Today’s Secure Freedom Minute with Frank Gaffney: In recent days, President Trump and Pope Leo have had very public disagreements about, among other things, the justness of the war with Iran.
It turns out that Leo is a leftist who, despite his American roots, is more comfortable currying favor with totalitarians than opposing them.
For example, the Pope has continued his predecessor’s practice of acquiescing to the Chinese Communist Party as it seeks to crush China’s Catholic and other religious communities. That’s indefensible.
And, during his recent visit to Algeria, Leo professed that Christians and Muslims can be friends, ignoring that country’s ongoing and aggressive persecution of those who follow Jesus.
While Christ taught that peacemakers are blessed, ignoring sharia-adherent Iranian and other Muslims’ obligation not to take Christians and Jews as friends – and, indeed, to kill them – is a formula for genocide, not genuine and just peace.
