On Sunday, Muslim terrorists carried out a coordinated assault in Sydney, Australia. Police identified 24-year-old Naveed Akram and his father Sajid Akram as the suspected gunmen in the mass shooting targeting Jews at a Hanukkah celebration on Bondi Beach, which killed at least 15 people.
According to reporting by the New York Post, one of the survivors of the terror attack at a Bondi Beach Hanukkah celebration said four police officers just “froze” during the 20-minute rampage on Sunday that killed at least 15.
Eyewitness Shmulik Scuri said he was with his family when the two suspects began firing at the crowd of worshippers from a nearby bridge.
“For 20 minutes. They shoot, shoot. Change magazines. And just shoot,” the witness told reporters.
“Twenty minutes, there was four policemen there. Nobody give fire back. Nothing. Like they froze,” he said of the slow response. “I don’t understand why.”.”
“There’s a police station less than a block from where the shooting was happening … it’s beyond my understanding as to why it took so long to handle,” witness Grace Matthews told the ABC. “One of my friends was at the festival [and] he said the police were just very underprepared to respond to this kind of a threat,” she said.
Footage shows the two terrorists, at least one of whom had a shotgun, firing round after round from a bridge overlooking the family-friendly Chanukah by the Sea 2025 event, reported the New York Post’s Ronny Reyes.
Police later found "improvised explosives" in a nearby car linked to one of the terrorists.
Australia already has strict gun ownership laws yet the guns were owned legally by the two, demonstrating the limits of the country’s “strict” gun ownership laws put in place after the government confiscated most privately owned guns in Australia through a mandatory turn-in, “buy back” program.
