DeSantis Designates Muslim Brotherhood And CAIR As Terrorist Organizations

The momentum is building for designating the Muslim Brotherhood and its toxic, Sharia-supremacist supporting infrastructure in America, including the Council on American–Islamic Relations (CAIR), as the foreign terrorist organizations they are. Now Florida’s conservative Governor Ron DeSantis has joined Texas Governor Greg Abbott to lead his state in the battle against these anti-constitutional Muslim revolutionaries.

“Florida agencies are hereby directed to undertake all lawful measures to prevent unlawful activities by these organizations, including denying privileges or resources to anyone providing material support,” the Governor wrote in the order.

Members of the Florida Legislature are also drafting legislation to prohibit Islam's Sharia law statewide Gov. DeSantis confirmed saying, “Members of the FL Legislature are crafting legislation to stop the creep of Sharia law, and I hope that they codify these protections for Floridians against CAIR and the Muslim Brotherhood in their legislation.”

In the executive order, DeSantis correctly stated that the Muslim Brotherhood — a transnational Sunni Islamist group founded in Egypt with offshoots that have been linked to past violent attacks — was attempting to establish “a world-wide Islamic caliphate” and noted that it has direct links to Hamas.

The Muslim Brotherhood is committed to the destruction of America and its submission, along with the rest of the world, to a global “caliphate” ruling according to Islam’s totalitarian Sharia code. Filmmaker Ami Horowitz brilliantly documented these ambitions in a short video entitled, “Inside the Muslim Brotherhood.”

The Executive Order declares the Muslim Brotherhood - the ideological parent network of CAIR - a dangerous extremist organization whose goals are incompatible with American values and Florida law.

The order states clearly that Brotherhood entities:

• Support violence and terror
• Engage in political subversion
• Promote an ideology hostile to the U.S. Constitution
• Must be blocked from state contracts, benefits, or privileges because CAIR’s founders, funders, and operational structure come directly out of this same Brotherhood network.

DeSantis also noted that CAIR, which uses claims of being a Muslim civil rights group to mask its anti-constitutional agenda, was “designated an unindicted co-conspirator” as part of “the largest terrorism-financing case in American history.”

After Gov. DeSantis declared CAIR a foreign terrorist organization by executive order, its Florida chapter and the national organization said they are suing:

“Like Greg Abbott in Texas, Ron DeSantis is an Israel First politician who wants to smear and silence Americans, especially American Muslims, critical of U.S. support for Israel’s war crimes. Governor DeSantis knows full well that CAIR-Florida is an American civil rights organization that has spent decades advancing free speech, religious freedom, and justice for all, including for the Palestinian people. That’s precisely why Governor DeSantis is targeting our civil rights group with this unconstitutional and defamatory proclamation.

“We look forward to defeating Governor DeSantis’ latest Israel First stunt in a court of law, where facts matter and conspiracy theories have no weight. In the meantime, we encourage all Floridians and all Americans to speak up against this latest attempt to shred the Constitution for the benefit of a foreign government.”

In response Gov. DeSantis posted to X: “I look forward to discovery — especially the CAIR finances. Should be illuminating!”

Florida’s rock star conservative Attorney General James Uthmeier joined DeSantis, saying “bring it on.”

American liberty depends on mutual tolerance — but it was never meant to tolerate totalitarian systems, like Sharia, that aim to suppress basic rights. Sharia, taken as a comprehensive political-legal program, presents itself as a system to govern all aspects of life under divine rule. By that standard, the mind is not free; it is bound to a legal code claimed to be God’s will. That starting point clashes with the American premise that individuals possess natural rights which the government must protect, including the right not to believe in any religious system.

America’s earliest leaders grasped these issues. When Thomas Jefferson and John Adams dealt with North African states demanding tribute, they asked why war was justified against nations that had done no harm. The answer they received referenced religious law and a duty to fight non-submitting nations. Jefferson studied the Quran to understand the claims driving that policy and resolved that America would pay for defense, not tribute.

John Quincy Adams later wrote at length about enduring institutions within Islamic law, including concepts of jihad and subordinate status for conquered peoples. His point was not to inflame, but to make clear that systems built on religious supremacy and perpetual struggle stand in deep tension with a constitutional order built on equal rights, consent, and limited government.

In short, the problem isn’t a “radical” offshoot of Islam set against a benign mainstream. The conflict arises wherever Sharia is advanced as a supreme political-legal code. That puts it on a collision course with the Constitution.

This has practical consequences. The Constitution is the supreme law of the land. No competing legal code, such as Sharia, can be slipped into our system — openly or quietly — without violating that principle. Those who would impose that foreign legal code in place of the Constitution cannot honestly swear an oath to support and defend it. And advocating violent or subversive action to replace our constitutional government is a matter for criminal law.
