Zohran Mamdani is running to be the next mayor of New York City as a Muslim Democratic Socialist. That means he is a Communist who believes that Islam’s totalitarian code known as Sharia should be the “supreme law of the land,” not the Constitution of the United States. Polls indicate that Mamdani is the leading candidate in a three-way race against former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, running as an independent, and Republican Curtis Sliwa.

Can a “12er” Sharia-supremacist be Entrusted with the Security of New York City?

While Mamdani’s theological and ideological proclivities should preclude his election in a city that has suffered grievously at the hands of leftists who have coddled Sharia-adherent Muslims over the 24 years since a handful of the latter destroyed the World Trade Center, to date even a majority of Jewish voters, to say nothing of an estimated million of his co-religionists now living in the city, evidently support his candidacy.

What has generally escaped attention, however, is that Mamdani’s strain of Islam is a version of the Shiite tradition that considers an individual known as the 12^th Imam believed to have been living in a well in the Iranian city of Qom for the past 1200 years to be their messiah. They are known as “12ers.” They further believe he will come out of the well in response to immense – indeed, apocalyptic – level of suffering and a consequent outpouring of grief and pleas for mercy. His return and violent response will usher in the Golden Age of Islam, in which its triumph will occur worldwide.

Among the most radical of those who hold these beliefs are the ruling mullahs of Iran. Under their Grand Ayatollah – an ailing 86-year old named Ali Khamenei – they are convinced that the 12^th Imam’s return will occur on their watch, and regard it as their duty to ensure that happens. Such an ambition makes the regime’s pursuit of nuclear weapons all the more ominous.

So does the prospect that the security of the people of New York City – the repeated target of murderous jihadists – could ultimately rely on a man who not only is ideologically aligned with the Sharia-supremacist doctrine that motivates them, but who has reportedly associated with some of the most dangerous ones in our country, as well as their enabling leftist allies.
