Conservative 'Funding Father' Richard Viguerie trains
Tea Party leaders to challenge incumbents

(Manassas, Virginia)  Longtime conservative Richard A. Viguerie, Chairman of ConservativeHQ.com, provided training to about 140 Tea Party leaders at a seminar he held in conjunction with the group's march on Washington, D.C.
The seminar covered the following key topics:
  • How to use new and alternative media ('under-the-radar' media) to challenge blue dog Democrats in primaries;
  • How to get money, volunteers and members for your Tea Party;
  • How to challenge big-government Republicans in primaries;
  • How to challenge Massachusetts legislators who support changing their election law regarding Ted Kennedy's replacement; and
  • How to bypass the mainstream media, and go directly into voters' homes with your message.

Viguerie also discussed the need for conservatives to stop playing the American version of the 'Brezhnev Doctrine.' Viguerie said, "For too long conservatives have conceded the Democratic Party to the liberals, and accepted that we would battle the left for control of the Republican Party. Tea Party activists are not wedded to working within the GOP, and they've demonstrated the effectiveness of not being beholden to one party or another."

Viguerie told the Tea Party leaders, "Direct mail as well as the many other forms of new and alternative media, such as the Internet, is mostly 'under the radar,' and the establishment big-government politicians won't appreciate the strength of your campaigns. These alternative media let you get your message directly to the people without the filter of the mainstream media, so you actually become a better source of political 'news' for millions of Americans."

Others who provided training, under the new Viguerie Marketing Institute, were Benjamin A. Hart, President of Direct Marketing Institute, on Internet fundraising, and Diana Banister, a partner in Shirley and Banister Public Affairs, on media relations for grassroots groups.

Richard Viguerie: Obamacare is Restarting the Conservative Movement

(Manassas, Virginia)  The following is a statement by Richard A. Viguerie, Chairman of ConservativeHQ.com, regarding President Obama's speech on health care legislation:

"Tonight, President Obama reconfirmed his far-left agenda by re-launching an effort for government-run health care.

"But at the same time, Obama is re-launching the conservative movement.

"Because President George W. Bush's administration and the Republicans in Congress abandoned conservative principles and massively expanded government, many grassroots conservatives and activists dropped out of politics.

"However, thanks to President Obama's and Nancy Pelosi's massive political overreach, which has frightened and angered conservatives and many independents, they've launched a thousand Tea Parties and town hall meetings and put new life in the conservative movement.

"Obama and Pelosi have become major fundraisers for conservative organizations, candidates, and Tea Parties.  New members and supporters are flooding conservative organizations.

"In anticipation of a strong tide in 2010 against Obama Democrats, conservative leaders are making plans to challenge in primaries those Democratic and Republican politicians who support government-run health care.

"The President's policies, especially his effort to turn America's health care into a massive government-run program, are putting a strong wind into conservative sails.

"Obama would have been able to sign his government-run health care plan by the 4th of July if it were not for a combination of a real people's rebellion at Tea Parties and town halls, plus conservatives' using new and alternative media, including talk radio, cable TV, the internet, and direct mail.

"And as usual, Republican politicians are mostly on the sidelines and absent from the biggest political battle of the 21st Century.

156 Leading Conservatives to Senate:
Obama's Supreme Court Nominee Disqualified

(Manassas, Virginia)  156 conservative and constitutional cause leaders and citizens have signed a letter to members of the U.S. Senate expressing opposition to the confirmation of President Obama's nominee to be an Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, Judge Sonia Sotomayor.

One of the letter's signers, Richard A. Viguerie, said, "The media and Republicans aren't defining President Obama as an extremist politically and constitutionally; therefore, it is up to us conservatives. It is also important that a message be sent that, while Republicans may not be unified in opposing Obama's dangerous and unconstitutional agenda, conservatives and other constitutionalists are united."

"President Obama has nominated a radical judicial activist who apparently feels the need to mask her outrageous statements, rulings and writings over the years with the soothing words of a constitutionalist," said Kay Daly, president of the Coalition for a Fair Judiciary. "Perhaps the Left has discovered that the American people most certainly do not want the Constitution to be radically altered on the whims of empathy. Sotomayor's extremist actions throughout the years speak far more loudly than the pretty words she spoke at her confirmation hearing.  A 'no' vote for Sotomayor is a 'yes' vote for the Constitution," Daly said.

The letter notes it may be historic that a nominee to the Supreme Court has gone on record at her confirmation hearing to reject the underlying judicial philosophy of the President who made the nomination. The letter also states in part:

"Given that an appointment to the Supreme Court is for life, the statements by the President and his advisors, and Judge Sotomayor's pre-confirmation statements that conflicted with her confirmation testimony, we believe her judicial philosophy is indeed one that should disqualify her from appointment to the Supreme Court.

"This is a matter of whether the nominee has demonstrated that she will abide by the role of the judiciary consistent with, and as constrained by, the Constitution.

"Judge Sotomayor's rulings, whether dealing with the 1st Amendment, 2nd Amendment, private property rights, criminal law, use of foreign law, race, equal protection and other areas of law, demonstrate that if she is consistently 'empathetic' at all, it is in favor of government power, even beyond constitutional constraints."

Among the 156 who signed the letter are: Curt Levey of the Committee for Justice and Manny Miranda of Third Branch; plus: Gary Aldrich, Bob Barr, Morton Blackwell, Brent Bozell, Floyd Brown, KellyAnne Conway, Janice Shaw Crouse, Marjorie Dannenfelser, Elaine Donnelly, Joseph Farah, Alan Gottlieb, Colin Hanna, Andrea Lafferty, Jeffrey Mazzella, Chuck Muth, Tony Perkins, Larry Pratt, William Redpath, Al Regnery, David Ridenour, Ron Robinson, Ilya Shapiro, Rev. Lou Sheldon, Matt Staver, Herb Titus and Wendy Wright.

Richard Viguerie:  Republicans' Defining Obama and Sotomayor Is Huge

(Manassas, Virginia)  The following is a statement by Richard A. Viguerie, Chairman of ConservativeHQ.com, concerning the Senate Judiciary Committee confirmation hearings for President Obama's Supreme Court nominee Judge Sonia Sotomayor:

"Led by Senator Jeff Sessions, Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee are starting to do what the McCain campaign and the Republican Party failed to do in the 2008 election: defining Barack Obama, his ideology, and his unconstitutional, authoritarian approach to governing.

"By making the Sotomayor confirmation hearings about President Obama's governing philosophy--including his beliefs that judges should change constitutional principles and the law--Senate Republicans are showing that Obama's views are radical and dangerous.  As Senator Sessions said at the hearings, those views are so inconsistent with the Constitution that they could be 'disqualifying' for Obama's judicial nominee.

"Win, lose, or draw in this confirmation battle, that approach will pay huge dividends for Republicans.  Exposing the President in these hearings will help Americans better understand that, constitutionally speaking, Obama cannot be trusted.

"Conservatives never lose ideological battles in the long run.  Republicans, however, lose when they abandon conservative principles.

"The strategy of bringing Obama's views into these hearings obviously got under the skin of highly partisan Senator Patrick Leahy, the Chairman of the Judiciary Committee, who lamented 'all the statements made about President Obama's philosophy.'

"So hats off to Senator Sessions and the other Republicans who 'get it'."

Richard Viguerie:  Sotomayor Already On Defensive About Views Shared With Obama

(Manassas, Virginia)  The following is a statement by Richard A. Viguerie, Chairman of ConservativeHQ.com, concerning President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee Judge Sonia Sotomayor’s opening statement at the Senate Judiciary Committee confirmation hearings:

“Judge Sotomayor’s opening statement reflects she is already being defensive about the judicial philosophy she shares with President Obama, as expressed in my earlier news release (“All Issues at Sotomayor Confirmation Hearings Boil Down To One’).

“She said, ‘Senators have asked me about my judicial philosophy. It is simple: fidelity to the law.’

“Was anyone expecting her to tell senators that her judicial philosophy was ‘infidelity’ to the law?

“Fidelity to the law’ is not a judicial philosophy, of course, since some of the great atrocities known to man have been done based on someone’s interpretation of ‘fidelity to the law.’ On the other hand, we expect at a minimum that someone nominated to the Supreme Court would express fidelity to the Constitution.  That, Judge Sotomayor did not do.”

Richard Viguerie:  All Issues at Sotomayor Confirmation Hearings Boil Down To One

(Manassas, Virginia)  The following is a statement by Richard A. Viguerie, Chairman of ConservativeHQ.com, concerning the Senate Judiciary Committee confirmation hearings for President Obama's Supreme Court nominee, Judge Sonia Sotomayor:

"Some Republican senators are finally hinting at the one issue that could dominate and make uniquely historic the Sotomayor hearings. As longtime Chicago-way Obama advisor David Axelrod said in a May 26, 2009 interview, the President nominated Sotomayor because 'he wanted someone whose philosophy of judging was his,' which was to 'adapt' - meaning change - 'constitutional principles and law.'

"That is a shocking admission of Obama's views, which go beyond judicial activism and undermine our constitutional structure based in separation of limited, enumerated powers.

"Judge Sotomayor's rulings, whether dealing with the 1st Amendment, 2nd Amendment, private property rights, criminal law, use of foreign law, race, equal protection, and other areas of law, demonstrate that she is consistently 'empathetic' in favor of government power.

"In her speeches, Sotomayor has said policy is made by the courts, which affirms her view shared with Obama that judges may and should make law. That, however, usurps the powers of the people's elected representatives.

"All senators have a serious, constitutional obligation to the American people to explore in great detail such a dangerous and radical view of judicial power, especially for Obama's first Supreme Court nominee.

"President Obama is a statist. The real debate is no longer whether he is a socialist, but whether his ideology is authoritarian. The views of judicial power shared by Obama and Sotomayor are inconsistent with the Constitution itself, and that should disqualify this nominee for the highest and in some cases last forum to protect individual rights and prevent authoritarian government, which America's founders feared.

"These hearings are an opportunity for Republicans to define Obama, which they and John McCain's campaign failed to do in the 2008 election."

Richard Viguerie: Congratulations, President Obama, you’ve united the entire conservative movement

MANASSAS, VA -- The following is a statement by Richard A. Viguerie, Chairman of ConservativeHQ.com, regarding President Obama’s nomination of Appeals Judge Sonia Sotomayor to the U.S. Supreme Court:

“The nomination of Sonia Sotomayor unites all wings of the conservative movement--economic, foreign policy, social, traditional, neocon, and libertarian--in a way we haven’t seen since the early Clinton years.

“Judge Sotomayor frightens all conservatives.  As the debate over her nomination heats up, conservatives will provide the primary opposition to Sotomayor and will quickly launch a massive educational campaign using direct mail, the Internet, talk radio, cable TV, You Tube, and other forms of new and alternative media.

“It was sad to read that Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele’s comment on the Sotomayor nomination reflected the typical reaction Americans have come to expect from Republican politicians when he said that Republicans will reserve judgment on Sotomayor.

“No wonder conservatives now look to talk show hosts and other unelected conservatives for leadership, rather then wet-finger Republican politicians who always seeming to be waiting to see the direction of the political winds.

“It remains to be seen how active and effective Republican politicians will be on this historic fight, but conservatives are on the field, engaged, and ready to battle President Obama and all U.S. Senators who support Sotomayor.”

Richard Viguerie: Conservatives welcome Sotomayor nomination as first major ideological battle since the early Clinton Years

MANASSAS, VA -- The following is a statement by Richard A. Viguerie, Chairman of ConservativeHQ.com, regarding President Obama’s nomination of Sonia Sotomayor to the U.S. Supreme Court:

“Conservatives will move quickly to define Judge Sotomayor for what she is:  A radical liberal who will not feel obligated to keep her commitment to her oath of office to faithfully obey the U.S. Constitution.  Based on her record, she will try to make law.

“For 40 years, conservatives have not lost a major ideological debate with liberals.  If we lose in the short run, we win in the long run.  If conservatives lose the congressional vote, we invariably win in the following election.

“While conservatives will put forth a massive effort to defeat Sotomayor’s nomination, win or lose, we will reap major benefits in the 2010 and 2012 elections.

“Judge Sotomayor has a long and extensive judicial record, and conservatives will insist that the U.S. Senate not rush to judgment.  America deserves a full and complete discussion of her record and the proper role of a justice on the Supreme Court.

“This national discussion and debate needs to go at least through the summer and into September.

Richard Viguerie: Sotomayor Nomination is a Major Opportunity for Conservatives to Define President Obama as a Radical Liberal

MANASSAS, VA -- The following is a statement by Richard A. Viguerie, Chairman of ConservativeHQ.com, regarding President Obama’s nomination of Sonia Sotomayor to the U.S. Supreme Court:

“This is an enormous opportunity for conservatives to define President Obama as a radical liberal in a way that Republicans have so far failed to do.

“This is the first opportunity in over 40 years for conservatives to have a national debate on the role of the judiciary.  Conservatives always win ideological battles, either on the short run or the long run.

“The primary opposition to Sonia Sotomayor will come from conservatives at the national, state, and local levels.

“President Obama’s selection of Sonia Sotomayor to replace liberal David Souter on the Supreme Court will unite all wings of the conservative movement in a major effort to educate the American people on the U.S. Constitution and the proper role of the judiciary.”

Richard Viguerie: “Axis of Graft” must not be allowed to hold onto stolen Alaska Senate seat

MANASSAS, VA -- The theft of the 2008 U.S. Senate election in Alaska by corrupt Justice Department bureaucrats “must not be allowed to stand,” Richard A. Viguerie said.

“The people of Alaska, and all Americans, must rise up and demand that Mark Begich resign,” said Viguerie, Chairman of ConservativeHQ.com.  “If corruption this blatant, with consequences this far-reaching, is allowed to succeed, it will bring our democracy itself into disrepute.”

Said Viguerie, “Those who corruptly prosecuted this case must be prosecuted aggressively and forced to reveal the names of anyone they conspired with.”

Viguerie is a longtime critic of Ted Stevens, who lost to Begich by fewer than 4,000 votes eight days after Stevens was fraudulently convicted.

“I’m no fan of Ted Stevens,” Viguerie said.  “But I’m a big fan of democracy, and this isn’t it.

“By giving Democrats a critical extra seat in the Senate, the theft of the Alaska election helped pass the administration’s program of bailouts and budget-busting ‘stimulus.’  Soon, that seat may make the difference in imposing health care rationing.  On one policy after another, for generations to come, Americans will suffer the consequences of this conspiracy to undermine our very system of government.”

Viguerie noted that “the Axis of Graft – the alliance between leftwing Democratic politicians and corrupt bureaucrats and special interests – has grown increasingly powerful.

“From the falsification of data on climate change, to the plan to count nonexistent people in the Census, to acquiescence in ACORN-style voter fraud, to the refusal to pursue the Fannie Mae crowd, corrupt elements in the bureaucracy have rigged the system to promote the agenda of the Left.”

Viguerie added, “Given this administration’s deep roots in Chicago corruption, we can expect more of the same, unless and until people demand honest government for a change.”

Notre Dame Honor for Obama is Part of a Collapse in American Institutions and their Leaders

(Manassas, Virginia) - The decision by the University of Notre Dame to honor Barack Obama is "part of the general collapse in American institutions and the failure of America's leadership class," Richard A. Viguerie said.

President Obama is scheduled to speak in May at Notre Dame's commencement, at which he will receive an honorary doctorate.

Viguerie, Chairman of ConservativeHQ.com, pointed out that, "Barack Obama is a pro-abortion extremist.  He supports elective abortion at any point during pregnancy, and even afterward; he opposes protecting children who survive abortions.  He supports using U.S. taxpayers' money to pay for elective abortions, in our country and in other countries.  He is working to strip medical professionals of their right not to perform abortions."

"Obviously, it is a gross violation of Catholic moral principles for Notre Dame to honor Barack Obama," he said.

"Notre Dame is one of many Catholic institutions that are C.I.N.O. – Catholic in Name Only.  From honoring pro-abortion politicians to hosting 'The Vagina Monologues,' many Catholic colleges and other Catholic institutions are walking away from Catholic values.  As a result, many Catholics are walking away from the Church."

"When," Viguerie asked, "is the last time a typical American Catholic heard a Sunday sermon about the cultural collapse that is happening in this country?  Why have bishops and priests gone mostly silent on the subject of pre-marital sex, adultery, homosexuality, same sex marriage, pornography, divorce, and modesty in dress and manners?"

He added: "It's time for each and every Catholic to reconsider his or her relationship to all Catholic institutions.  No Catholic should support any supposedly Catholic institution, such as Notre Dame, that refuses to abide by the principles of the Church."

The Obama/Notre Dame scandal is part of a wider pattern, Viguerie noted, "not just in Catholic institutions.  One institution after another has failed the American people.  Wall Street, the National Media, Corporate America, Washington, Hollywood, and leaders of most religious organizations have betrayed the American people who look to them for guidance.  In turn, Americans have lost confidence in the leaders of these institutions."

But, Viguerie said, there is hope. "With the protests against the Bush-Obama bailout-and-bonus program, and the 'tea parties' spreading across the country, we are seeing the beginning of a grassroots revolt that, I believe, will raise up a new generation of leaders."

Viguerie: "Rushification" is Inevitable Result of GOP Leaders' Incompetence

Manassas, VA - Broadcasters and commentators such as Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, Mark Levin, Glenn Beck and Michael Savage are seen as the de facto leaders of the Republican Party for a simple reason, Richard A. Viguerie said today: "It's because no one else is acting like a Republican leader."

"The 'Rushification' of the GOP is the natural and inevitable result of the fact that those who are supposed to provide leadership – Republican elected officials and party officers – are doing little to bring the party back," said Viguerie, chairman of ConservativeHQ.com.

"Nature abhors a vacuum, and there is no vacuum in nature as empty as the leadership of the Republican Party today."

Said Viguerie: "The GOP absolutely refuses to replace the Congressional leaders who helped get the party and the country into this mess.  There are many Republican governors campaigning for the Obama 'stimulus' plan that is wrecking the economy and will push America deeper into socialism.  Governor Jindal's speech was technocratic, without passion and toothless, and Michael Steele's foolish attack on Rush Limbaugh will, I'm sure, cost the party many millions in contributions."

The anger of grassroots conservatives continues unabated at the weak-kneed, spineless, earmark –loving Republicans.

In contrast to GOP officials, "Limbaugh and Hannity and most all of their conservative colleagues have something to say.  They actually believe in something.  They have the confidence of their convictions.  They don't cower in fear of the President's popularity.  They know that his popularity is built on the sand of false promises and false premises.  Like Ronald Reagan facing the Soviet Union, they know how this story ends.

Even Jim Cramer of CNBC, who isn't a conservative, is providing more honest and outspoken leadership than the 'loyal opposition' about how Obama's policies are destroying the life savings of Americans.

"Americans are already beginning to realize that the new president is every bit as reckless and extreme as conservatives said he was," Viguerie said.  "But the Republican Party can't get any traction, because the party leadership is as confused and clueless as the Obama administration."

State charity regulators should explain plans to deal with expected, unprecedented fraud in Stimulus Bill, says Mark Fitzgibbons, President and Legal Counsel of fundraising pioneer

Manassas, VA - Mark Fitzgibbons, President of Corporate and Legal Affairs at American Target Advertising, Inc., issued the following statement regarding his letter to Chris Cash, the President of the National Association of State Charitable Officials (NASCO), the umbrella organization for attorneys general and other state officials which regulate nonprofit organizations:

“Theft and embezzlement in the nonprofit sector was over $40 billion in 2006 alone, according to Mr. Cash’s predecessor at NASCO, who cited a New York Times report in response to a request in 2007 for data substantiating the amount of nonprofit fraud.

“Nonprofit organizations will now receive untold billions of taxpayer dollars under the hastily prepared, controversial American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), otherwise known as the Stimulus Bill.  This unprecedented, rushed federal spending on nonprofit organizations is likely to result in fraud and abuse both by recipients and government dispensers of funds in proportion to the dollars spent, which likely means fraud will be at record-breaking levels.

“ARRA transparency measures are unfit for donors contemplating contributions, or for identifying all the various potential misuses of funds by nonprofits and other sub-grantees of these new funds. Nonprofits, politicians, and government officials will have unprecedented amounts of taxpayer money for the pickings for political patronage, quid pro quo, preferential payments to associates, kickbacks, etc.”

Fitzgibbons’ letter asks state regulators, who have gone on record claiming a unique role in regulating nonprofits, protecting charitable assets, and protecting the public:

1.    What are their plans to make sure nonprofits receiving, and government dispensers of, ARRA funds are not engaging in fraud and abuse;
2.    Whether they will require nonprofits to disclose to donors how much taxpayer funds each nonprofit receives; and
3.    Whether state regulators will issue special reports about amounts of public funding for nonprofits.

Viguerie: "Stimulus" measure will make charities pawns of the government

Manassas, VA - The so-called "stimulus" bill contains a dire threat of which most Americans are unaware, Richard A. Viguerie, chairman of ConservativeHQ.com, said today.  "The bill will destroy the independence of America's nonprofit sector."

Under the legislation, Viguerie said, "Our country's vast network of nonprofit organizations -- groups that serve our spiritual needs, help mitigate poverty, care for seniors and disabled veterans, and work to cure disease -- would become increasingly dependent on the government, and increasingly subject to the whims of the party in power."

In these difficult economic times, most charities will want some 'free money.' Once they take the bait, the Obama government owns them.  If Obama and the Congressional Democrats can co-opt or silence the nonprofit sector, they have gone a long way toward making America a one-party country.

In a memorandum posted on the ConservativeHQ.com Web site, Viguerie outlined
  • How the political establishment takes advantage of conservatives' generous natures, and uses it against those with whom they disagree.
  • How the provision of legitimate social services is used as a cover for political organizing – and even for attempts to subvert the democratic process.
  • How legitimate charities get corrupted by government money and by relationships with politicians.
  • How taking resources from the government makes you obligated to the government.  The rule is: Take government money, and the government owns you.
  • How the independence of groups such as nonprofits is what separates us from totalitarian countries.
  • How America has been hurt by previous efforts to turn charities into cogs in the left-wing machine.
"Every member of Congress must understand," Viguerie said, "that his or her vote on this issue will not be forgotten.  If you support this scheme, it will come back to haunt you in the years to come.  If you take a courageous stand against it, your grassroots constituents will thank you."

Regardless of your ideological persuasion (liberal, moderate, conservative), the attempt by President Obama and the Democrats to federalize charities should concern and frighten every fair-minded American.

"It isn't lost on President Obama, who comes from a liberal nonprofit background, that nonprofits are effective watchdogs and critics of government. He and his Democratic colleagues are using taxpayer money to co-opt nonprofits and buy their silence or support," said Viguerie.

He continued: "The nonprofit sector must not stand by while the government corrupts the very organizations that people contribute to, volunteer for, and depend upon for help in times of need."

ConservativeHQ.com launches “conservatives’ answer to Doonesbury”

Manassas, VA – ConservativeHQ.com is launching a new daily comic strip that is the conservatives’ answer to political comics like “Doonesbury” and the strip-turned-animated-cartoon “The Boondocks.”

“Liberal comedians and cartoonists have expressed great anguish at the rise of Barack Obama to the presidency, because having a perfect president makes it impossible to make fun of Washington," says Richard Viguerie, chairman of ConservativeHQ.com.  "‘The Gentleman from Lickskillet’ is conservatives’ response.”

“The strip is for people who can't help but laugh at the politicians in Washington,” says Viguerie.

“The Gentleman from Lickskillet” is the first conservative comic strip to interweave humor and satire with continuing storylines and a large cast of characters.  The strip runs daily, Monday through Saturday.  A Sunday version is set to launch next month.

The strip stars Randall Dill, a member of Congress; his family, including his wife (an assistant district attorney) and their young daughter; his congressional staff; his friends and constituents back home; and the politicians, bureaucrats, and politically correct people that they encounter in the course of their adventures.

The strip, which appears at ConservativeHQ.com, began unofficially three weeks ago with a sequence satirizing the inauguration of the new President.   The current week, with a link to the complete archive, can be found at http://conservativehq.com/lickskillet/.

The strip’s creators are Steven J. Allen, a journalist and longtime Washington insider, and cartoonist Kevin Tuma.

Allen was raised on a chicken farm—like his main character—in the Appalachian foothills of Alabama. A former newspaper reporter and radio news director, Allen served as senior editor of Conservative Digest magazine, as vice president of a think tank on Washington’s K Street, and as press secretary to a U.S. Senator.  His commentaries have appeared in such publications as Newsday and The New York Times.  He has a Juris Doctorate from Cumberland School of Law and a PhD from George Mason University.

Tuma is an editorial cartoonist and comic book artist from Texas.  He pencilled such comic book series as Tales of the Green Hornet, The Twilight Zone, and Dan Turner, Hollywood Detective, and was a regular contributor to Cracked magazine.  His political cartoons have appeared on the CNS News Web site and in such publications as The American Conservative and the Cato Institute journal Regulation.

For material for the strip, Allen and Tuma say they will scour canonical sources such as the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the Blagojevich transcripts, the written works of Caroline Kennedy, and the Army Field Manual section on interrogation.   “This will be the most accurate, thoroughly researched comic strip ever to feature time-travelling historians and Dutch-speaking cows,” the cartoonists promised.

McCain attempts to lead without a message or following

Establishes new "Grassroots" organization but forgets the need for "roots" in movement

Manassas, Virginia – On Wednesday afternoon, Senator and former presidential hopeful, John McCain, announced the creation of his new grassroots organization named "Country First."

Commenting on the new organization, ConservativeHQ.com Chairman Richard Viguerie stated, "Senator John McCain is a General without an army.  He’s attempting to lead but he has no followers because his trumpet does not sound certain."

In a message sent to presidential supporters, Senator McCain described the new organization as an effort to "better define our Republican ideals and message, recruit and back, strong, dedicated candidates and continue our efforts to bring real reform to government."

Viguerie continued, "I'm not sure what Senator McCain is referring to when he talks about 'Republican ideals' but if it's along the lines of McCain-Feingold, amnesty for Illegal immigrants, carbon caps, 'gun show loopholes' or trillion-dollar Wall Street bailouts, I think he meant to say 'Big Government ideals'."

McCain, who lacked the backing of Conservatives until the selection of Governor Palin as his vice-presidential running mate, was a supporter of the trillion-dollar Wall Street bailout and was the primary driver behind the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act (McCain-Feingold).

Senator McCain also advocated closing alleged "gun show loopholes" during his presidential campaign and teamed with Senator Joe Lieberman on legislation to develop a cap on carbon emissions to combat "man-made global warming."

"McCain is so out of sync with grassroots Republicans on many important issues that most campaign contributions are likely to come from his usual source of political contributors -- lobbyists and other corporate, big government interests," stated Viguerie.
