Brett Kavanaugh

Was There a Cabal Plotting Against the President?

Patrick J. Buchanan, The American Conservative

Thursday is shaping up to be the Trump presidency's "Gunfight at O.K. Corral." That day, the fates of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, and much else, may be decided. We are often told that the moment we are in has historic significance and will be long remembered. Yet, how many can still recall what the "resister" in the Trump White House or Cabinet wrote in his or her anonymous op-ed in The New York Times? How Kavanaugh conducts himself Thursday, however, and whether he is elevated to the court, could decide the fate of constitutional conservatism and the Republican Congress in 2018.

Stop This Idiocy And Confirm Him

Kurt Schlichter, Townhall

What’s the rule? You can slap around your spouse as an adult, and you get a pass? Credible rape claims as an adult, and hail to the chief? Leave a woman to drown, as an adult, a senator, and you’re the Lion of the Senate? Booze it up and hit the gas – as an adult – but who cares? That seems incongruous. Gosh, what’s the common thread between all these malefactors? Adults, Democrats, up to kill babies. Gee, I’m seeing a pattern. But minor, Republican, not wanting to kill babies – unforgiveable!

Republicans Have A Simple Choice: Vote To Confirm Kavanaugh Or Get Slaughtered In November

Sean Davis, The Federalist

If GOP lawmakers show that they do have a spine and are no longer willing to let the other side get away with reputation murder, they might actually keep both their House and Senate majorities in November. As Trump has shown, even discouraged Republican voters are willing to stand behind somebody who’s willing to stand up for them. If Republicans do the right thing, they will be rewarded at the polls. If they continue to cower and allow themselves to be bullied by tinpot totalitarians like Chuck Schumer and Mazie Hirono, then they’re going to deserve everything that’s coming to them in November.

Kavanaugh Interview Explains Why Feminist Left Hates Him

Contrast Brett Kavanaugh’s description of himself in high school and college, and that of the women who dated him and knew him well, with the feminist hatred of “the patriarchy” and “white male privilege” and the sexually commoditized alcohol-fueled party scene described in Christine Blasey Ford’s high school yearbooks from Holton Arms and you see the perfect target for feminist fury.

The Real Victims of the Kavanaugh Smear

David Catron, The American Spectator

Anyone who believes that the way to punish RINOs is to give Congress back to the Democrats needs to stop skipping her medication. The sane strategy for getting rid of weak Republicans is to replace them with strong Republicans. What we are seeing now is nothing compared to the crimes against democracy the Democrats will commit if they capture a majority in either house of Congress. The only way to stop them is show up at the polls in November and crush them like the insects they are.

Senator Hirono Didn’t Always Tell Men to ‘Shut Up’ and Believe Accusers

John Fund, National Review

Spare us the hyper-moralizing speeches, the condemnation of half the human species simply because they are male, and the insistence that women who say they’ve suffered sexual assault must automatically be believed. Senator Mazie Hirono today poses as a brave feminist cultural warrior, but when it really counted in her own backyard in Hawaii, she was AWOL. The same holds true when Bill Clinton’s predations were in the news in the late 1990s.

Christine Blasey Ford: Female Suicide Bomber

This isn’t about Brett Kavanaugh's abstract qualifications; his intellect, his knowledge of the law and the quality of his judicial product. This is a religious war over abortion and it is time to recognize Christine Blasey Ford’s allegations for what they are – the Far Left’s first female suicide bombing.

For Kavanaugh fight, news media toss their standards in the trash

Editors, Washington Examiner

With a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court on the line and allegations of sexual assault rattling the nation’s capital, the truth really is more important now than on many other occasions. The one thing the media's reports and misleading tweets all have in common is that they cast Kavanaugh in a bad light. This is the greatest indicator yet that many in news media are less interested in facts and more interested in achieving a political end. Curious, considering the truth is supposed to be more important now than ever.

The Politicization of the Kavanaugh Sexual Abuse Allegations Damages #MeToo

Ben Shapiro, CNS News

What should the standard of proof, or even the standard of believability, be? We should all be able to agree that some standard beyond mere belief is required here — and we should all be willing to hear evidence that implicates our favorite political figures. But if we insist on applying a politically motivated double standard in the name of #MeToo, the support for #MeToo will crumble. Politics should not be allowed to override basic human decency. Yet again, that's what's happening.

Bombshell: Christine Blasey Ford’s Hidden High School Social Life

Does any of the wild partying and promiscuity documented in the hidden Holton Arms yearbooks excuse a sexual assault, as alleged by Dr. Blasey Ford? Of course not, but what it does do is to put into context the allegations of a privileged, and perhaps troubled young woman, whose relationship with alcohol casts a great deal of doubt on her memory and her claims of powerlessness.

It’s a Set-up

Andrew C. McCarthy, National Review

The idea is to stock the courts with nothing but progressives and mediocrities willing to roll over for progressives. It is a disgrace that this should happen in this republic, and in connection with the courts, which are not supposed to be political forces, but which have been converted into an uber-political institution that progressives are desperate to control. The short-term goal is to delay Kavanaugh’s nomination. Democrats should not be allowed to get away with it. No more delay. It only rewards the mugging and encourages more of it.

Christine Blasey Ford Won’t Take ‘Yes’ for an Answer

David Catron, The American Spectator

Judge Kavanaugh has, of course, accepted the invitation and is anxious to deny under oath that he has ever done anything resembling the behavior described in Ford’s lurid tale. If his accuser fails to meet the deadline, or Feinstein continues to withhold the letter that launched this farce, the Monday hearing will be canceled and the Judiciary Committee will hold a vote the next day. Let the Democrats continue to bray. It’s time to confirm Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.

The Media and Kavanaugh's Kangaroo Court

L. Brent Bozell III and Tim Graham, CNS News

The media/Democrat message is that the Senate cannot have a vote until we get to the bottom of this horrible accusation. Is there anyone following this story who doesn't believe they are stalling until after the midterm elections, when they hope to gain one or two seats necessary to defeat Kavanaugh permanently? The calculation is as cold as the timing was transparent. So where are the media blowing that whistle? This does look a lot like the dirty trick that Democrats pulled on then-Supreme Court Justice nominee Clarence Thomas in 1991.

The only question is did he do it?

Editors, Washington Examiner

Kavanaugh has repeatedly and categorically denied doing anything like what Ford says he did. If it turns out he did do it, or something like it, then he has flatly and publicly lied. If that's the case, the White House should withdraw his nomination. By all appearances, a majority of the Judiciary Committee and a majority of the Senate decided before this week that Brett Kavanaugh is qualified for the job. If he assaulted a woman years ago and lied about it this week, then that assessment must change. But that’s the only question. Anything else is academic.

The Steady Hand Of Chairman Chuck Grassley

In handling the Kavanaugh confirmation Chairman Chuck Grassley has displayed an incisive strategic mind at work, allowing the Democrats to, not only overplay their hands politically, but to have two of their presidential aspirants implode on national TV.

Democrats Go Full Stalin on Kavanaugh and Declassification

Roger L. Simon, PJ Media

America has very different traditions from Russia or China. We are supposed to be immune to totalitarian government because of the magnificent democratic principles enshrined by our founders. But are we? Could it come in through the back door under the banner of people who say and even think they are doing the opposite, who think the other side is the fascist side? Or is it as simple as the fact that to some, the ends still justify the means, even though we have seen on multiple occasions the mass murder that leads to?

Kavanaugh confirmation: Four ways Democrats' plan to derail nomination could backfire

Curt Levey, Fox News

Failing to deliver might be a risk worth taking for Senate Democrats if they had a reasonable chance of preventing what they say they most fear – the replacement of Justice Anthony Kennedy with a solid conservative. Headlines suggest that if Democrats can delay confirmation then win control of the Senate on November 6, that goal could be realized. However, a close analysis of the ways in which the new Democratic strategy could play out says otherwise.

The march of the September Surprises

Wesley Pruden, Washington Times

Sen. Chuck Grassley, the Republican chairman of the Judiciary Committee, is doing the right thing, arranging for the committee to hear out Mrs. Ford and to hear Judge Kavanaugh’s rebuttal. If the Democrats plead for more time, they’ll reveal their true game. How much time would hardworking senators need? Christine Blasey Ford may have been led to believe she could merely accuse and the Democrats would take care of the rest. But that’s not how it works. She may have a September Surprise coming herself.

Democrats’ smash and smear agenda reaches new heights

Michael Goodwin, New York Post

Donald Trump, to 63 million Americans, was the antidote to both parties. Warts and all, he still is. Trump has created many of the dynamics that make him a lone ranger. He doesn’t always return loyalty and trusts no one as much as his own gut. Given his druthers, he would like to govern as a bipartisan president and cut deals like a Lyndon Johnson. Maybe in the next life. In this one, Trump is the only defense against the left’s smash and smear agenda. It’s either him or the deluge.

Democrats Have Nothing Left But Violence And Chaos To Defeat Brett Kavanaugh

Democrats, by their tactics in opposing Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination, have gone way beyond what has been, even for them, considered to be the base level of savagery and ruthlessness established in the Robert Bork and Clarence Thomas hearings. After this, there is nothing left but violence and chaos to enforce their will upon a country that rejected them at the ballot box.
