Why the Border Disaster Has Disappeared From The News

Our friends at the Media Research Center recently published one of their must-read analyses

of network news coverage – this one about coverage of the record-breaking number of illegal aliens crossing our southern border.

As the MRC reported:

On Friday, U.S. Customs and Border Protection reported another record number of apprehensions at the Mexican border in June: almost 190,000. This number does not include those who have been able to get away from Border Patrol.

But somehow, this is not an ongoing Biden border crisis. On Friday night’s newscasts, only ABC and NBC mentioned it. CBS and PBS did not.

NBC tossed just 19 seconds on the border.

Lester Holt threw this brief: "Despite scorching summer temperatures, the record migrant surge at the southern border is still growing tonight. Newly released numbers show customs and border patrol agents apprehended nearly 189,000 migrants trying to cross in June. That’s the highest number in 21 years. Over 1 million migrants have been apprehended this year."

And:

ABC offered 12 seconds on the border.

David Muir announced: "There are new numbers tonight on the number of migrants arriving at the southern border. Border patrol agents reporting they made more than a million arrests at the border in Mexico so far this year, the highest number since at least 2005."

And:

CBS ignored the border.

And:

PBS ignored the border.

The obvious news blackout begs the question, why now, after initially giving the border disaster quite a bit of coverage?

The generic “they always give Biden aircover” answer doesn’t really explain the almost instantaneous disappearance of not just the record-setting numbers – one million of anything usually makes a news story after all – but ANY mention of the southern border disaster.

As the late Rush Limbaugh once said, “Enraging liberals is simply one of the more enjoyable side effects of my wisdom,” so here’s what’s really going on with the blackout on news about the invasion of the southern border: It’s not about giving aircover to Biden and Mayorkas, it’s all about giving aircover to the coming attempt to enact amnesty in the $3.5 trillion spending bill Democrats in Congress are about to pass.

As our friend Sophie Mann reported for Just the News:

Expected to be included in the Congressional Democrats' $3.5 trillion budget reconciliation bill is language that will advance the party's goals for immigration reform. Working with the White House, a group of top Capitol Hill Democrats are workshopping placing a handful of immigration measures into the spending bill that will likely be passed via budget reconciliation, that is with no Republican support.

...Democrats are opting to strategically move forward potentially without the need for bipartisan agreement.

As Democrats in Washington scramble to complete the full version of the so-called bipartisan infrastructure bill ahead of an initial procedural vote next Wednesday, details of the massive spending plan meant to accompany the infrastructure legislation are nowhere near fleshed-out, including how they plan to insert immigration policy into a spending bill. Right now, Democrats are, according to Politico, employing a "trial-and-error" approach to the legislation.

Democrats are reportedly attempting to include pathways to citizenship for a number of illegal immigrant groups in the bill, including "dreamers," who came or were brought to the United States as minors, and farmworkers already living and working in the country. The Hispanic Caucus is also lobbying to include giving out green cards to "essential workers," including those who work on the frontlines of health professions during the pandemic, as part of the legislation.

It is not clear that the Democrats will be able to include all, or any, of these measures in the final framework of the bill, if they wish to pass it without Republican support. There will likely be a lively back-and-forth with the Senate parliamentarian (who happens to be a former immigration lawyer) regarding what immigration policy can, under the complex and sometimes obscure rules of the Senate, be included in the budget.

To qualify for Senate passage with a simple majority vote, which the $3.5 trillion package theoretically will, any given part of it must directly relate to federal revenue. It remains to be seen how Democrats will retrofit their immigration goals to meet the standards of the Senate rules in that regard.

Democrats and their media allies don’t want you enraged about 1 million illegal aliens being admitted to the United States, while they are busy passing legislation to make the former illegal aliens “legal” aliens through an obscure and often secret Senate procedure.

The toll-free Capitol Switchboard is (1-866-220-0044) we urge CHQ readers and friends to call their Senators and Representative to tell them you oppose any plan to offer amnesty to the millions of illegal aliens already here, or who are currently surging through our southern border in the expectation that Biden and the Democrats will give them amnesty and allow them to stay and have a path to citizenship to change the political composition of the United States forever.

A U.S. Prosecutor Refused to Take Action that Would have Revealed Hunter Biden’s Criminal Investigation Before the Election Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss made a decision during the last presidential election that may have impacted the vote. Weiss decided against taking legal actions, such as issuing search warrants and grand jury subpoenas, surrounding a criminal investigation into presidential candidate Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden. If these actions had been taken it would have alerted the voters in America to the fact that Hunter Biden was under federal criminal investigation during the 2020 presidential election campaign. It was reported in Politico that this criminal investigation reached a point last summer, which was months before Election Day when investigators could have decided…

Democrats have let so many virus ridden illegals in our country, are the Biden's and company bought and paid for by China? sure looks that way most illegal drugs coming across our southern border originate from China, you know the Biden's friends, Chinese dry wall killed our homes, Chinese face masks proved defective killed our people, Chinese dog food killed our pets, Chinese lead paint on toys killed our babies, Chinese virus again killed our people, why does Biden want to be friends with China? having Hunter accepting large amounts of money for what? Chinese are trying to kill our dollar, China has cyber attacks against us, What am I missing? Sounds to me like China really hates our guts,…

Forgive me for being naive, but wasn't "reconciliation" the system used to iron out differences between House passed and Senate passed bills? How did it become an internal vehicle within only one chamber to get bills passed? It's time to repeal the 17th Amendment and get back to having senators represent the state legislatures rather than their political parties.
