Democrat Jessica Killin’s Congressional Campaign May Be a Crime Scene

Democrat congressional candidate Jessica Killin, running in Colorado’s 5th Congressional District, joins a long list of other Democrat candidates, such as Ilhan Omar, Abdul El-Sayed, Troy Jackson, etc., who aren’t who they say they are. As our friend Wayne Laugeson explained in a post to his must-read Substack Wayne’s Word:

Cordon off the area, and don’t let anyone contaminate the evidence. Jessica Killin’s bid to represent Colorado Springs looks more like a crime scene every week. A residency issue is just the latest development in a shady campaign, which has included high jinks such as running an ad that falsely claims U.S. Rep. Jeff Crank voted against releasing the Epstein files.¹

Killin wants voters in Colorado’s 5th Congressional District, anchored by Colorado Springs, to think she simply packed up and came home. In reality, she hasn’t lived in the community since high school.² Carpetbagging usually rates a shrug from me and from most voters; it ranks right up there with campaign-finance technicalities, transgressions which tend to put the electorate to sleep.

This is different. It’s not a politician hopping a county line. It’s a Washington insider, a woman who embodies the word “Washingtonian,” and a politician whose own paperwork has her living in two places at once.

The U.S. Constitution says no one may serve in the House “who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State in which he shall be chosen.”³ Colorado election law defines residence as a person’s “principal or primary home or place of abode.”⁴ Maryland defines a “principal residence” as the one place a person regularly lives, votes, gets a driver’s license, and files income taxes.⁵

The one place — not two.

Here’s the rub. The Oct. 1, 2026, tax bill for the Chevy Chase, Md., house Killin owns with her husband, Raj Date, designates it their “principal residence.”⁵

Meanwhile, Date has been registered to vote at the couple’s Colorado Springs house since Jan. 21, 2026. Killin’s Colorado registration isn’t public.⁶ So which is it? The place where you live, vote, and file taxes can’t be in Maryland and Colorado at the same time. Somebody’s paperwork is wrong.

Editor’s Note: For more on this important issue see Wayne’s article Killin’s Tax Break Explains Residential Lies.

If her principal home is in Maryland, as that tax bill says, her claim to be a Colorado inhabitant invites a challenge. Should she win, expect two years of drama instead of results for southern Colorado. With our outrageous cost of living, the housing shortage, homelessness, crime, and overdoses, the Springs can’t afford a lone member of Congress tangled in residency fights.

El Paso County records show Killin and Date bought a Colorado Springs house in June 2025 for $3.57 million.⁶ Call it the priciest campaign prop in the district.

Are we to believe Killin traded the Washington cocktail circuit — the lifeblood of her nouveau riche lifestyle — for life at the foot of Pike’s Peak? Her own political donations suggest otherwise. When she gives to Democrats, Federal Election Commission records list both addresses. On an Aug. 28, 2025, contribution to Electing Women Denver, she listed her employer as her own campaign, her occupation as “candidate,” and her address in Chevy Chase.⁷

Even midcampaign, her life looks more Beltway than Broadmoor. On Sept. 14, Orangetheory Fitness in Washington’s Tenleytown neighborhood, a short drive from the Chevy Chase house, posted a list of members who call the studio home. Among the members are “Jessica K.” and “Raj D.” In August, the studio posted a photo of the couple after a class.⁸

Date’s company bio says he is based in Washington and Colorado Springs. And a November 2025 Venmo payment to Date from a Bethesda investor carried the note “CCC Golf,” apparently an acronym for the ultra-exclusive Congressional Country Club.⁹

None of this resembles ordinary life in the 5th District.

After Falcon High School, Killin earned an ROTC scholarship and served eight years as an Army officer, leaving as a captain. That service deserves respect.² Then came the Beltway. She worked as a staffer for Democratic Sens. Bill Nelson and Tom Carper, lobbied for the law firm Latham & Watkins, and became chief lobbyist for USAA. She ran the offices of Reps. Donna Shalala, Carolyn Maloney, and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez and then joined the Biden White House in 2023 as deputy assistant to the president and chief of staff to Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff.¹⁰

That’s a gold-plated Washington résumé. It is not a life lived in El Paso County.

The money behind the lifestyle has an address of its own. Date took the reins of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau from faux-Cherokee Elizabeth Warren in 2011 and became its first deputy director.¹¹ He later co-founded FS Vector, a Washington consulting and lobbying shop. Since December 2022, FS Vector has lobbied for the Free Speech Coalition — the porn industry’s trade association, hiding behind a name that sounds like a civics club. Federal filings show at least $320,000 in coalition fees.¹²

Consider the client. The Free Speech Coalition sued Texas to kill a law requiring porn sites to verify their customers are adults, a bare-minimum shield for kids. The coalition fought all the way to the Supreme Court and lost 6-3 in Free Speech Coalition v. Paxton.¹³

Killin’s own House financial disclosure, which she certified as true, lists her husband’s FS Vector stake at more than $1 million, paying dividends of $100,001 to $1 million a year.¹⁴ No wonder she could drop roughly $632,000 of her own money into her campaign through June.¹⁵ Pocket change.

Voters have an easy choice. They can be conned by a left-wing Washington operative whose own tax bill names metro D.C. as her principal residence and whose household is underwritten in part by a firm that lobbies for Big Porn. Or they can keep a scandal-free southern Colorado native¹⁶ who knows the district’s schools, institutions, military, and faith communities — and the everyday struggles of people who don’t live on passive income from sleazy profiteers. Without that dirty money, this race wouldn’t be close.

Colorado Springs is one of the few big American cities that still leans right. If Killin and her backers buy it, the left will acquire conservatism’s last big-city stronghold in Colorado. Don’t let it happen. Jeff Crank works tirelessly to protect Colorado Springs from the agenda of the Democratic Socialists of America — a radical movement tightening its grip on the Democratic Party.

Keep in mind Killin’s controversies, and vote for Crank to help keep Colorado Springs a hub of common sense.
