Elite Opinion Standing in the Way of Comprehensive Immigration Reform

Scott Rasmussen, Real Clear Politics

Despite all those troubling images, a poll conducted by ScottRasmussen.com and HarrisX two days after the San Ysidro incident found that just 25 percent of voters believe Border Patrol's actions are too harsh on illegal immigrants. A plurality (43 percent) believe that Border Patrol is too lenient. The poll also found that Mexico's offer of asylum should be enough for migrants who are truly trying to escape from persecution. Since they have already been provided with a safe haven, just 38 percent of voters think the migrants should still be eligible for asylum in the United States.

'Are You Comfortable Tear-Gassing Children?'

L. Brent Bozell III and Tim Graham, CNS News

All NBC wanted here was tabloid-ish anti-Trump propaganda — that Trump is "comfortable with tear-gassing children." What prompted the tear gas is unimportant. In fact, it sounds worse for Trump when you fake your news by excluding it. Creating chaos — and "iconic" photos — was the point of the caravan organizers. It's emotionally manipulative to the core, and the actual context of the photo only gets in the way of the propaganda. This isn't "Nightly News." It's a mudslinging political advertisement.

Migrant melee shows why we need a strong border

Michael Goodwin, New York Post

The waves of desperate migrants and the “El Chapo” operation that is said to have brought drugs and death into the United States are two sides of the same problem: our Swiss-cheese border with Mexico. Both the physical barriers and our laws have too many holes in them, and Americans are paying a steep price on many fronts. Against that hellish reality, and not to mention the threat of international terrorists coming through Mexico, a strong southern border is not just an option. It is essential if America is to remain a safe haven from the violence and mayhem engulfing our neighbors.

It’s Not A “Humanitarian Crisis,” It’s An “Existential Threat”

It’s time Republicans on Capitol Hill realized that the current chaos on the border which the Obama administration has sympathetically (and dishonestly) characterized as a "humanitarian crisis," only exists due to collusion between the governments of Mexico, Guatemala and likely the United States.
