Can We Turn Around America’s Politician-Made Decline?

Our Twitter friend @seanmdav Sean Davis, CEO and Co-Founder of the Federalist, posted a

very troubling essay on Twitter (OK, Elon it is now X) in which he sketched out the depth of America’s decline under Joe Biden and the Democrats.

The impetus for Mr. Davis’s dark warning was the revelation that in the face of Communist Chinese, Russian and Iranian aggression the Navy is years behind in the shipbuilding program necessary to project American power and protect our interests across the globe.

 Wrote Mr. Davis:

Every aspect of American life—the very things that made this country the richest and most powerful in history—is in rapid decline, and none of the political leaders in power today in either party seem to care. We are in obvious religious, moral, cultural, economic, educational, and military decline. Everyone sees it and everyone knows it, and yet no one seems to care enough to stop it.

We put a man on the moon with slide rules, but we can’t keep plane doors from falling off mid-flight. We harnessed the atom and discovered the secret to limitless clean energy, but decided it would be better to pockmark the land with giant bird blenders masquerading as wind mills. We rescued a world at war with itself not once but twice, but couldn’t manage to defeat an inbred band of Stone Age goat herders. Our streets used to be the envy of the world, and now they’re filled with excrement, tents, and needles. The dollar was once the international symbol of strength and stability, but a century of overspending and delusional monetary policy has [reduced] its value by 95 percent.

Imagine America as a car. Then imagine the government stole it from you, used it as an ash tray, drove it off a cliff, sold off the remaining parts, gave the cash proceeds to its shady foreign friends, and then billed you for the damages. That is what our politicians have done to this country.

We are rapidly approaching the point where the decline becomes irreversible. And the most evil and tragic aspect of the entire situation is that it never had to be this way. It was all preventable. But none of the people in position to prevent it had any interesting (sic) in stopping the decline, because they were too busy using it to get more money and power for themselves.

In a way, Mr. Davis’s warning of America’s politician-made decline echoes former President Donald Trump’s 2016 speech in Monessen, Pennsylvania that made us into diehard supporters of Mr. Trump:

Many Pennsylvania towns, once thriving and humming, are now in a state of total disrepair. This wave of globalization has wiped out totally, totally, our middle class. It does not have to be this way. We can turn it around and we can turn it around fast.

But if we are going to deliver real change, we’re going to have to reject the campaign of fear and intimidation being pursued by powerful corporations, media leaks and political dynasties. The people who rigged the system for their benefit will do anything and say anything to keep things exactly the way they are.

The people who rigged the system are supporting Hillary Clinton because they know as long as she is in charge, nothing is going to change. The inner cities will remain poor. The factories will remain closed. The borders will remain open. The special interests will remain firmly in control. Hillary Clinton and her friends in global finance want to scare America into thinking small.

And Donald Trump did turn it around – despite intense Democrat opposition, after just three years of Trump’s economic policies by January 2020 in many ways Americans had never had it so good.

Unemployment was at a 50-year low, economic growth was steady, inflation was tame, and consumer confidence was high, with record low unemployment rates for African Americans, Hispanics and people with less than a high school diploma. Indeed, nearly 6.7 million more Americans are employed in January 2020 than when Trump took office. 

And Americans felt good about the future, especially compared with the end of Obama’s second term, in January 2020 the Gallup Economic Confidence Index stood at +40.

Contrast that with today, Gallup’s Economic Confidence Index for Joe Biden was at -20 in March, similar to the -22 found in February but sharply higher than the readings near -50 measured in fall of 2023.

Sean Davis is right, America is in a steep, near suicidal, politician-made decline – but as Donald Trump said, and proved – It does not have to be this way. We can turn it around and we can turn it around fast. Vote Trump to end America’s decline.
