Conservatives Write To President Trump: Make the Midterm Convention About Freedom vs. Slavery

Yesterday, a letter signed by four-dozen legislators and leaders of many of America’s most important patriotic organizations, including CHQ Editor George Rasley, was delivered to President Trump with a powerful recommendation about next week’s Midterm Republican National Committee Convention in Dallas. Building upon Mr. Trump’s commendable focus on the threat posed by Communists inside the United States and his declared commitment to prohibiting Islam’s toxic strategy for conquest known as “sharia,” the signatories called on him to seize the opportunity to restore the GOP to its historical roots as the party of freedom even as the Democratic one is again manifesting its embrace and enabling of slavery.

After all, what Marxists and sharia-supremacists have in common – in addition to their shared commitment to destroying our country – is the totalitarian ambition to enslave populations they conquer. With the elevation of Communists doing business as “Democratic Socialists of America” and jihadists tied to the Muslim Brotherhood and other champions of sharia – radical forces that together comprise a dangerous “Red-Green axis” – as not only core Democrat constituencies, but actual candidates for high office, the contrast between the parties could not be stronger.

Among the signatories on this joint letter are: three prominent Texas congressmen – House Sharia-Free Caucus co-founder and co-chairman Keith Self and Reps. Brian Babin and Randy Weber; Debra Burlingame, the sister of Capt. “Chick” Burlingame whose aircraft was seized and flown into the Pentagon on 9/11; foreign-born American patriot and former Muslim Ayaan Hirsi Ali; senior executives of influential grassroots and other organizations, including, the Association of Mature American Citizens, ACT for America, Moms for America, Intercessors for America, Citizens Defending Freedom, Conservative HQ, Eagle Forum, Patriot Academy, and Liberty Pastors; and a number of subject matter experts.

Of particular importance are the following paragraphs from the joint letter to the President:

The upcoming Midterm RNC Convention presents a truly Providential opportunity to showcase such messaging. We stand ready to help amplify the propositions that this election is, as Ronald Reagan memorably put it, “a time for choosing” and that patriots of every political affiliation must turn out this Fall and vote for freedom over slavery.

We urge you to make our choice of freedom a key plank in what can effectively be a defining, national and winning platform in the elections across America this November.

The opportunity presented by the Midterm Convention in Dallas next week to give patriotic American citizens compelling reasons to vote, and thereby change the trajectory of our country from one of possibly terminal submission to the “Red-Green axis” to a rebirth of freedom, must be promptly seized and actualized as fully as possible.

The text of the letter and the list of signers follows:

Dear Mr. President:

Thank you for your leadership in warning about the threat the United States increasingly faces from Communists seeking power and, in some cases, electoral office, even as they pursue our country’s destruction.

We are also deeply grateful for your recent declaration to Glenn Beck that you “would absolutely prohibit” sharia law – a parallel effort by domestic and foreign jihadists to supplant our Constitution with their totalitarian system.

It is hard to overstate the importance of raising the alarm not only about each of these enemies separately, but also about the subversive collaboration in which their informal “Red-Green axis” is engaged inside the United States.

The fact that Democrat politicians associated with one or both of these forces currently serve in federal or state positions and that numerous others are currently campaigning to do so constitute both present and looming dangers. It would alarm, and probably infuriate, most Americans to learn that such individuals cannot truthfully, let alone reliably, take their oaths of office.

We respectfully suggest that it behooves the Republican Party you lead to make a priority during this critical run-up to the midterm elections of highlighting the Party’s historic, and continuing, commitment to freedom. After all, the GOP was founded by the Abolitionist Movement and leaders like Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass. It needs to, indeed it must, powerfully stand for liberty in our time as they did in theirs.

That is especially so since the contrast could not be more stark with the Democrats and their relentless, and ongoing, enabling of slavery – from their party’s earliest days right up to the present moment, in which their Marxist and jihadist cohorts seek to enslave us all.
