It’s going to take a while to process the impact of yesterday’s memorial service for our friend and martyred patriot Charlie Kirk. However, the takeaway that sticks with us most today was Stephen Miller’s warning to the Left, “we are the storm.” The following are some key inspirational moments and phrases from the service, and a link to the Turning Point USA video of the service.
White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller delivered a fiery warning to the left, “When I see Erika and her strength and her courage, I am reminded of a famous expression: The storm whispers to the warrior, ‘You cannot withstand my strength,’ and the warrior whispers back, ‘I am the storm.’ Erika is the storm. We are the storm—and our enemies cannot comprehend our strength, our determination, our resolve, our passion, our lineage.”
“They cannot imagine what they have awakened. They cannot conceive of the army that they have arisen in all of us because we stand for what is good, what is virtuous, what is noble," Miller said.
"And to those trying to incite violence against us, those trying to foment hatred against us, what do you have? You have nothing. You are nothing.”
“You have no idea the dragon you have awakened,” he added. “You have no idea how determined we will be to save this civilization, to save the West, to save this republic.”
One of the most consequential moments of the Charlie Kirk memorial service did not occur at the mike, but in the VIP box with the apparent rapprochement of President Trump and Elon Musk.
President Donald J. Trump spoke with clarity when he said, “Charlie's murder was not just an attack on one man or one movement. It was an attack on our entire nation. That was a horrible attack on the United States of America. It was an assault on our most sacred liberties and God given rights. The gun was pointed at him, but the bullet was aimed at all of us. That bullet was aimed at every one of us.”
President Trump further stated, "What was even more important to Charlie than politics and service was the choice he made in the fifth grade — which he called the 'most important decision of his life' — to become a Christian and a follower of his savior, Jesus Christ."
President Donald Trump fondly acknowledged Erika Kirk saying, “Today, an entire nation wraps its loving arms around you and your beautiful children — we share in your immense and overwhelming sorrow — and we vow that we will do everything we can to ensure that your children grow up in a land where their father is honored and revered as a great American hero.”
President Trump, after praising Charlie Kirk for wanting to engage with his political opponents, said he disagreed with Charlie on that point: “He did not hate his opponents. He wanted the best for them. That's where I disagreed with Charlie. I hate my opponent, and I don't want the best for them. I'm sorry Erika.”
Vice President JD Vance in making his remarks at the memorial to his friend Charlie Kirk credited Charlie for supporting him since the early days of his political career.
Repeating what he said in a recent interview Vice President Vance stated: “I would not be the vice president of the United States were it not for Charlie Kirk.”
Speaking with clarity about the path forward the Vice President said, “The evil murderer who took Charlie from us expected us to have a funeral today — and instead, my friends, we have had a revival and celebration of Charlie Kirk and of his Lord Jesus Christ.”
White House chief of staff Susie Wiles, who almost never gives public remarks, said Charlie Kirk made “the winning difference” in the 2024 presidential election. “Charlie’s army … outworked, they out hustled and outperformed everyone else.”
Don Jr. spoke for so many of us when he said he was “truly devastated” at Charlie Kirk's death saying, “Last week, when I received word that Charlie, who was like a little brother to me, had been assassinated, I was truly devastated.”
He continued: “His legacy must be that when they took his life, a million more Charlies stepped up to fill the void. We are all Charlie.”
Don Jr. then led the crowd in a call and response: “I want to make sure the world hears us loud and clear. Will you surrender? Will you back down? Will you give up in fear?”
They shouted back “no” each time.
In her unimaginable grief Erika Kirk summoned the best of her husband Charlie, citing the example of Jesus on the cross, said through tears that she forgives the man who shot and killed her husband.
After saying that her husband’s mission has been to save such men, she said: “That young man—I forgive him.”
Charlie was doing what he loved that day in Utah, speaking to college students. “And then he blinked and met his savior in paradise,” she told the crowd.
“I bless all of you for coming here from all over the world to honor and celebrate my Charlie.”
