The first confirmation hearings for some of President Trump’s high profile Cabinet nominees, such as Secretary of Defense nominee Pete Hegseth, Attorney General Pam Bondi and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, went great, as even some Democrats were forced to admit.
However, the Senate has announced no plans to confirm any of President Trump’s nominees in the hours or days after he takes the oath of office on Monday.
A few decades ago, we might not have worried about that, knowing that the old rules we were taught in Civics Class still applied and America’s tradition of the peaceful transfer of power after an election would be honored.
But Democrats have, perhaps irrevocably, broken that tradition.
One of the chief examples of Democrats undermining the constitutional transfer of power occurred in 2017, when Obama’s Deputy Attorney General, Sally Yates, was left in place to undermine President Trump by keeping the unprecedented and completely phony Russia collusion operation going against the newly inaugurated President.
This was completely different than the old DC game of both political parties’ political appointees “burrowing in” as civil servants – this was part of a broader wrecking operation conducted against Trump by senior Democrat operatives.
And it looks like Biden has teed-up something similar for the second Trump administration.

The Executive Orders regarding succession are especially troubling since they represent an effort to lock-in the control of Far Left Biden-aligned Democrat operatives beyond the Inauguration when the peaceful transition of power is supposed to be accomplished.
Of course, what is done by the pen may be undone by the pen, and President-elect Trump can issue Executive Orders to reverse or rescind Biden’s Executive Orders – but that adds a half-dozen Executive Orders to the 100 or so that President Trump has already previewed.
And it adds time beyond the Inauguration for Biden’s operatives to continue to control the levers of government power and stymie President Trump’s agenda before it even gets off the ground.
In an ideal world, with a Senate in Republican hands and everyone on the same page, Trump’s key appointees would be confirmed on Inauguration Day, or soon after, but so far there is no indication the Senate has any sense of urgency about confirming Secretary of Defense nominee Pete Hegseth, Attorney General Pam Bondi and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, let alone Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem or FBI Director Kash Patel.
