It’s way too early to speculate, observed our friend Steve Moore in a recent edition of his must-read Committee to Unleash Prosperity Hotline, but several Hotline editors have been predicting that because of the rise of the Democratic socialists, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (AOC) will be the Democratic presidential nominee in 2028.
A new poll from University of New Hampshire now shows AOC is the early frontrunner among likely Democratic primary voters in New Hampshire, traditionally the nation's first primary state, but this year eclipsed by South Carolina, as the panicked Democrat establishment manipulates the party rules to stymie the progressive’s surge in the primaries.
Rep. Ocasio Cortez was coy about her future plans, sidestepping Fox News Digital’s question asking if she would like to be the Democratic 2028 nominee.
"I have genuinely not really weighed seriously anything past the midterm elections," Ocasio-Cortez told Fox News Digital when asked if she is interested in a run. "I think that I'm taking in this information just like anybody else."
However, back in June, after a spate of progressive victories in Democrat primaries, AOC was a lot more forthcoming, saying "…I’m definitely inspired and encouraged by all the new faces that we're going to be sending to the states and to Congress next year." She then added the caveat, "I’m sorry I'm not going to be breaking any news here as I consider what's going to happen in the future," Ocasio-Cortez told Fox News Digital regarding a potential run for Senate.
So, “inspired and encouraged,” but not breaking any news about what’s going to happen in the future?
If AOC is being coy, her Far-Left allies are not so closed mouth.
"AOC. It's not even a question," the Mao suit wearing Far-Left Twitch streamer Hasan Piker said during a Zeteo interview with Mehdi Hasan. Piker selected Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., over a slate of prominent Democrats as his preferred 2028 presidential candidate — arguing that AOC could excite the Democratic Party's base and bring infrequent voters into a winning coalition.
"AOC is, out of all of the people that you mentioned," Piker said. "AOC is the only one that I would like,” knocking down a long list of prominent Democrats including California Gov. Gavin Newsom and former Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel. The list later included former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, former Vice President Kamala Harris, Sen. Jon Ossoff, D-Ga., Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, Sen. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., and Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif, FOX News reported.
Piker compared Ocasio-Cortez favorably with Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., whose presidential campaign helped elevate democratic socialism within the party.
"It would be a fantastic left candidate, even better than Bernie in many ways," Piker said.
Bhaskar Sunkara, president of Far-Left opinion journal, The Nation, the founding editor Jacobin, and the author of The Socialist Manifesto: The Case for Radical Politics in An Era of Extreme Inequalities, also endorsed an AOC campaign for President.
“A credible Ocasio-Cortez campaign would do more, and perhaps be a part of building a leftwing infrastructure rooted in working-class life and built to outlast any one candidate.
“The only thing left is for Ocasio-Cortez to announce her campaign, and to announce early.
“Ocasio-Cortez should move decisively to consolidate the left behind her and ward off potential challengers. But consolidating the left is the easy part. To win, and to transform the country, she will have to speak to people’s anger and draw workers of every background into her coalition. That’s the longest of long shots, and it’s worth taking,” wrote the socialist thought-leader.

No Jail Public Safety: Instead of investing in mass incarceration, we need to invest in the most vulnerable members of our society.
Housing As a Human Right: Protect current occupants, repair public housing, and build new affordable housing.
Federal Jobs Guarantee: Rebuild the unions, invest in people not corporations, and a federal jobs guarantee.
New polling from the liberal firm Data for Progress of the 2028 New York Senate primary suggests AOC holds a remarkable 19-point lead over Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, should she choose to challenge the septuagenarian, reported Spencer Neale, Features Editor at The American Conservative.
No wonder she’s keeping her options open.
Whether AOC possesses the desire to further shake up the Democratic Party’s leadership by taking out Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, or launch a bid for the presidency remains to be seen, but Republicans dismiss her appeal and the power of her Far-Left coalition at their peril.
