The organization fueling the leftward, anti-Israel slide is the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA). Its ideology and organizational skill are progressively remaking Truman’s party into Lenin’s, wrote our friend Mat Staver in a recent email.
Some 52% of the DSA’s governing body are self-avowed communists. One DSA leader, David Jenkins, confessed: “Our goal is liberation; our goal is communism.”
DSA speaker Hasan Piker celebrates Mao Zedong, calling the brutal Chinese communist dictator “one of the great leaders of this world.” Mao killed some 65 million people, qualifying him as the most despicable mass murderer in global history.
And DSA’s platform is blatantly anti-Israel. It calls for turning Jerusalem into the capital of “Palestine” — which would require the abolition of Jewish Israel. And it is mandatory for any DSA-endorsed candidate to be anti-Zionist — an enemy of Israel, noted Mat.
“There are many Mamdanis popping up running for Congress around the country,” warned Speaker Mike Johnson. “…this is a serious threat to our whole system of government. These are Marxists."
Many Democrats have embraced radical ideas like abolishing the Electoral College, while some have advocated for socialism. Yet, the program the DSA is pushing Democrats to adopt as their own is broadly unpopular with the American people.
A recent Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that, if given a choice, 78% of Likely U.S. Voters would vote for a candidate who wants to preserve America’s constitutional system of government. Only 13% would vote for a candidate who wants to make radical changes to our system of government.
Majorities of every political category – 84% of Republicans, 73% of Democrats and 77% of unaffiliated voters – would choose a candidate who wants to preserve America’s constitutional system of government over one who wants to make radical changes.
Given a choice between a socialist candidate and one who favors capitalism, Rasmussen found majorities of both Republicans (64%) and unaffiliated candidates (51%) would vote for the candidate who supports free-market capitalism. Democrats, however, slightly favor a socialist candidate (44%) over a pro-capitalism candidate (38%).
However, if given a choice between a candidate who supports socialism and a candidate who supports free-market capitalism, the same survey found only 51% would vote for the capitalist candidate, 30% would vote for the socialist candidate, and 19% are not sure.
This tells us that the socialist brand, when divorced from the details of the actual policies on the DSA agenda, has a lot of power.
For example, some candidates who support socialism say there is an “affordability crisis” in America today. Thirty-six percent (36%) of voters believe socialism will make things more affordable, but 47% don’t think so, and 17% are not sure.
Solid majorities of both men (82%) and women voters (75%) would vote for a candidate who wants to preserve our system of government. Significantly more men (59%) than women voters (44%) would favor a candidate who supports free-market capitalism, and men are also more likely than women voters to say socialism will not make things more affordable.
Yet, 50% of Democrats believe socialism will make things more affordable, but that belief is shared by just 23% of Republicans and 35% of voters not affiliated with either major party.
Eighty-five percent (85%) of whites, 64% of black voters, 62% of Hispanics, and 70% of other minorities would choose a candidate who wants to preserve America’s constitutional system of government over one who wants to make radical changes. Black voters are less likely to favor a capitalist candidate over a socialist.
Among those who voted for Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election, 52% believe that socialism will make things more affordable, but two-thirds (67%) of Donald Trump voters disagree.
That 1/3 of Trump voters did not disagree that socialism would make things more affordable shows a frightening degree of ignorance or demoralization – or both – in the MAGA electorate.
CHQ Chairman Richard A Viguerie transformed American politics by applying commercial direct mail techniques and strategies to political communications. One of his many insights is that a brand is defined by what the market actually perceives and experiences, not just the message you try to send.
MAAA – Make America Affordable Again, may not have the same cachet as MAGA, but for the 2026 midterm election it may be the better brand, and it is a brand Democrats are starting to own.
While Republicans have warning voters about the details of the DSA platform, right now, the Democrats, and their radical Marxist allies in the Democratic Socialists of America seem to be winning the branding war because voters perceive them as being more committed than Republicans are to making things affordable again.
