The Dark Secrets Of The Indian Tribe Fighting Alligator Alcatraz

It turns out the leaders of the Indian tribe battling the Alligator Alcatraz illegal alien detention center on an airport in the Everglades are not New Age spiritualists battling to protect their “sacred” land, but an alleged criminal conspiracy engaged in tax fraud, domestic violence, kidnapping and other crimes.

According to reporting by our friends at the American Accountability Foundation, the chair, treasurer, and a top adviser of the Miccosukee Tribe have all faced domestic violence charges over the past 30 years. These allegations have ranged from misdemeanor battery to felony battery of a pregnant woman.

“While the Miccosukee Tribe wages a legal battle against Alligator Alcatraz, hoping to manufacture outrage, what they really want is to distract from their own sinister record,” American Accountability Foundation President Tom Jones told The Daily Wire.

“There’s a bleak history here: leadership tangled in a newborn baby abduction, repeated beatings on women, and a brazen refusal to pay federal taxes. The tribe’s latest public stunt is not about justice; it’s a smokescreen to keep Americans from asking tough questions about their dark trail of corruption and crime.”

However, battery isn’t the only legal issue the tribe has faced, NBC reported the tribe may be forced to pay back over $1 billion in taxes. Court records have revealed the tribe has encouraged its members to resist paying any taxes on their income.

Despite each tribe member earning a six-figure salary from the casino – and failing to pay taxes – the tribe has taken in nearly $250 million in federal funding since 2008. This funding has come in the form of anything from alcohol and substance abuse grants to childcare and health services.

 Highlights:

  •          The Miccosukee chairman was charged with battery in 2006, and his wife divorced him just months later.
  •          In 2018, the tribe elicited outcry after abducting a child at a hospital and Senator Marco Rubio demanded the child’s return.

  •          The tribe’s treasurer was arrested in 1995 for felony domestic violence to a pregnant woman.

  •          The tribe’s senior executive policy member and Alligator Alcatraz spokesman was charged with domestic violence in 2025.

  •          Tribe has been accused of promoting tax evasion, the Miami Herald estimated the tribe owes more than $1 billion in taxes.

  •          Each tribe member is estimated to earn between $120-$160 thousand a year.

  •          Tribe has received nearly $250 million in federal funding since 2008.

  •          Miccosukee has received over $60 million in HHS funds for various programs, including nearly $20 million for alcohol/substance abuse grants.

The Miccosukee tribe has received over $233 million from the federal government since 2008, this includes over $100 million from the Department of the Interior.

Miccosukee Corporation… Department of the Interior… $113,515,956.53
Miccosukee Corporation… Department of Health and Human Services… $56,997,919.00

Miccosukee Corporation… Department of Labor… $2,019,844.00
Miccosukee Corporation… Department of Justice… $1,921,667.00
Miccosukee Corporation… Department of Transportation… $1,446,468.00
Miccosukee Corporation… Department of Energy… $568,421.00
Miccosukee Corporation… Department of Education… $441,260.00
Miccosukee Corporation… Department of Agriculture… $20,000.00

Despite the federal largess bestowed upon the tribe, it still promotes anti-government, and especially anti-MAGA positions, mostly to no avail.

Federal appeals court judges ruled recently that a lawsuit brought by environmental groups and the tribe “failed to state a viable claim” that Florida and the Department of Homeland Security violated federal environmental laws. The decision was celebrated by Republicans in Florida, including Governor Ron DeSantis, who promised to open up similar detention centers across the state.

As of last week, the Department of Homeland Security told The Daily Wire that Alligator Alcatraz was still holding a variety of illegals, including those convicted of drug trafficking, murder, and sexual offenses targeting children.

“Despite repeated hoaxes peddled by the media and activist judges, Alligator Alcatraz is still open and housing some of the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens, including murderers, pedophiles, weapon traffickers, and drug dealers until they are swiftly removed from our country,” said Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.

The controversial tribe should cease to be funded by taxpayers as they continue to skirt taxes and hamper the Trump Administration’s immigration enforcement.
