2025: A Breakthrough Year for Men and Boys Worldwide

In light of Los Angeles-Based Writer Jacob Savage's recent article showing that, due to the ravages of DEI on our economy and culture, we have a “Lost Generation" of men, our friends at the International Council for Men and Boys released statement demonstrating that their global movement is gaining momentum as the ICMB and its allies brought men together to fight to end male disadvantage.

The year was highlighted by the release of the New York Declaration for Men and Boys, a pivotal document that affirms the universal right of men and boys to equality in education, health, family life, and legal protections (1). Unveiled on March 12, the Declaration was endorsed by a range of human rights advocates, including women worldwide (2).

The men’s health agenda saw significant advances:

· International Men’s Health Week was observed in June with record participation.
· Men’s mental health—long relegated to a policy blind spot—enjoyed significant coverage in June (3)(4).
· U.S. lawmakers introduced legislation to promote father involvement in early childhood and maternal care (5).
· Renewed attention to prostate cancer (6).
· Introduction of the first-ever men’s health strategy in the United Kingdom (7).

In July, ICMB marked another milestone with coordinated efforts supporting equal shared parenting—a fundamental reform tied to child well-being, educational equity, and family justice (8). Policy statements and campaigns emphasized the benefits of joint parenting arrangements (9).

The same month saw the release of a new academic volume challenging the myth that only women are victims of domestic violence, breaking long-standing stereotypes (10).

In November, the second annual Men’s Equality Month brought a unifying energy to this global movement. Throughout the month, conferences, media panels, and roundtables were held in 22 countries, focusing on collaborative solutions, unity between genders, and the foundational role of men in families and societies (11).

A November gathering in the United States reflected a growing willingness within mainstream policy forums to engage men’s issues more directly (12).

As the year concluded, ICMB unveiled a comprehensive reform platform—18 High-Impact, Cost-Efficient Strategies to Reduce Male Disparities (13). These proposals offer policymakers a roadmap to address structural inequalities in education, legal systems, family courts, homelessness, domestic violence services, and health access—without the need for massive new spending.

ICMB’s vision is clear: justice for men and boys must be part of the global equality agenda, as male voters are calling for reform (14). We invite:

·       Media to report inclusively on gender disparities,
·       Policymakers to implement evidence-based reforms, and
·       Citizens to join the movement for gender justice—#GenderEqualityForMen.

The International Council for Men and Boys is a non-governmental organization that is working to end the 12 sex disparities that affect men and boys around the world. Achieving #GenderEqualityForMen will also benefit women.
