Today's Secure Freedom Minute with Frank Gaffney: Last night, the Biden administration sent eleven Yemeni jihadists held for years at the military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to the Persian Gulf nation of Oman. This step is the latest effort by the outgoing president’s team to undermine his successor – who wisely kept “Gitmo” open – and to sabotage the national security.
Team Biden hopes to get the remaining fifteen prisoners out of Gitmo and shutter it before Trump takes office. That would foreclose the option of incarcerating there other dangerous jihadists and trying them in offshore military tribunals rather than civilian courts – thereby denying them constitutional rights to which prisoners of war should not be entitled.
President-elect Trump should serve notice now that any country that accepts the remaining jihadists at Guantanamo Bay will be deemed to be a hostile power by the United States of America and treated accordingly.
