Xi Jinping’s regime has absurdly, but ominously, asserted that China is a “near-Arctic nation.” It has been: sending nuclear submarines to exercise under the polar icecap; using its large and growing fleet of icebreakers to facilitate PRC shipping via the so-called “Polar Silk Road”; and evincing growing interest in exploiting the region’s abundant natural resources.
And the Chinese Communist regime has just secured a “strategic partnership” with Canada that may result in the presence of People’s Liberation Army forces in North America.
