$3.22 Trillion: Federal Programs That 'Transfer Income' Projected to Hit Record in FY20

Terence P. Jeffrey, CNS News

All of this spending will be conducted by a government that is going bankrupt. At the same time the federal government will be spending a record amount on "programs designed to transfer income," according to the OMB's estimates, it will also be setting a record in overall spending while running up a record debt — despite bringing in record tax revenues. This fiscal year, according to the OMB's Table 1.1, the federal government will haul in $3,644,772,000,000 in total tax revenue, push out $4,745,573,000,000 in total spending and run a deficit of $1,100,801,000,000. The people who run our government are truly record setters.

The Poor Want More Opportunity, Not More Entitlement Spending

Michael Tanner, National Review

Both the Left and Right have been misreading the poor. The Left assumes the poor are helpless victims that need to be taken care of, while the Right sees them as lazy “takers” seeking more handouts. It’s a debate built around the level of redistribution and government benefits, and it is the wrong debate, based on pernicious stereotypes on both sides. In reality, the poor, like everyone else, simply want an opportunity to succeed in a growing economy. That means an agenda based on removing government barriers to success — an agenda based on limited government, free markets, and giving people more control over their lives.

How Can A Bankrupt Republic Run The World?

Doug Bandow, Investor's Business Daily

The growing deficit is mostly a result of increased spending. Military cuts are inevitable. The starting point, though, is to revise foreign policy. Cutting expenditures without trimming tasks risks creating a dangerous mismatch. Instead, the administration should end unnecessary wars, stop nation-building, and drop obsolete alliances, adjusting its force structure accordingly. To stabilize Washington's budget, all programs need to be addressed. However, military outlays deserve an especially thorough review. U.S. policymakers need to remember that the government's highest duty is to defend its own people.

Paul Ryan Betrays President Trump On Obamacare Repeal And Replace

Obamacare 2.0, Rinocare or Ryancare, whatever you call it, Speaker Ryan's phony "repeal and replace" bill is actually worse than Obamacare in many respects, and it is all being done behind closed doors using budget reconciliation, not open debate and amendments. To stop Ryancare's benefits for illegal aliens, and massive new entitlements and big government we urge conservatives to contact the White House to let President Trump know he's being suckered on this deal.

Budget cuts need to include entitlements

Editors, Washington Examiner

Cutting federal spending is important, and Trump has pledged "big league" cuts. Sadly, there is a reason to doubt that he will do so, because most spending (63 percent last year) is on entitlement programs such as Social Security, Medicaid and Medicare, and he has made them sacrosanct.

Hillary Clinton’s America: More Debt, More Regulation and Leftist Courts

Our economy has not seen a single year of growth above 3 percent while President Barack Obama has been in office. The reasons why our economy is still struggling are because our already government taxes and spends far too much, and in Clinton’s America, we can expect more of the same.

This Is More Dangerous Than Terrorism

There’s another threat that is every bit as dangerous – if not more dangerous – than importing jihad, and that’s the threat of economic meltdown caused by out-of-control congressional spending.

DHS Prepping for 11/1 Riots?

Janeen Capizola, BizPac Review

DHS has ramped up security at federal buildings across the country to prepare for potential Greece-like riots this Friday. Cuts in food stamps go into effect on Nov. 1, and the gov't is truly concerned about violence from citizens “whose entitlements are threatened.”
