Trump Garners Major Democrat Endorsement - Peter Deutsch Cites Harris Weakness On Iran As ‘driving force’ Behind Endorsement

Lifelong Democrat and former Representative Peter Deutsch, who represented Florida’s 20th Congressional District from 1993-2005, announced his support for Donald Trump on a call organized by the Trump campaign to mark the anniversary of the Hamas attacks on Israel.

“I feel very comfortable today publicly announcing that I’m endorsing Donald Trump to be reelected as president,” Deutsch said, adding he intends to vote for Trump on Election Day.

Deutsch said he was supportive of Trump’s stances on immigration policy and school choice, but that the “driving force for me to make this decision is what I believe is the most important factor in being president, which is really world peace.”

“And I think that Kamala Harris and the Harris-Biden administration in terms of what they have done and are doing … make the world a dramatically less safe place,” Deutsch added, according to reporting by Brett Samuels of The Hill.

Deutsch, who splits his time between Israel and Florida and served in Congress from 1993 to 2005, expressed particular approval of Trump’s hardline approach to Iran, including recent remarks in which the former president rebutted President Joe Biden in saying Israel should strike the country’s nuclear facilities.

“Their policies towards Iran make the world a dramatically less safe place,” Deutsch, who is Jewish, said in his brief remarks during a media call reported by Matthew Kassel of the Jewish Insider. “It’s not just about what is happening in the Middle East. It’s literally about the homeland. It’s about Israel. Iran, their enemy is not just Israel — their enemy remains the United States. They still want to destroy the United States.”

The Biden-Harris administration “would make Neville Chamberlain proud in terms of how they’re reacting,” he said,” noting that the “driving force” behind his endorsement is “really world peace.”

“For what I believe is the most important job of the president of the United States, which is trying to retain peace in the world, there is an extraordinarily clear choice that I think every American, hopefully, will come to the same conclusion that I have, that President Trump should become the next president the United States,” Deutsch, who represented a South Florida congressional district, said according to Mr. Kassel’s reporting.

Deutsch expressed support for Trump's stance that the U.S. should have taken an offensive position in the wake of the deadly Oct. 7 Hamas attacks and should be tougher on Iran.

"Iran, their enemy is not just Israel - their enemy remains the United States. They still want to destroy the United States," Deutsch said according to reporting by Morgan Music of thelatintimes.com.

In an op-ed in the Jerusalem Post expanding upon the comments he made on the media call, former Rep. Deutsch observed, that “As president, Trump had a credible and defined position to use force to contain Iran, including the elimination of IRGC commander Qasem Soleimani. The Biden-Harris administration has had the exact opposite position on the use of force to contain Iran.

“The tragic, horrific results of the changes in policy from the Trump administration to the Biden-Harris administration are the events from October 7 to today in Israel and throughout the Middle East, including the deaths of American servicemen in Jordan.”

Trump has courted Jewish voters, including a recent event the campaign called, "Fighting Antisemitism in America." He highlighted his administration's Pro-Israel accomplishments before claiming that, "In my opinion, the Jewish people would have a lot to do with a loss," in reference to the 2024 election, reported Ms. Music.

“The world is a very dangerous place, a result in part due to the Biden-Harris foreign policy. I fear it will become far more dangerous if Kamala Harris takes the wheel and is elected the 47th president. Under president Trump, the United States experienced four years of peace and prosperity. We can expect the same in the next four and a second Trump administration,” concluded lifelong Democrat and former Representative Peter Deutsch.
