Sami Hamdi, a Muslim terrorist apologist and sympathizer with British citizenship who celebrated the horrific Oct. 7 terror attack by Hamas was detained in the US just after starting a speaking tour.
“Under President Trump, those who support terrorism and undermine American national security will not be allowed to work or visit this country. It’s common sense,” DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin posted on X.
Hamdi, who told a mosque to “celebrate the victory” days after the 2023 attack left 1,200 Israelis dead, was taken into custody at San Francisco International Airport on Sunday while heading to an event for the Council for American-Islamic Relations [CAIR], the organization said. The organization — which the Justice Department named as an unindicted co-conspirator in a terrorism financing case was the sponsor of Hamdi’s speaking tour.
CAIR, whose co-founder said in a speech that the Hamas terror attacks on unarmed women and children made him "happy," condemned Hamdi's detention and called for his release.
The Department of Homeland Security confirmed that his “visa was revoked and he is in ICE custody pending removal.”
“Sami,” a less threatening version of the common Arabic name “Osama,” has a long record of celebrating jihad and attacks on Israel and the West, said of the October 7, 2023 atrocity, “How many of you felt it in your hearts when you got the news that it happened? How many of you felt the euphoria? Allahu Akbari!”
Hamdi had spoken Saturday at the Sacramento Valley chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations' annual banquet and had been scheduled at another speaking event in Florida on Sunday, reported the New York Post.
Blaze Media reported Hamdi's detention came just days after our friends at the RAIR Foundation USA published a damning report concerning the British national's history of radical remarks and associations, stating, "Every appearance Hamdi makes in America is not merely a speech — it operates effectively as a deployment node in an organized influence and mobilization program serving a foreign militant Islamic cause on U.S. soil. His talks are not educational but tactical."
During an October 2023 panel discussion at a British mosque, Hamdi suggested that rather than pitying the Palestinians, Muslims should "celebrate the victory," apparently referencing the Hamas terror attacks that claimed the lives of over 1,200 people in Israel including 46 Americans.
According to MEMRI, in December 2023, Hamdi called to “celebrate the victory” of October 7 and asked his audience “how many of you felt euphoria” when they heard of the Hamas onslaught in which terrorists killed some 1,200 people and took 251 hostages.
Blaze Media reported this fuller version of his remarks, "Allah has shown the world that no normalization can erase the Palestinian cause," said Hamdi. "When everybody thought it was finished, it's roaring. How many of you feel it in your hearts when you got the news that it happened? How many of you felt the euphoria, Allahu Akbar? How many of you felt it? Why did you feel it? Because the despair vanished."
Hamdi claims to be a journalist and political commentator, however he has a long record of serving as an apologist and polemicist for Hamas and other violent Muslim terror organizations.
The RAIR Foundation USA accused Hamdi of being a national security threat and described him as a "deployed actor from an overseas cadre system." The RAIR Foundation also claimed Hamdi was "training U.S. Muslims in digital agitation, electoral sabotage, and political warfare in alignment with Muslim Brotherhood doctrine."
"Sami Hamdi is not a journalist passing through America — he is a deployed actor from an overseas cadre system that grooms Western Muslims for on-shore mobilization," RAIR Foundation founder Amy “Mek” Mekelburg wrote.
The Times of India reported that while in the United States Hamdi reportedly instructed audiences to destabilize support for US allies, target officials, and weaponize elections. ICE cited these activities as evidence Hamdi was using US soil to further extremist agendas, radicalize audiences, and operate as an embedded actor for a foreign network hostile to American interests.
RAIR, which stands for Rise Align Ignite Reclaim, is an "activist organization" that works to "reclaim our Republic from the network of individuals and organizations waging war on Americans, our Constitution, our borders and our Judeo-Christian values."
