#NeverTrump

Perhaps no Scapegoat

Erick Erickson, The Resurgent

More and more I wonder if, for the good of the conservative movement, we should watch Trump fall on his own instead of providing him a conservative scapegoat.

Bill Kristol’s Not So Funny Joke on Conservatives and America

Bill Kristol, a veteran of the White House and a variety of political campaigns, must on some level recognize that his gambit to promote David French for President bears a striking resemblance to the Little Rascals series episode where the Gang, dejectedly sitting around their club house suddenly brighten when Spanky says, “Hey everyone, let’s put on a circus!” Soon Alfalfa is the lion tamer, Darla is his beautiful assistant and their faithful dog Pete is dressed up like a lion. The only question here is what role poor Mr. French will play.

Trump Haters On The Right Versus Reality

Trump haters on the right seem to think that the battle to govern America according to conservative principles is over – and nothing could be further from the truth. If Donald Trump was not your candidate – so be it. But the battle to govern America according to conservative principles is hardly over – it has just begun -- it’s time for people truly interested in the future of this country to stop trashing Trump and to start trying to influence him.

A Response to My Conservative #NeverTrump Friends

Dennis Prager, Townhall

In the 2016 presidential race, I am not interested in moral purity. I am interested in defeating the left and its party, the Democratic Party. The notion (expressed by virtually every #NeverTrump advocate) that we can live with another four years of a Democratic president is, forgive me, mind-boggling.

Erick and Bill Have Jumped the #NeverTrump Shark

Two conservative thinkers for whom we have a great deal of respect, Bill Kristol and Erick Erickson, have finally jumped the shark and entered a bizarre new #NeverTrump political dimension where Mitt Romney is a viable candidate for president and forming a third party five months before the election is a realistic means of electing an alternative to Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.

Sen. Ben Sasse: Why are #NeverHillary and #NeverTrump the Only Choices?

Senator Ben Sasse, a principled limited government constitutional conservative if there ever was one, asks why are Americans faced with the choice of #NeverHillary or #NeverTrump. Sasse says there is room – indeed an appetite – for an alternative candidate. What say you?

Are Conservatives Coming Around To Trump?

CHQ's endorsed candidate for the open Senate seat in Florida, Congressman Ron DeSantis, yesterday issued a strong statement calling for Republican unity behind Donald Trump. In a state that fielded two of Trump's competitors in the GOP primaries DeSantis' statement took some guts, especially given that one of his earliest and biggest backers - the Club for Growth - have been leaders of the #NeverTrump movement.

#NeverHillary or #NeverTrump?

In our four-part series on what conservatives should do if Donald Trump is leading the field when the Republican National Convention opens, CHQ Chairman Richard A. Viguerie and I argued in favor of a Trump populist – Ted Cruz conservative alliance to oust the Republican establishment, break the Washington Cartel, and bring about a conservative-populist political realignment. But now we are not so sure that is even possible.

Where’s The Establishment GOP’s #NeverHillary Hashtag?

If the Republican establishment really cares about the future of this country and wants to win in November it is time for them to end the #NeverTrump campaign, get Rubio and Kasich out of the race, and join us in backing Ted Cruz and taking up the #NeverHillary campaign.

Ted Cruz is the Only Alternative to Donald Trump

The question now before Republican voters, and especially those inclined to support the wishes of the Party elite in DC, is not Trump vs #NeverTrump, it is who can best unite all of the elements of the winning Republican coalition. And as CHQ Chairman Richard Viguerie has pointed out on numerous occasions, that candidate is Ted Cruz.
