Trump’s Speech: Peace And Prosperity

George Rasley, CHQ Editor

President Donald Trump’s remarks to the Joint Session of Congress last night were, at 1 hour and 40 minutes the longest presidential address to Congress in our country’s history, but they were not a traditional “State of the Union” address. Rather, the speech was a unique

combination of truth telling, national reflection, soaring aspiration, and yes entertainment, that only Donald Trump could make work.

And, as only Donald Trump can do, he managed to entice the Democrats into nationally televised acts self-immolation that our colleague Matt Holloway will cover in another article in today’s CHQ.

But the parts of the evening’s Joint Session that will outlive the 24-hour news cycle did not belong to the Democrats but to President Trump who in methodical fashion laid out a vision for a new America, a new world, and most importantly, how to get there.

"We have accomplished more in 43 days than most administrations accomplish in four years or eight years, and we are just getting started," Trump said. "I return to this chamber tonight to report that America’s momentum is back. Our spirit is back. Our pride is back. Our confidence is back. And the American dream is surging, bigger and better than ever before.

"The American dream is unstoppable, and our country is on the verge of a comeback the likes of which the world has never witnessed and perhaps will never witness again," Trump said.

Central to Trump’s vision for this new world is a restored and reinvigorated American economy.

President Trump unveiled a plan for fair and reciprocal trade, making clear to the world that the United States will no longer tolerate being ripped off — a plan met with praise across the board here in the United States.

In his remarks the President identified some $2 trillion of new investment in the United States pledged in the six weeks he has been in office.

These new investments – with more on the horizon – are anticipated to drive a renewal of American manufacturing, encouraged by Trump’s reciprocal tariff schedule and his proposed pro-growth tax plan.

"I also want to make interest payments on car loans tax deductible, but only if the car is made in America," he said.

The announcement came as Trump extolled his efforts to bolster the American economy, provide tax relief to U.S. citizens, and encourage domestic production.

From autos, to farm products, to shipbuilding all will benefit from the tax advantages President Trump has proposed, or will include in his upcoming budget and tax package.

In President Trump’s vision these new pro-growth policies will result in a renaissance of the American economy that produced stable family incomes and an unmatched quality of life for American working families before those jobs were exported overseas.

With this economic growth – fueled by pro-growth regulatory reforms and tax policies the United States will also be able to fund world-changing defense technologies, what the President called America’s Golden Dome, modeled on the Israeli “Iron Dome” missile defense system.

President Trump also made a point of contrasting his firm defense of the United States and its citizens with the failures of Joe Biden, pointing out that he had taken decisive action to eliminate radical Islamic terrorists who threaten American citizens, including a senior ISIS attack planner and announced that, as he spoke, one of the ISIS-K terrorists responsible for the August 2021 Abbey Gate terrorist attack that killed 13 American troops during the bungled withdrawal from Afghanistan was on his way to the United States to face the swift sword of American justice.

After four years of Biden’s open borders, President Trump recounted how he launched an unprecedented crackdown on the illegal immigrants and deadly drugs allowed to enter our country to remarkable success — and he didn’t need legislation to do it.

In just six weeks illegal aliens removed from our country have topped 50,000 as the Trump administration continues getting illegal immigrant killers, rapists, and drug dealers off our streets.

But the President did not limit his aspirations to our shores alone.

In one of the surprise announcements in the speech President Trump read parts of a letter from the President of Ukraine, requesting the resumption of peace negotiations with Russia and committing himself to sign the minerals development agreement that he bizarrely sent off the rails at a White House meeting last week.

In his remarks President Trump made clear to the Ukrainian president that America, which has funded the largest share of Ukraine’s defense, will not be taken advantage of — and the only long-term solution is PEACE.

President Trump described the letter as “important,” saying it indicated that Ukraine was ready to return to the negotiating table. “We’ve had serious discussions with Russia and have received strong signals that they are ready for peace,” he told lawmakers. “Wouldn’t that be beautiful?”
