The conservative leaders who participate in the Conservative Action Project yesterday issued the following statement saying:
Conservatives strongly support the nomination of Kash Patel to be Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and urge his swift confirmation by the U.S. Senate.
The last decade has shown the FBI to be in serious need of reform. Its failed leadership has implicated the FBI in a host of political scandals, from knowingly perpetuating the Russia collusion hoax to creating fraudulent evidence in support of a FISA warrant to spy on the Trump campaign. Its top leadership has politicized the FBI in a manner that has poisoned its mandate and lost the public trust.
Kash Patel has the experience, tenacity, and temperament to bring much needed change to the agency. He is a former attorney with the Department of Justice, has experience in the intelligence community and counterterrorism work at both the congressional and executive levels, and has demonstrated administrative skill in leadership roles at the Department of Defense. Crucially, he has shown he understands the critical deficits that exist at the FBI and is committed to right-sizing the agency through transparency and rigorous reform.
The men and women of the FBI deserve to be led by a director who respects the agency's mission, its impartial execution of justice, and who is committed to excellence in both. Kash Patel has the trust of the President to transform a badly deficient agency into an institution that once again commands the respect of the people it serves. The Senate should confirm him to the position without delay.
