Virginia goes over to the dark side under Democrats' control

Joseph Curl, Washington Times

Virginia Democrats got right to work trying to move the commonwealth left after taking over both legislative chambers in January, moving to go after the guns — as they had promised to do. In February, Democrats in the Senate passed the first pair of bills in a wave of gun-control legislation. One bill proposed restoring the state’s previous one-handgun-a-month rule, while the second proposed to allow local governments to ban guns in public buildings, parks and at permitted events — including political protests. Virginia may be lost forever to Republicans.

Two Miles From North America’s Oldest Elected Body, A Richmond Neighborhood Cowers In Fear

It’s two miles or so down Monument Avenue from the Virginia State Capitol building in Richmond to the Robert E. Lee Memorial.  Those who spray-painted it had all the time in the world to deface the statue, knowing the state and city government would do nothing to protect this public property. The result is a once-beautiful neighborhood now gripped in fear, stripped of its history, shorn of its tradition.

Virginia dreaming: King Northam prioritizes schoolchildren ...

Charles Hurt, Washington Times

Parents are not the only ones triaging precious priorities during the pandemic. So are government officials. Here in Virginia, Gov. Ralph Northam established a four-phase timeline for returning to in-class instruction. In the various phases, Northam prioritized which students will return to classroom instruction first. Among the first groups of prioritized students (in Phase Two) “English learners.” Why should they be given preferential treatment? Mr. Northam has a very ugly personal history and sacrificing Virginia schoolchildren is a small price for him to pay to clean it up.

Pete Buttigieg Is No ‘Moderate’ On Abortion

By holding his platform "close to his chest," Buttigieg and his handlers hope he can fake out enough people who don’t support radical ideas, such unlimited abortion up to and past the moment of birth, to get elected and proceed to implement the ideas he supposedly wasn’t for.

Peaceful Insurgency Tips for Virginian Patriots

Kurt Schlichter, Townhall

We must use the processes the Founders laid down to achieve our goals. Our Constitution is a tough old guy, and it can take this punch from those Dem weenies and stand right back up. Virginia, you made America proud on January 20th. You defied your dishonest and obnoxious governor, who was crossing his fingers hoping for trouble. You defied the media liars who called you horrible names. You defied the few fools and cretins who showed up at the rally looking for trouble. You came out in the cold, normal Americans, proud and patriotic, and demanded your liberties peacefully, powerfully and gloriously. Now you have to finish the fight. Organize. Vote. And never give in. You will win.

Is Mass Civil Disobedience Our Future?

Patrick J. Buchanan, The American Conservative

If state and local police, themselves gun owners, stand with those who defy the new state laws on guns, who enforces the new laws? For a republic to endure, there has to be a common consent on the rule of law and what constitutes a good society. But these seem to be at issue again in America. Violent crime was greater in America in the early 1990s. Urban riots were far more common in the 1960s. And there is nothing today comparable to the bloodletting of the 1861-65 War Between the States. Still, Americans seem to disagree with each other more and to dislike each other more than they have in the lifetime of most of us. One wonders: How does it all stay together? And for how long?

Soros And Far Left Dumping Millions Into Virginia Democrats’ Legislative Campaigns

Far Left billionaire and Nazi collaborator George Soros and radical pro-abortion political action committees have just poured an additional $2.45 million dollars into the campaign coffers of Planned Parenthood of Virginia and the the Virginia Democrats' abortion through birth legislative candidates.

Media Helps Disgraced Democrats Northam, Fairfax and Herring Survive

The networks demand visually compelling images to drive coverage, and the Northam – Fairfax – Herring scandal has no compelling images: No howling mobs outside the Governor’s residence, no dramatic impeachment hearings with graphic testimony about alleged assaults at the hands of Lt. Gov. Fairfax, no college friends describing the blackface rap routine A.G. Herring performed.

Why the Virginia implosion really matters

Monica Crowley, Washington Times

The home of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Patrick Henry is convulsed in a multi-tiered scandal of such utter unbelievability that if you presented it as a screenplay, you’d be laughed out of Hollywood. The Northam, Herring and Fairfax scandals pose big liabilities to the Democratic Party heading into a critical electoral time. And they threaten major cultural movements surrounding race and women. Those things are far more significant than any single Democratic pol. And so, as they say on “Shark Tank,” “for this reason, they’re out.” It will be an unsurprising, and long-delayed, denouement.

A curtain call for the Virginia Minstrels

Wesley Pruden, Washington Times

Now the black and white gentlemen from Virginia have revived the tradition if not the particulars of minstrelsy, revised in form but faithful to the tradition. The Democrats were full of rectitude and righteous indignation last week, with unanimous demands that the guilty must step down. But that was then, and this is now, and maybe zero tolerance isn’t always such a good idea. Maybe 5 percent of intolerance can be tolerated. That’s both Jumpin’ Jim Crow and Mr. Bones, the star of the minstrel show, applauding.

The Virginia Democrats’ Minstrel Show

Warning: article includes some historical references that may be offensive to some readers. The racist behavior of Northam and Herring has exposed the deep vein of hypocrisy on race that runs through the Democrat Party. We believe both Northam and Herring should resign, because in addition to their racist pasts, they were elected through a fraud on the good people of Virginia who have worked hard to heal the Old Dominion’s racial divisions.

A Study in Morals

William Murchison, The American Spectator

No hint of moral horror escaped the Ralph Northam’s lips on infanticide, even as he recounted the facts. Moral horror we leave for other life situations, such as the prospect of alienating a key voting bloc and possibly, in consequence, losing an election and then — horror of horrors — losing political power. One thing we must admit about Joe Biden, in contrast with a mere Virginia governor: He knows what makes the modern world go round. And it’s not morality.

For Virginia Dems, there goes the wheel that comes around

Wesley Pruden, Washington Times

You might think that Virginia Democrats would feel ashamed of themselves now for how they campaigned against Ed Gillespie in his race against Mr. Northam two years ago. The killer television commercial that ruined the Gillespie campaign depicted a pick-up truck adorned with a Confederate battle flag and a Gillespie bumper sticker — you could imagine Mr. Gillespie driving if you wanted to — about to mow down a crowd of minority children. The moving finger writes, what goes around comes around, and all that good stuff.

Which Mitch McConnell Will Show Up To Defend The Unborn?

We applaud Senator McConnell and over forty other Republicans for co-sponsoring S.130 the “Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act”, but whether the bill ever gets a vote depends entirely upon which Mitch McConnell shows up – the somnolent one who caves to every Schumer threat of a filibuster or the aggressive one who is muscling through S.1 to limit the President’s options in Syria and Afghanistan.

Outrage over blackface, silence over killing babies

Charles Hurt, Washington Times

Perhaps Dr. Death should get himself one of those hoods that executioners have always been so fond of throughout the darkest of ages. It could even be pointy. I bet it comes in white, with convenient, yet fashionable, little eye holes. Virginia House Del. Kathy Tran introduced the legislation that, she admitted, would legalize “abortion” during actual labor. Among the rest of civilization, this is called “infanticide.” Or, more plainly, “murder.” But, hey, according to Death Squad Grand Wizard Ralph Northam, the baby will be kept “comfortable” while waiting for his or her death row conviction.

‘Coonman’ Northam Tries to Cop a Plea

David Catron, The American Spectator

It’s only a matter of time before Northam goes. The Democrats are burdened with a very sordid racial legacy, including slavery, the KKK, Jim Crow, segregation, white supremacy, civil rights, etc. The governor is an all too conspicuous reminder of this lengthy catalogue of crime. Indeed, considering how heavily they now rely on identity politics, he is about as radioactive as it gets. “Coonman” is a goner whether he knows it yet or not. His political executioners don’t do plea bargains.

The Left Won’t Stop at Ralph Northam

Patrick J. Buchanan, The American Conservative

We are at the beginning of a Kulturkampf to purge America of all monuments and tributes to the white males who created, built and ruled the country, and once believed that they, their nation, their faith, and their civilization were superior to all others. And, without apology, they so acted in the world. Those two guys drinking beer in blackface and Klan robes and a hood thought they were being funny, but to the unamused members of a radicalized Democratic Party, there is nothing funny about them. And, after Northam, these intolerant people will demand that the Democratic Party nominate a candidate who will echo their convictions about America's past.

Cheerleading Infanticide Might Just Be The Tipping Point For Democrats

Kurt Schlichter, Townhall

I’ve talked to a significant number of people who were probably nominally pro-life and who saw what the Democrats were doing in New York and Rhode Island and Virginia and were shell-shocked. But these people all agreed on one point that any civilized society would find unnecessary to debate. You can’t kill babies. Let’s make the swing-state Democrats make a choice – support unrestricted infanticide like the leaders of your disgusting party, or oppose killing babies. Choose.

Capitol Hill’s Invisible GOP “Leaders”

By Richard A Viguerie, CHQ Chairman
The headline events of last week revealed Capitol Hill’s Republican leaders Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, Minority Whip Steve Scalise and the rest of the House GOP leadership team and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Assistant Republican Leader John Thune and Senate Republican Conference Chairman John Barrasso to be feckless, cowardly and unwilling to fight for the GOP’s principles.
