If you believe in something, you need to have the courage to fight for those ideas - not run away from them... Charlie Kirk
Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, was assassinated yesterday during an event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. Charlie was 31-years old, and leaves behind a wife and two young children, and an almost unfillable hole in the conservative movement.
Charlie Kirk’s assassination cut short the life of one of the most influential voices in today’s conservative politics. Charlie early on grasped the possibilities of social media and live events to engage young people in the MAGA Movement.
Charlie’s trademark event, and what made him so persuasive, was the civil debate with his opponents. "You know how this works. You come up, you can disagree, front of the line, we're gonna have a lot of fun today, and maybe eventually we'll make San Francisco red!" Kirk said to cheers at a May, 2025 event in the center of California’s liberal politics.
However, as we mourn Charlie Kirk, we should not be surprised that a high-profile MAGA Movement leader has been assassinated, because Democrats and their allies have been calling for the killing of their opponents since the rise of Donald Trump and the MAGA Movement.
And the Leftwing media has been all-in on the killing of conservatives and MAGA supporters being something to be celebrated.
And
That media narrative has metastasized into a core belief on the Left – that killing opponents is a justified and legitimate political act.
As we mourn Charlie Kirk, we should not forget that Charlie is not the first MAGA supporter to be assassinated.
We should never forget that Lee Keltner, a MAGA supporter, and veteran who made cowboy hats for a living, was killed at a patriot rally in Denver by Far-Left activist and alleged ANTIFA member Matthew Dolloff. Likewise, Aaron "Jay" Danielson, a member of Patriot Prayer, was killed after a pro-Trump car caravan by Michael Reinoehl, an alleged ANTIFA member. In addition to the shooting of Rep. Steve Scalise at the congressional baseball game, dozens of other MAGA supporters have been assaulted, many seriously injured.
The question conservatives are all asking now is “what comes next?” It would be nice to think that Charlie Kirk’s spirit of civility and happy patriotism would change the hearts and rhetoric of the Left and contribute to a national healing.
We are not sanguine that such a national healing is possible, but not because conservatives would not be willing to engage in such an endeavor, but because the Left doesn’t want it.
As the late Angelo Codevilla observed in his great essay Our Revolution’s Logic:
From our perspective as students of how revolutions progress, the assassination of Charlie Kirk falls into what is called “the propaganda of the deed.” It was intended to inspire others to similar action, and judging by the reaction to Charlie Kirk’s killing from Leftist accounts on social media it is succeeding.
As of CHQ post time no one has been identified as Charlie Kirk’s killer and no one has been arrested for the crime. We will update this article as more information becomes available.
