As you read this email, entire Christian families and villages are being erased in Nigeria. And our friends at Advancing American Freedom are leading an effort to end the slaughter and protect Nigeria’s vulnerable Christian communities.
Go here to join the battle to protect Nigeria’s beleaguered Christians.
This isn't a conflict – it's a slow-motion genocide where Christian homes are marked for destruction, churches are incinerated, and children are kidnapped and killed. We know the heartbreaking truth: Nigeria is the deadliest place on Earth to be a Christian.
Just a few days ago parents gathered outside St. Mary’s Catholic School in Papiri on Friday as authorities confirmed that more than 300 Christian schoolchildren and 12 teachers had been abducted in one of the largest mass kidnappings in Nigeria this year. Church officials who visited the site reported overturned desks, damaged classrooms, and blood on the floor from a security staffer who was shot during the attack.
Niger State officials said the school received intelligence warnings about heightened threats in the area. Despite this, St. Mary’s resumed classes before the attack. Armed men arrived before dawn, opened fire, and seized 303 students in addition to 12 teachers. Another 88 students were captured after attempting to flee, according to the Christian Association of Nigeria. The victims include boys and girls between the ages of ten and eighteen.
BY THE NUMBERS:
Nigerian Christians are being slaughtered at an estimated rate of 35 deaths per day this year.
Over the past decade, between 50,000 and 100,000 Christians have been murdered for their faith.
More than 19,000 churches have been destroyed or attacked.
Militant groups, including the armed Muslim Fulani militia, are operating with complete impunity, and recent massacres prove they are growing bolder and more sophisticated.
If we fail to act NOW, the systematic persecution will become irreversible. The window for diplomatic intervention is closing. We are not just asking for change – we are asking for an emergency lifeline for millions facing annihilation.
