Steve Stockman

Why Sunday, November 3rd Matters

November 3 is International Day of Prayer for Persecuted Church. We should not just pray for those Christians elsewhere in the world, but for the persecuted church in America. For centuries America has been a beacon of religious liberty. Her lighthouse is now under assault.

NPR vs. Breitbart

On October 1, 2019, without proof, NPR attacked Hungary for allegedly suppressing free speech. The hypocrisy of this was stunning, as NPR itself appears to be participating in a scheme to shut down an independent voice in the media: Breitbart News.

Congressman Stockman’s Case Is A Dark Omen Of Political Repression To Come

Patti Stockman, The Daily Caller

If the ordeal that my vocal and fairly prominent husband has suffered results in only the sound of crickets from conservative circles, how much greater silence can we can expect when weaponized law enforcement agencies come for the average American and their politically incorrect neighbors? In light of the malfeasance of deep state bureaucrats, the loud demand for further disarming our citizens, and the escalating hatred for religious people of all stripes, the deafening silence of constitutional conservatives in the case of an outspoken former U.S. congressman may be a most alarming indicator of what could be in store for countless Americans.

Steve Stockman Case: Deep State Using The Federal Prison System For Political Payback

As Steve Stockman’s appeal is underway and he tells us he has been reading the Bible and taking note of all the saints who'd been imprisoned, we can’t help but note how little things have changed since biblical times when prisoners were incarcerated not because they were a danger to other people, but because they were a danger to the political establishment.

Government’s Case Against Steve Stockman Getting Weaker

Rachel Alexander, Townhall

The amicus curiae’s reply characterizes this as a case where “the Government misused innocent acts of Appellant and his colleagues to spin fantastical tales of guilt that confused and misled the jury.” If allowed to stand, this sets a terrifying precedent, that the courts will not uphold Americans’ First Amendment right to criticize public officials. It also puts nonprofits in grave danger of malicious prosecution — if the prosecution gets to define what constitutes legally permissible activities by a nonprofit, they could sink anyone by claiming a higher standard than required by law.

Retribution by Obama officials keeps courageous congressman in prison

Rebecca Hagelin, Washington Times

Steve Stockman is an American hero who had the guts to expose corruption at the highest levels. If the abuses of power that now leave him shackled are not investigated and prosecuted, then who will ever dare question the leftist power mongers in the future? If his conviction is not overturned or pardoned, then Mr. Obama, Ms. Lerner and the liberal cronies who walked free from their own crimes will have succeeded in crushing a good man who fought to hold them accountable. Steve Stockman worked on behalf of all Americans who are sick and tired of dirty politicians. Every lawmaker who cares about true justice and their own honor has a duty to fight for Steve Stockman.

Support Is Pouring In For Imprisoned Former Rep. Steve Stockman

Rachel Alexander, Townhall

Stockman’s supporters wrote that it “is especially concerning to many of these amici who, from time to time, may be high-profile, outspoken critics of government officials and politicians, as was Stockman.” Stockman’s conviction will have a chilling effect on nonprofits trying to raise and spend money. Based on the horrendous errors that took place by the prosecution, which were sadly rubber-stamped by the judge, Stockman should be able to get his conviction reversed. Otherwise it sets a terrifying precedent for conservatives in the nonprofit arena.

Free Steve Stockman

Patti Stockman, American Thinker

My husband, former Congressman Steve Stockman now sits in jail after being prosecuted by the U.S. Department of Justice. It was heartbreaking to watch as my husband shed his suit jacket, tie and belt, was shackled hand-and-foot, and led out of the U.S. District Court in Houston on April 12 last year. The government’s response to Stockman’s appeal is due to be filed in the circuit court of appeals this summer.  It is hard to imagine how they can twist the law or facts to refute the clearly presented arguments for conviction reversal. However, the wheels of federal justice turn ever so slowly. Steve Stockman may spend nearly another year deprived of his own liberties as he awaits an appeals court decision.

Stockman Convicted Through Government Trickery Says New Brief

A new “friend of the Court” brief asking that the conviction of former Rep. Steve Stockman be thrown-out has been submitted by a group of conseratives led by CHQ Chairman Richard A Viguerie. The brief says "To reach a conviction and this draconian sentence for the outspoken former Congressman Stockman, the government confused the law governing nonprofit fundraising and campaign finance, and presented its case in a manner that confused the jury."

Will Rep. Ilhan Omar Get The Rep. Steve Stockman Treatment?

Limited government constitutional conservative Rep. Steve Stockman was the subject of a four-year investigation by the FBI for the same things Rep. Omar is accused of, however, we doubt Rep. Omar, who checks all the boxes for getting celebrity justice (Muslim, African, liberal, Democrat, woman, etc.) will get the same treatment from the FBI that Rep. Stockman got.

America's Dual-Justice System Grants Immunity to Ocasio-Cortez

Mark J. Fitzgibbons, The Daily Caller

Russian roulette-style justice finally found its bullet for Steve Stockman in a system stacked against him. Ocasio-Cortez, whose support for what I describe as Lois Lerner’s dream campaign finance legislation, will assuredly receive no such unfair treatment. Lois Lerner was never prosecuted by Obama’s Attorney General Eric Holder, and now H.R. 1 is dream legislation for partisan deep state operatives like her. Oh, and AOC sure knows how to butter her bread. The irony isn’t so delicious for Steve Stockman and small-government, constitutional conservatives in this dual system of justice.

The Persecution Of Congressman Steve Stockman

By Richard A. Viguerie, CHQ Chairman
Steve Stockman is an old friend, a fellow limited government constitutional conservative, and the victim of a corrupt government vendetta. I urge you to go to the Conservative Legal Defense and Education Fund’s Patriot Defense Fund website and make your most generous donation to assist in Steve Stockman’s legal defense.

The McCabe-Stockman Lesson: In Politics, Clean Up Your Own Nest First

John Fund, National Review

Just as Andy McCabe has stained the once sterling reputation of the FBI, it’s clear that Steve Stockman has made it harder for voters to trust their elected officials, and made it harder to raise money for legitimate conservative causes. If activists on the left or right blindly excuse or ignore the evidence of bad behavior by those within their ranks, they risk more than future embarrassment. They risk never achieving the noble goals they claim to cherish.

Rove Connections Turn Into Political Ammunition

Aman Batheja, The Texas Tribune

Country Club Republican consultant Karl Rove's support is already beginning to taint John Cornyn's campaign. Even Wendy Davis is pouncing on Rove's link to Greg Abbott to spur her own fundraising efforts.

All We Want From The Establishment GOP

If the federal government is ever to be brought back inside strict constitutional limits, then the confrontation that Senators Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, Rand Paul and other limited government constitutional conservatives have forced on Obamacare funding is absolutely fundamental to that process.

Stockman Condemns Amnesty Bill

Stephen Dinan, Washington Times

Rep. Steve Stockman says the Senate bill is a revenue measure that didn’t originate in the House.
