The Statement of Opposition predictably reflects an agenda tethered to an inside-the-Beltway legal and political philosophy, positions rejected by the American people in the 2024 general election, a rejection that is shared by the President who nominated Ed Martin.
With or without the political and electoral support of the attorneys behind the Statement of Opposition, President Trump was elected President in November 2024 and it is the President’s prerogative to nominate U.S. attorneys of his choice, who will execute the policies and principles on which the President was elected.
The statement says in part, "Ed Martin is a constitutional conservative whose distinguished career proves his commitment to upholding the rule of law, treating the Bill of Rights as law ruling over government, and advocating for justice. The American people elected Donald Trump because they know there are fundamental problems in and with Washington, DC. Ed Martin is not a Washington insider, which gives him freedom to fight in an untethered way the wrongs over the last 50 years that the attorneys who signed the Statement of Opposition failed to address or correct. Indeed, the very goals and objectives of those who signed the Statement of Opposition no doubt worked to achieve in their days within the U.S. Attorney’s Office and, even now, in their current positions are the opposite of the goals, objectives, and principles of those who support President Trump and his nominee, Ed Martin."
Ed Martin has demonstrated his willingness to reject the vaunted positions of the elites, in favor of standing for America first. In the tradition of John Adams’ representation of British troops following the Boston Massacre of 1770, Ed Martin has engaged in the finest traditions of the legal profession. Ed Martin has represented causes that the Praetorian Guard of the home court of the Administrative State would oppose. The reasons to oppose Ed Martin found in the Statement of Opposition are not only unpersuasive to those not tethered to the Washington, DC establishment, the reasons cited by these insiders is all the more reason that other attorneys, such as the undersigned, welcome and support his nomination.
