Yesterday’s House Financial Services Committee hearing on the economy revealed the Democrats’ strategy for the 2026 midterm elections – they plan to run on phony claims that there’s an “affordability crisis” and that President Trump and his policies caused it.
Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent did a masterful job of getting the facts of the Trump economy into the record, stunning the "experts" by confirming over 4.1% US economic growth — while Europe recorded only 0.3%.
And it's only going to accelerate from here.
"The U.S. will have reported likely, despite the longest government shutdown in history, 4.1% growth for the past three quarters," Sec. Bessent testified.
"And so, we have been successful at that. Europe last week celebrated 0.3% growth. So, it's no comparison. And I think we are beginning to accelerate," Sec. Bessent predicted.
"Importantly, everything we are doing is to fix this terrible Biden inflation from the past four years, 21.5%, much more for working families. And we are bringing that down," said the Secretary.
In an appearance on FOX Business, our friend economist Steve Moore said the GDP hit a blistering 5.3% annualized growth in Q4 2025 – and said “experts” were straight up bewildered. This beats China's Q4 around 4.5% - America's roaring back under Trump while others lag. This is what winning looks like - explosive growth, jobs flowing, inflation tamed. Trump's policies delivering big league for everyday Americans, Mr. Moore noted.
Even better from a political perspective, Sec. Bessent didn’t limit himself to just reciting statistic on the economy he went toe-to-toe with Democrats, several of who were reduced to blustering incoherence.
When Rep. Maxine Waters of California tried to corner Bessent on housing costs the Secretary didn’t hold back. “You and the Biden administration should be ashamed!” “Adding 10-20 million new people demanding housing, Congresswoman, is what caused a great deal of housing inflation for working Americans!”
Waters was so unhinged when Sec. Bessent stuck to his guns and continued to give an explanation to a complicated question on tariffs to which she demanded a Yes or No answer that Waters lost it and demanded he “shut up.”
Scott Bessent’s classy riposte was, “And can you maintain some level of dignity?”
Secretary Bessent also reduced the notoriously corrupt Rep. Gregory Meeks to foulmouthed incoherence when he played a similar game.
And Scott Bessent brought the receipts showing Meeks’ long record of corruption:
Scott Bessent sat there smiling while Maxine Waters and Gregory Meeks went into full meltdown during the hearing. Waters shouting for someone to shut him up, Bessent firing back about dignity, and Meeks devolving into ghetto language was a show that put the Democrats front and center, but not in the way they wanted.
The Trump economic boom has defied the conventional wisdom of the so-called experts:
This isn’t luck. This isn’t spin. Donald Trump had a plan — and it’s working.
If “affordability” is the Democrats’ midterm campaign message Republicans need to tout the red-hot economy at every campaign stop. There’s a business boom, a productivity boom, Trump Accounts and wages are outstripping inflation. But it’s a story that’s got to be told over and over again for it to get through the establishment media filter and Democrat disinformation.

Bessent: “You traveled to Venezuela to lobby Hugo Chavez on behalf of your donors. You cannot erase what you did in 2007.”
Meeks: “He did not answer my question, and he wouldn't pass the time. It was a yes or no answer. Stop covering for the president. Stop being his flunky.”
Bessent: “Your 10,006th trip to Venezuela...”
Meeks: “Stop covering for the president. Don't be a flunky. Work for the American people. Work for the American people. Don't be a cover-up for a mob.”
Bessent: “Maybe you're going to see your friend Nicolás Maduro in Brooklyn prison.”

The Trump economic boom has defied the conventional wisdom of the so-called experts:
• Largest tax cuts ever — tips, overtime, Social Security
• RECORD tax refunds
• 5.4% GDP projected
• Inflation under control
• Lowest gas prices in years
• Trillions committed to U.S. manufacturing
• Capital Expenditure BOOM.
• Jobs BOOM.
