on President Donald Trump.

Building the wall will prevent more tragedies at the border

Michael Goodwin, New York Post

Nancy Pelosi, the likely next speaker, has called the wall “immoral,” yet in a statement she vows to “fight for a strategic, robust national security policy, including strong and smart border security, and strong support for our service members and veterans.” That’s not even mush. It’s a word salad meant to suggest toughness without offering a single specific example of what Dems would do to plug the border. She won’t admit it, but she has no plan except to further weaken the disastrous policies now in place. Trump sees morality as putting Americans First, while Pelosi sees morality as offering a better welcome wagon for those who come illegally. Build the wall because we have tried everything else.

Democrats Killed California Police Corporal Ron Singh

Stanislaus County, California Sheriff Adam Christianson got it right when he blamed California's sanctuary law for preventing local authorities from reporting alleged cop killer Gustavo Arriaga to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency for his previous arrests. Christianson said if he had been deported, Newton, California police Corporal Ron Singh would still be alive.

Democrat House Poised To Attack Gun Rights

Virtually all Democrat leadership positions are likely to be filled by long-time anti-gun zealots, such as Speaker-elect Nancy Pelosi. Similarly, key committees will surely be chaired by extremists with long histories of supporting any and all legislation designed to diminish the rights of law-abiding gun owners.

Mr. President, Veto McConnell’s Sellout On The Wall

Does McConnell think that Republicans will be in a stronger position to fund the wall in February than they are right now? Having control of the House Democrats will also control a host of procedural tools they can use to erect barriers to the President’s plans to build the wall. Democrats will be in a vastly stronger position to thwart the President in February than they are today.

Democrats’ Disgusting Hypocrisy On The Wall And Border Security

The Democrats’ ever shifting positions on border security and opposition to funding for the border security Wall President Trump promised to build has nothing to do with disagreement on the effectiveness of walls at borders, rather it is a despicable exercise in political hypocrisy in which the only constant is opposition to whatever position President Trump has taken.

Ocasio-Cortez Is a Pain in Pelosi’s Agenda

David Catron, The American Spectator

Pelosi will prevail in her January Speaker vote. And, if America’s favorite Democratic Socialite wants to avoid being burned and banished to outer darkness in two years, she will be wise not to set the price for her support too high. Pelosi has been a member of the House since June of 1987, more than two years before Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was born. Nancy Pelosi has seen a lot of ambitious young fire breathers immolated by their own hubris.

Donald Trump Won the Chuck-n-Nancy Meeting, and Here’s Why

Matt K. Lewis, Daily Beast

For those conservatives who championed Trump based on his status as a fighter, he doesn’t get points just for standing up for the wall. However, he does get extra points for not cowering in the face of a government shutdown. It has long been axiomatic that Republicans would always get blamed for a shutdown—regardless of the merits. This was partly a function of it being less plausible to believe that Democrats, seen as the party of big government, would want to shut down governmental functions. Trump is the first Republican president I’ve seen who defied this rule.

Trump Picks The Right Fight With Pelosi And Schumer

Yesterday's meeting between President Trump and Democratic leaders Rep. Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Charles Schumer proved that Trump took away the most important lesson from the funeral of the late George H.W. Bush – failing to fight for your political promises is a guaranteed way to be a one term president. Trump has chosen the right fight to have with the Democrats, and the right time to have it.

House Democrats Debate Term Limits for Committee Heads

John Fund, National Review

Once voters begin to catch on that the new Democratic bosses of the House are much like the worst of the old GOP bosses — to the extent that they spurn change and cling to power at all costs — they may reconsider what they did last November. If Democrats focus on impeaching President Trump while keeping reactionary supporters of the status quo in power, they might find that their new House majority won’t last very long. Their last stint in power was four years long. It could be even shorter this time.

Trump Fights For GOP Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith In Mississippi Senate Runoff

Democrat Mike Espy is a ground floor member of the Clinton crime and corruption family. We urge all our CHQ friends and readers in Mississippi to heed President Trump’s warning: Don’t take anything for granted, be sure to vote for Republican Cindy Hyde-Smith in today’s Senate run-off.
