President Trump Stop Sharing Intelligence With Democrat Leaker Adam Schiff

John Ratcliffe
The latest in a string of illegal leaks of classified information from Democrats was the leak of the purported details of an intelligence briefing on Russian efforts to "help" President Trump and Sen. Bernie Sanders win the 2020 presidential election.

The evidence as to who is behind this leak strongly points to the despicable Rep. Adam Schiff or some member of his staff. This latest outrage has drawn intelligence professionals, such as our good friend Fred Fleitz, to say it is long overdue for the Trump administration to stop these leaks by cutting off Schiff’s access to sensitive intelligence.

According to House Republican intelligence committee members and Trump officials, there is no evidence for the intelligence official’s claim that Russia wants Trump to win the election and this assessment may have been an exaggeration or misinterpreted. It is also alarming that this briefing was provided to Congress before it was briefed to the White House, wrote Fleitz in an op-ed for Fox News.

But the most troubling issue, wrote Fleitz, is that this was a sensitive classified assessment -- even if it was wrong -- that House Intelligence Committee Democratic members immediately leaked for political advantage.

The recent leaks from the intelligence briefing on Russian meddling in the 2020 presidential election is an indication that this situation has become untenable ever since Schiff took over as House Intelligence Committee chairman in January 2019.

And Fred Fleitz isn’t the only respected member of the intelligence community with concerns about Schiff.

Rep. John Ratcliffe, a former federal prosecutor and member of the intelligence panel, hit Schiff for his leaks about classified intelligence on the alleged Russian inference in the 2020 election.

“He's at it again by putting out, through his committee, information that is false,” the Texas lawmaker told Maria Bartiromo on Fox News's Sunday Morning Futures. “Look, I'm not trying to be hyperbolic here, but I don't know anyone in the last three years who has done more to help Vladimir Putin and Russia with their efforts to sow the seeds of discord in American elections and American election security than Adam Schiff has.”

The Washington Examiner’s Jerry Dunlevy reported the controversial classified briefing happened earlier this month and was conducted by Shelby Pierson, the intelligence community election threats executive under then-Acting Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire. During the meeting, sources cited by the New York Times on Thursday claimed Pierson warned that “Russia was interfering in the 2020 campaign to try to get President Trump reelected.”

Ratcliffe said he could not provide specifics about “a classified briefing that was intended to remain secret,” but he did deny the accuracy of the reporting.

“We see when there's a story about — that is allegedly anti-Trump or negative for the president, it shows up in newspapers because either Democratic members or Democratic staffers leak it,” the Texas Republican said Sunday. “The problem is, in this case, they have leaked information that's not accurate.”

“All of these things have been done by Democrats for their political gain, but has promoted everything that Russia has tried to accomplish,” Ratcliffe claimed according to Mr. Dunlevy’s reporting. “And the Democrats have been their biggest allies.”

"They ought to investigate Adam Schiff for leaking that information," President Trump told reporters at a press gaggle as he was headed to India, adding that it was 2016 all over again for Sanders. The problem is that the “they” President Trump was talking about are all people who report to him, but in whom he apparently has no confidence, otherwise he’d order them to investigate the leak.

We are reminded that Mr. Fleitz predicted this problem long ago when he said that Schiff’s leaking was so severe, the Trump administration should take extraordinary steps to prevent it, including withholding of sensitive intelligence from Schiff's committee.

It is time to end the fiction that Schiff's House Intelligence Committee is engaged in serious oversight of U.S. intelligence. Unless House Speaker Nancy Pelosi removes Schiff as chairman and cracks down on leaks by the committee’s Democratic members, the Trump administration should take drastic action to prevent the committee from further damaging U.S. national security through its constant leaks.
