Today’s Secure Freedom Minute with Frank Gaffney: Amidst hopes that 2026 will indeed be a happy new year, events that could help determine if that will be the case are playing out in the streets of Iran. A combination of mounting domestic economic, environmental, currency and political problems and the prospects for renewed conflict with Israel and the United States are contributing to growing public displays of resistance to the mullahs’ odious regime.
If the ayatollahs once again survive such unrest, they will redouble the diversion of resources to build ballistic missiles and nuclear weapons with which to achieve their abiding goals of bringing “Death to Israel” and “Death to America.”
To his credit, President Trump has expressed support for those bravely seeking change in Iran. That must foreclose further efforts to do deals with Iran’s sharia-supremacist theocrats and be accompanied by material assistance to their popular opposition.
